From my understanding of both Nick & Ethan's accounts, Ethan & Lex convinced Nick to use his relatively big platform to spread this information for them. So, it was Ethan & Lex's idea to take down the people in question, & Nick was just the vessel for which to do so on a larger scale than they could. Sounds to me like they were manipulating Nick. As far as I can tell, Nick was being fed the information by them, & so he was just trying to be a good friend by doing what Ethan wanted. Then, when Nick & Lex get criticism, Ethan ONLY mentions the criticism that Lex was receiving, as if it didn't matter Nick was going through as the messenger. Ethan sounds very selfish but twists the narrative, either because he genuinely fails to see how he was being the shitty "friend" or because he wants to manipulate his audience too. So when his girlfriend Lex receives criticism, THAT is when & where he has the problem? So he told Nick to do something, Nick does that thing, assuming his friend is mutually acting in good faith, then Ethan puts all the blame on Nick & tells him to stop. Sounds like gaslighting to me. 'do this' 'stop doing that' 'Nick accused me of trying to control him. Can you believe that?' Ethan, you WERE trying to control him & simultaneously using him as a scapegoat for EVERYTHING, from start to finish. How could he possibly think that he's the victim here, just because Nick rightfully doesn't want to be his friend anymore, & because he's mutually receiving "hate" alongside Nick.
