Agree with you about the lower suited connectors having less value because of smaller pairs, flushes. However, 45 suited is actually the first suited connector that makes the same amount of straights as the rest of the suited connectors. 45 suited and 10 9 suited both make 4 possible straights.

Why does Andy not raise bigger on the turn? Can a flush draw really call a big bet there, as there doesn't seem to be much he could be beaten by at that point as pocket 5's would likely fold on the flop? It doesn't. But 43s does (A25, 256, 567). 54 is the lowest you can go where you have the same number of straights as T9.

45 have A23(my favorite) 236 367 and 678(the worst) and this is a second reason why 10 j was much better than 45. With 10 j all straight was top. And you can see a lot more action if flop akq But techinacall both have 4 main combos

Doug, I'm only about 2 years into playing and learning more, but it seems to me that AA is not very good, are you saying to be confident with value betting / semi bluffing from the beginning, by saying "there just not gonna lose"?
@donhalley56225 жыл бұрын
Nice analysis. The (to me) reverse idea that if I have a desirable heart (for example), it's less likely that my opponent is working on a heart flush draw, is beginning to make some sense. Also, it makes those looooong, drawn out pauses before a player takes action seem a little less like pure "Hollywooding", and more like the time actually needed to think things through. I'm learning.
@RyanMurphy19725 жыл бұрын
When Doug said, "Basically, just don't be afraid to bet your aces for value…" at 11:56, I thought, "Well, if Andy had tried to extract value with his aces, he probably wouldn't be about to get stacked." Getting sucked out on is no fun, so charge 'em to take the chance.

so with 54, you can make A2345, 23456, 34567, 45678, 56789.. thats 5 straights. w/ 9T you have 56789, 6789T, 789TJ, 89TJQ, 9TJQK, TJQKA ( 6 straights)

2:28 54 makes exactly as many nut straights as T9. It's 43 and below (and QJ and up) that make fewer. Rest of the point is sound.
@m1j4s5 жыл бұрын
I know what you’re trying to say, nit picking with the fact that he was one notch too high repping 54 as being less likely to make straights/nut straights; however, QJ definitely makes just as many nut straights as any holding, except J10. makes less straights, true... now I’m nit picking... the question is, in that spot what percentage of the time should you call with 4-3 suited, if it’s Zero, Doug, just let me know?! I’ll stop playing that trash if you say it isn’t so!

I thought it would be better to 3 bet/ call lower suited connectors compared to then 9 because there 3 betting range/ 3 bet calling range will often heavily dominate u in terms of pairs and also blocking alot of your draws. Im pretty sure Piosolver rathers take them sort of aggressive line with the likes of 5/6 6/7 aswell over 9/10 and 8/9. id ussualy flat 9/10 pretty much most of the time and choice smaller suited connectors to 3 bet because your also more happy to take it down where as as u said u can make some nice top pairs with 10/9 not really the case with smaller suited connectors

@nathanielmorgan35925 жыл бұрын
2 notes: I'm pretty confident Andy should be betting extremely large(pot or bigger) with 100% of his range to leverage his massive equity and EV advantage on this board. What are you supposed to do with 99 if you're opponent bets 2x pot? If you call you could be putting in a ton of money with 2 outs and the potential of future barrels which force you to fold not only your equity but the large flop bet. Conversely if you fold 99 you're essentially folding your entire range making it a great bluff spot. That's why the big blind can bet 100% of his range and should overbet imo. Secondly regarding Andy's river call strategy the mp player should be bluffing with pair blockers not hands that contain hearts. As such is having a heart really that important because mp shouldn't be bluffing with hearts (theoretically). If that's the case shouldn't he call linearly? Not sure about that one.

Of course the third guy has to call... 7k in a updated 38k pot... Which represents 18% of the pot, and of course he has more equity than that... Anyway...
