Hey Distractor Beam, just wanted to drop a like and a comment. Your video helped immensely. I’m a soldering noob and with a cheap kit and the part you recommended, I was able to repair my 2013 Dodge Challenger’s electroluminescent panel. Much better than dealer price for a whole new cluster. Thank you!

We have the same problem in our 2013 Dodge Challenger! So it worked, this replacement? Did you buy it from the same place in Romania? We are looking at the site now.

@@NowonBeauty Hey, just saw your message. I actually bought mine on eBay. It arrived faster and although it was not listed for 2013 Challenger, it was the same part albeit a bit pricier.

@@Dioimai Part number is ELDM. Don't worry if your year is not listed on the eBay page, as long as it matches the website the OP offered, you're good. It worked for me.

When desoldering any through hole parts just add a little solder, apply some flux and then use a hot 470 degree soldering iron with some solder wick. You will know its working because the flux will smoke and seep through the wick and suck the solder right out of the hole. ;) You will need to cut any used solder wick off the end as you go to prevent it from sucking the heat out of the area your trying to work on.

I have a 2013 Dodge Challenger RT and the backlight on the gauges shows black spots that will go away after awhile when driving car sat over the winter and it randomly started doing this. Will this fix my issue I'm having or should I look for something else?
@TheIneffableEnigma3 жыл бұрын
This issue is because of the electroluminscent panel that actually provides the backlight. You can always swap one out from a jumkyard cluster if you're savvy enough, and know which models and years have the same backlight.
@kellyslaughter18452 жыл бұрын
Problem is most if not all of the panels from a salvage yard will be just as bad if not worse. Not really a viable solution.
@KuiperShaina4 жыл бұрын
So my PRND indicator periodically makes guest appearances, this transformer swap will fix it? Cause my backlight is fine, and so is my odometer.
@MrCougar2143 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue. Did you ever get an answer? Do your gauge needles also dance around when they feel like it cause mine do that too.
@KuiperShaina3 жыл бұрын
@@MrCougar214 I just replaced the cluster, since it was acting super funny, and sending weird messages over the CAN network. Unfortunately I gained like 45000 miles, but whatever it works. Cost me like 100$ at a junk yard, and swapped it in 45 minutes.
@MrCougar2143 жыл бұрын
@@KuiperShaina I was looking at the clusters on Ebay. I can get one for about 80 bucks. I also heard you can bring it to the dealer and have your mileage set to what yours actually is.
@KuiperShaina3 жыл бұрын
@@MrCougar214 honestly I don't know about that last part. I have the factory programming tool, and don't see an option to set the milage. I could've sworn I saw it before i swapped the cluster, but couldn't find it after swapping.

Maybe I missed this but what was the original issue? And what is the pry tool you are using? Have a Dakota; all the gauges operate fine but at night the lighting on the left and right gauges, is only partially illuminated.

@@Distractor_Beam DB, the year/model Dakota I have, uses electroluminescent panel for backlighting. Just wondering how you isolated the problem to the transformer? Or did you just take a chance that this was the issue? Saw the link to the replacement part, under "Where to buy" but do not see pricing or a method to order it. What am I missing?
