Since the time I was maybe 14 I started getting thick dark chin hairs. It started with one and then turned into so many that I have to keep up with it everyday to make sure my chin is clean 🥲 I’m assuming it’s a hormonal imbalance. I take vitamins daily and magnesium. Use the bathroom up to 3 times in one day (usually good poops, rarely have diarrhea or painful poops) I don’t drink alcohol. Don’t smoke either. I’d say I have a somewhat clean diet. I’ve tried to cut down on a lot of unhealthy foods, drinks and even the stuff I put on my skin. (With lotions, perfumes, washes, shampoos, conditioners, etc). I drink water primarily from plastic bottles and have for the longest time. The majority of my life id say, because our tap water is not the best. We have really hard water where I live. so I’m wondering if microplastics may be at play here. I’ve thought about investing in a good water filter for a while now. 😬 thoughts?

Sometimes it's just genetics. I have the same issue as well and when I was 16 went to an endocrinologist who did some bloodwork. They discovered I was a little hyper-adrenal, but nothing crazy. I was put on a very small daily dose of steroids for 2 years, but it didn't help. I was also given an ultrasound to rule out polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). If it's that they put you on birth control pills and it's supposed to help. That wasn't the solution for me, either. The endo asked my family an important question: does anyone else in the family have excessive hair growth (she listed back hair, upper lip, and chin). My dad admitted my grandmother did wax her chin and upper lip even when she was pre-menopausal, so that basically made it a genetic thing and I just drew the unlucky gene card. Laser hair removal was the most effective treatment in the end for me. I truly wish it was something I could change, but I'm over 50 and still dealing with it.
