They're the reason Dog Fashion Disco has re-recorded all DFD material released on that label (except for the Adultery album, which the band feels is "untouchable"). Polkadot Cadaver (and off-shoot of DFD, but mostly the same band) is redoing their first 2 as well since they were released on Rotten as well. Hoping they redo The Alter Boys album (again, some of the same members) as well. Unfortunately the last two DRI albums I think are in the same boat as they were also released on Rotten and I don't think those songs are available much either other than on the actual CDs. Excel's first 2 albums at least were obtained by Southern Lord. Not sure the status of the Agents of Oblivion album.

I think Acid bath had that mainstream crossover potential. That mixture of clean and growly vocals was kind of a new thing back then and as time proved it became a big thing with bands like slipknot. Unfortunately they broke up after the death of their bass player who was killed in a car accident along with his family before achieving any major success. The only reason why you don’t hear about them more often is their record label. Some people still live in the 90s.

Yes! One of the weirdest, most underrated metal bands ever. They were one of the leaders of the Louisiana sludge metal (which is roughly a mix of doom metal and hardcore punk) scene, but they were notable for incorporating other genres into their style like grunge, stoner rock, death metal, folk, industrial, etc. The band has never been very popular - they recorded 2 albums between ‘94 and ‘96 and broke up when their bassist died in a vehicular accident not long after. With their albums just recently being available digitally, they’ve started to gain some notoriety, though their old record label frequently strikes any videos reacting to their music. Sammy Duet, one of the guitarists, later went on to found Goatwhore, who are probably more well-known. All in all, a great, short-lived band that deserves more attention

For anybody that knows, or doesn't know, it has never been Acid Bath that has caused any copyright strikes or prevented their music from being streamed. Rotten Records has owned the rights to their music ever since the band split up. For the longest time you could not stream their music, and the record label limits how many units are produced from their albums. There are only two albums that they actually did that were full albums. Paegan Terrorism Tactics and When the Kite String Pops. Rotten Records later released a crazy bootleg box set. Then there is a spin-off project, that actually existed before during and after Acid Bath called Agents of Oblivion. Dax Riggs, songwriter and singer of the band, currently is still doing music as a solo effort, but it's more along the lines of spoken word and folk song type stuff. One of the members died during hurricane Katrina. And there are one or two members that are part of the band Goatwhore.

You should honestly buy their 2 albums cuz live footage doesn't do them justice and you can't find official studio recordings on KZbin cuz Rotten Records screwed them over big time after Audi died and won't allow KZbin to play their music. They supposedly had a contract to make four albums which would've included a live album but once Audi the bass player died (who was primarily the musical genius that wrote most of the music) the band broke up. When my friends and I met Dax and Mike at an Agents of Oblivion show in Gulfport MS we asked them if they would ever get back together Dax simply said Acid Bath was awesome but we could never go on without Audi and we have to move on to new chapters!

I AM glad that he and Sori had an adult conversation about it instead of the usual Siskel and Ebert reaction videos we are used to. Also glad that Daxx is still with us. Only put out two phenomenal, influential albums, before their bassist died. Dax and Mike (essentially) reformed as Agents Of Oblivion, for one album. Lead singer Dax Riggs wrote all the lyrics... very cool (and extremely dark) stuff! You ALMOST cant go wrong reacting to any song of theirs, but some are clearly better than others ... for instance Dead Girl is kind of an acoustic ballad, has some amazing lyrics, and has one of my favorite lines ever ... “The sound of the ocean is dead. It's just the echo of the blood in your head”. Agents Of Oblivion recorded a full metal version of it. Scream Of The Butterfly, Dope Fiend, Paegan Love Song, Bleed Me An Ocean, Grave Flower, New Death Sensation are other titles that stick out :)

It's hard to find any good quality acid bath on KZbin. Google music has all their songs. I used to love Acid Bath. Still do. My personal favorites are the slower darker songs Like Venus Blue, New Death Sensation, Bleed Me An Ocean so many great songs. Tranquilized is another fav of mine. But I do try to stay away from darker music these days. Puts me in a somber mood. I have enough sadness and anger in my life. I try to focus on the positive and stay in a happy mood. All I can is pray and keep faith that God will take care. But I am glad to see you react to Acid Bath. ( Daxx Riggs is the vocalist. I'm typing this as I'm listening. Well, you found it. ) I can't remember the band he's in now but it's so different. Last year I listened to some of his old interviews and he's so soft spoken. If I would have heard him speak before I listened to the music I never would have imagined it to be this intense. Especially his singing. He is a lyrical genius, well to he is and paired with the rest of the band...just a big burst intense energy. Puts one in a mood. I do not know of too many ppl that has ever heard of them. My ex, my two son's dad, introduced me to them but we used to spend hours in CD shops way before the internet blew up, way before KZbin. So he'd find stuff that not too many of our friends had heard of. I know there's many many fabs out there I just personally don't know if many. Anyways, yeah good stuff. Good video.

I think the simplest interpretation of the lines "I have fallen deep in love with the sky" and "sunbeams gleaming on the kitchen knife" is someone lying on their back as they're dying by their own hand. They are reveling in their own death. It's fucked up and intense, but that's Acid Bath.

There's a really good video on Acid Bath, their origin and history, on Rock N Roll True Stories KZbin channel. If you want to find out more about this band, I highly recommend looking it up.

When one of your kids joins a really heavy band and Sori decides to record one of their shows on her phone. That is what this production reminds me of.. Good song though.

This band should have been huge but unfortunately their record label & the death of their bassist ruined it for them. So sad considering they have an absolutely phenomenal songwriter & vocalist in Dax Riggs & they have fantastic musicians. You can't even get the album versions of their songs on KZbin. But they have gone up on Spotify recently! If you can, you should react to them off of Spotify. Fascinating seeing Vin interpret some of the lyrics. We need more Acid Bath reactions!

I agree. Acid Bath lyrics fit Vin’s analytical style perfectly

Welcome to Louisiana, guys! lol Love me some Acid Bath! They only had like two albums but it was all just so good. I think my fav was When The Kite String Pops but Paegan Terrorism Tactics was solid too.

Acid bath is a mix of grunge and death metal. Sludge
@k0bra3eak404 жыл бұрын
*doom and hardcore Sludge is a fusion genre of Doom and Hardcore Punk, many bands drew a bit from grunge as well as Grunge was really popular at the time,but the genre is primarily doom with punk vocals and themes.
@MRSludgedude4 жыл бұрын
@@k0bra3eak40 he has that Seattle voice kind of like Alice but with death metal vocals. Defiantly not screamo emo core.
@k0bra3eak404 жыл бұрын
@@MRSludgedude have you listened to hardcore punk before, Black Flag's My War B Side is basically the precursor to the genre as a whole, Hardcore Punk is not screamo or emo and it's almost insulatingly ignorant
@MRSludgedude4 жыл бұрын
@@k0bra3eak40 yea black flag is cool. My buddy is freinds with Henry. They trade reptiles and amphibians. I dont consider that hardcore I guess. Wen I think hardcore I think of swooped gangs....hardcore verse then a castrated emo blink 182 chorus. Metal and punk went downhill in the mid 90s. Punk turned emo and grunge turned to nickelvack, metal got taken over by Preppy collage scene hipsters. After 2000 most sruff just sucks. I'll stick with crowbar, eltric wizard, Sabbath, alice in chains, melvins, down, soundgarden, nirvana, dax riggs, agents acid bath.

Sludge is technically a mix of doom metal and hardcore punk, though there is a grunge and slight death metal influence on most of their songs

Hmm those most people I saw at one of Dax's shows was the Howlin Wolf during Agents of Oblivion. Even the balcony was packed and they did a double encore, and got Dax to go into Golgotha songs because they had ran out of songs that weren't Acid Bath material. I am sure there were bigger that I wasn't at perhaps. dunno, saw them alot.
