Ace of Base is a Swedish pop group, formed in 1990, originally consisting of siblings Jonas, Linn and Jenny Berggren, with Ulf Ekberg. They achieved worldwide success following the release of their debut album Happy Nation in 1992. Later re-issued as The Sign, it was certified nine times platinum in the United States[6] and was the best-selling album of 1994. One of the most successful debut albums of all time, it was the first to produce three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart: "All That She Wants", "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around". They continued to score hit singles throughout the 1990s, with songs such as "Beautiful Life", "Lucky Love", "Cruel Summer" and "Life Is a Flower". By 2002, they had sold a total of 30 million copies of their first four studio albums, making them the third most successful Swedish group of all time, behind ABBA and Roxette. Despite being largely inactive since 2012, the group has never officially disbanded. In the last decade, they have released a number of demo tracks, first via their Facebook page, then in 2015 on the compilation album Hidden Gems. An expanded two-disc edition was included in the 2020 boxset All That She Wants: The Classic Collection. Jenny Berggren continues to perform the group's hits in solo concerts around the world.

Can't believe this song is almost 30 years old!! Probably the most successful female-led band to come out of Sweden this side of ABBA. The singers names were Jenny and Linn Berggren, who were sisters. Their brother, Jonas, was also in the band. The fourth member was Ulf Ekberg. "Happy Nation" and "The Sign" were two of the biggest albums of 1992-93, and they spawned a ton of hits - "All That She Wants" was their breakout hit, and should be your next one. They also had "Don't Turn Around", "Beautiful Life", "Living in Danger", and "Lucky Love". They also did a cover of Bananarama's awesome 80's song "Cruel Summer". You should do BOTH versions of that one!

Ace of Base was huge between 1992 to 1994, their first album 'The Sign' sported a few hits - "Don't turn around" ... 'Happy nation' ... 'All that she wants' ... 'Living in danger'. 2nd album 'The Bridge' in 1995 did OK w/ singles 'Beautiful life' ... 'Lucky love' ... "Never gonna say I'm sorry". The hand percussion instrument is a very ancient type of drum typically used in music from the Middle East ( Egypt , up through and into what was once mesopotamia) called a Djoumbek. I have 2 of them. It's basically a hollow tube that flares out at the top with the drumhead stretched across it really tight. Like stupid tight ! That's why even though it's a hand percussion it almost has a metallic quality to the sound. Like I said I have 2 , one is 10 inches tall x 10 inch circumference. The big one is same type of measurement but the magic number is 13.

Any club we went to in the 90's this song would always be playing, the girls loved dancing to this one.

I wasn't huge into rap (I did like some), but I really loved BASS. This is not just a band name. There music is engineered to THUMP in a car with big woofers. I used to rattle the cups in the drive through from the other side of the parking lot with this song.

Hello) That member of the group, whose undoubtedly magnificent voice with growling and other things, sang in the band's video, which I have already mentioned, Happy Nation, her name is Lynn, and there her voice is most talented and beautifully manifested. I can also advise from the early work of the band Wheel of fortune, also a great song with her voice)

The woman whose vocal(growling) you hear first is Jenny Berggren.

I can't recall when exactly this came out, but I know it was still popular when I was in my senior year of high school in 1994. Still love the song.
