They have other serious hits. "Sharing the Night Together", "Sexy Eyes", "Sylvia's Mother", "Only Sixteen", "When Your In Love With A Beautiful Woman". They did get on the cover of the Magazine but in Caricature form. Thanks and God Bless.

This came out in the early 70's when $10K was great money. They had fun. Not long after this hit, and they were put on the cover of the Rolling Stone. Try when You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman or Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk.

They did finally get on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. But it wasn't their picture--it was a caricature drawing (like what you'd get done by a street artist at the beach). But you can still tell it's them. Rolling Stone is still around & still very relevant in the music world. They're just a little more online now. But they're still active.

Only three of the seven band members were in the picture. Also, the band’s name didn’t appear. Next to the picture it just says, “What’s-Their-Names Make The Cover”. But they did make the cover, which back then was huge. My guess is they weren’t the only ones who bought that issue for that very reason.

"The Rolling Stone" magazine was almost entirely devoted to the Rock Band, and artist news of the day. Who was coming out with a new album and when, who just got busted for dope, or who was getting sued by someone for doing something crazy etc. It was actually a really informative magazine for us Rock fans, to get the inside scoop on the crazy stuff happening in the world of Rock music. If you got your picture on the cover of an issue, it could mean millions of dollars and superstardom. You could go from nobody knowing who you were, to everyone knowing you the next day. This is just a funny little song about them wanting to be on the cover, which after this song, I think they were.

As a few others have noted "Rolling Stone" was a big time music/political magazine started in the 60's and I think its still being published today. Eventually, Dr. Hook and The Medicine Show did get their picture on the cover of the "Rolling Stone". As a drawing. Also by Dr. Hook: "Sylvia's Mother".

Dennis Locorriere is the singer with the long beard mustache, George Cummings is the lead guitarist with the bass voice (also founded and came up with the name of the group), Ray Sawyer is the singer with the eye patch. They're all Incredible! Ray suffered an eye injury after he was involved in a car accident. He sadly, passed away in 2018 (82). RIP Ray.

I think they were making fun of the magazine. Rollling Stone magazine was huge back in the good times. They eventually made the cover, but it was in caricature and not the whole band. A few years before the band's formation, Ray 1:28 Sawyer lost his right eye in a car accident; Sawyer wore an eyepatch that made him resemble the Peter Pan villain Captain Hook, which served as the inspiration for the Dr. Hook moniker.

This is not the soundtrack from this live video. The audio is the original recording over dubbed. The are crazy if you watch the actual live performances.
