I am going to take a stab at the price: 1399 for this i7/16Gb/256gb. I love the thoughts behind this release. Certainly dig that this is becoming more and more mainstream.

I just bought the Vero 514 for €650 the normal price was €800 so I got €150 discount for the i7/16GB/256GB it was a good deal for me.

Picked up the i3 version this week... 8GB RAM with 256GB SSD. Very impressed with it. Very zippy, no lag at all. The i3 model (at least the one I have) does not have the finger print scanner (which I am fine with). The screen brightness and video quality is good, no complaints. When I first opened it up, I wasn't a fan of the look of the unit. But it's grown on me and I do like it! I do appreciate the fact that it is mostly made of recycled materials. Sound is decent. I like the backlit keyboard. Been able to play some games on it with zero issue (Minecraft, Hearthstone). Was able to grab this on sale for 399$ CAD at Staples. Overall, for the sale price this is a great computer to use and far surpassed a lot of the low-to-mid level Chromebooks. Highly recommend... AND.... updates through 2032!

@@kqh123 It's my go-to when I'm not gaming. I have an MSI Laptop for gaming, but everything else is on the Chromebook. I just wish there was a number pad. That's the only issue I have with it. But I can live with it.

I actually look the look of this thing. 499 for the best buy i3 model isn't too bad. i may very well consider that. i REALLY hope that the speakers have a bit more base to them though when the final one ships. I doubt it but I can be hopeful.

One year later, and their Spin 714 is the exact oposite to this. Plastic wrapping around box. Plastic wrapping around the plastic case which houses the chromebook which is again wrapped in plastic, witch a plastic sheet between the display and keyboard. The charger was also wrapped in plastic, same for the manual. Plastics everywhere.

I've just bought one of these and I'm very happy, one slight gripe is that if the keyboard is not lit up 100% it produces a high pitching coil wine, has anyone else experienced this at all? Thanks!

Yes, experiencing the same thing on a Vero 514 at the moment. No whine if the backlit keyboard is off or set to max. If in a room with any background noise unlikely to be too noticeable or such an issue. The one I'm testing is relatively early in the production run I believe (November '22) and I have the Core i7 with 8GB RAM. Out of interest, when was yours manufactured (date on the bottom of the Chromebook)?

@@MergeDroid interesting to hear and thanks for your reply. Mine is the i5 model late June 2023, so not a batch issue. Bit of an annoying oversight. Fans can kick up a bit too and screen is very average but otherwise a decent product at the right price.

The screen went out on my Spin 713 and the fan screams all the time so be careful with Acer brand. It sat on my desk the entire time; since I bought it.

@@cevcena6692 I hooked it up via HDMI to my smart tv and it's working. Only problem is the fans run on high constantly. It's fully updated and the external monitor shouldn't cause that. I think it's the Chromebook itself. The screen still won't come back on even after taking it to the Chromebook rep at Best Buy. I'm going to wait on the next Mac Book Air in 2023 and go that route.
