I just got mine on Friday. I almost sent it back because of the low volume of the speakers. But, I found a chrome extension online that lets me bump up the volume. I had called Acer customer support and they had me do a powerwash and now I can't get Netflix or Disney plus on Google Play. I dunno what that is all about. I was angry and annoyed and I was going to send it back. But I gave it another shot. The trackpad is lovely, the keys aren't supper premium but they work well and I don't mind them. I run mine on max brightness and I get about 6 hours of pretty constant youtube play before I have to charge it again. So the battery isn't super, but it charges fast so I don't mind. The screen is stunning. This is a very fast machine that never stutters or lags. In the end, I am keeping it. I will watch Disney and Netflix in the browser and I just bought some wireless earbuds. The speed, smoothness and this gorgeous screen were just too hard to part with. I can live with everything else...happily.

For real. Don't know why screens are all widescreen format. At least 16:10 would be better for most things. The lack of vertical space on the 1080p widescreen is horrible for most things.

I work at a school that purchased the previous model for staff. I wasn’t involved much in that decision, but next year we are switching away as Acer’s service when one breaks or has a factory defect has been incredibly lackluster. It took weeks to get a response from support and they wanted our district to pay to ship them their product because “Covid has shutdown your local repair center.” When Dell, HP and Lenovo still had local support or pay to ship their devices. So be aware of that when you purchase.

I've always found Asus, Google and Lenovo to provide excellent support. Especially with their higher end hardware purchases. That's just been my experience, though.

I was confused about three battery life comments makes in the video. I thought most vendors battery life estimates were based on a screen brightness of 50%. The reviewer tested the battery life at 65%. I own the Acer Spin 13, which is an older version of this line. It still rocks. After showing several Chrome OS laptop articles to my kid, and a test run off my old Spin 13, this is the one that is going to be bought despite it's slightly higher price then similar Chromebooks.

You should really get to know what Google's Cloud computing (and its higher end hardware) is all about and why hundreds of thousands of professionals like myself will prefer [higher end] Chromebooks over legacy computing platforms such as Windows and macOS. It's an eye opener.

Do you mean more capable because there are better Chromebooks or because you think he should own a Windows laptop? In which case I have to ask Why are you getting triggered by someone preferring ChromeOS? And if you want a new laptop why would you buy a used one? $700 is on the high side agreed, $500 is closer to the Chromebook sweet spot, but if you want ChromeOS it's not for anything to say what's better.

@@bradavon i mean how chromeOS is better than windows?
@bradavon3 жыл бұрын
@@suntzu1409 1. After 5 years it's the same speed as when you first took it out of the box. 2. It needs no managed like Windows. 3. We're technical so we forget how complicated Windows and MacOS is to average users. You login with your Google account and in 2-3 minutes all your apps are there and in the same place on the taskbar too (Linux apps need installing manually but these aren't a core feature). Can't say this with Windows or MacOS. 4. There's never been a ChromeOS specific malware, although I expect its possible. 5. It runs well on a Core m3 and acceptable on a Celeron (don't mean well), meaning if you're poor you can get decent laptop for about 300. Can't be done on Windows or MacOS. 6. It properly integrates with Android in the same way IOS and MacOS do. Windows Your Phone is terrible. Instant tethering, Notifications, Nearby share (Airdrop). 7. It has Android apps for ChromeOS tablets. Surface Pro suffers because it has no apps when used as a tablet. 8. Battery is consistently 10 hours+ compared with Windows where the quoted amount is basically a lie and even if you get it you won't every day. It'll gp up and down depending on use. So nice to know you can rely on a device that won't die on you. 9. Due to these reasons it makes for the perfect mobile computer. 10. It runs Web apps, Android apps and Linux apps. I don't use Linux apps but some people do. 11. A tonne of people only use a Web browser on their PC and have grown up with mobile apps. This perfectly blends both. 12. It's also just nice that it's simple, efficient and quick. Don't misunderstand me I use both a Surface Pro X and Lenovo Duet ChromeOS tablet/laptop (it's like a Surface Pro). So I find value in both Windows and ChromeOS. But for trips its my light, nimble and efficient ChromeOS device I take.
god,are chromebooks still a thing,for the price you can get a real windows machine and you could do more

They run Linux apps now as well as Android apps. And far more secure than Windows.
@eugene1883 жыл бұрын
Because they are easy to use for schools. There are constant updates and they lock them down quite easily. There are just too many options in windows 10 with too many things that go wrong and crash. Even low spec hardware can boot in seconds. I don't like Chromebooks but I can see why they are used.
