One thing, the Comanche people don't have a Wendigo legend. Just a minor point (they do IIRC have other evil spirits and such, though Coyote is the only one I am aware of personally.), but people seem to cross contaminate Native American beliefs as if they were a monolithic religion.
@GamingxKnight2 жыл бұрын
Did not know that. It was a thought I had while watching the movie, maybe this is the birth of the Wendigo legend considering Wendigo's are often described as wearing a skull on their head, but did not know that Comanche's don't have that legend. Glad they didn't go that route and more so used the idea as an inspiration rather than a fictional 'this is the birth of the legend'.

I do wish the people who make those movies have used that more,l. Like we have only seen it in like 3 movies. It feels like they have forgotten that Yautja/predators can copy a humans voice/somewhat understand human language. Don't know how I feel about him bringing up what Disney has done with Star Wars and shining it in a positive light lol. Disney's f*cked up hard with Star Wars so far, some things have been good, but I do get what he is saying. Prey wasn't a masterpiece, but it wasn't horrible. I did enjoy it and I hope they stay on this track and improve on it. Though, would be nice if they moved away from beating us on the head with 'she's a woman and she's looked down upon, got it?!' portion of the movie. Could have done that differently with a stronger impact than trying to cram it down our throats lol
@CordellPotts2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Disney is fucking up everything they touch these days. And while Prey was really good and entertaining, it's a long way from coming close to being as good as the 1st one. I did like Naru alot though, But I think it would be a disservice to the character if they made a direct sequel. Predator films should be about the Predator, the Prey should be secondary and different in each film.

The Wendigo is a Northern Tribes belief. And what it is, does, and how it looks, will vary about as much as how they pronounce the name. When I worked at a Native art institute, I became friends with people of other tribes. We talked about stories, beliefs, and superstitions, to see if we had any in common, which we had few. Some believed the Wendigo was an evil spirit. Some, a kind of protector of the forest and land. And to others, it was a Spirit of the Forest, meant to test young men, who have come of age. Testing them to see if they will become a warrior or not. They would spend a week in a forest by themselves and the Wendigo (pronounced Went-daygo) would test them mentally, physically, and spiritually.

How the Predator uses its stealth in this was smart yet stayed honorable in a way. Melee ranged prey can still see it while it obscures ranged ones so it can properly focus on the fight ahead. Main proof was when it all out against the MC's brother. As dishonorable as it could be perceived, it also showed how much the Predator was holding back its capabilities for its worthy prey

Keep in mind, the only reason why Feral looks like the way he does is because he's technically the ancestor to the predator later down time. Nothing like that seen from Feral. He's definitely an ancestor to both species

And aren't these both said to be cannibals as a core defining characteristic? Actually Teihiihan makes a bit more sense, but not much more. Maybe the Predators got the idea to skin humans from seeing humans skin bison.

@@HUKIT. I've seen the classic Predator 1, AvP, AvP2, Predators (2010), and Prey. And Prey is probably the best one right now. 🤷♂️

Do you want to see movies with same predator from 87?
@Politically_Incorrect9732 жыл бұрын
@@HARdrewReal22 let me explain somethin because all the ppl that defend this pred design and the one from 2018. The jungle hunter, city hunter, the elder who gave the flintlock to Harrigan, wolf, Celtic, chopper, and scar are all the same base design with subtle differences. That's what i want more of not every director putting thier spin on it. The predator is iconic for a reason the problem was never the designs the predator but they seem to always want to change it and it gets annoying

@@Politically_Incorrect973 well i like to see more species of predators including females, this was from another atmosphere from the yautja prime i think is cool

Strange eh? I'm not Indigenous American. I'm from Asia. And we also have a belief of not whistling at night for fear of it attracting evil spirits/wandering/hungry ghosts.

Feral predator was an idiot, he didnt even know how to hunt, just jumped into groups of people and fell for stupid traps

i still think the worst looking yautja was the ones from AVP. They looked like they had been gorgin on ice cream for the past 5 years, super bulky and fat, lol. Wolf from AVPR though? That one looked perfect i thought.

Yeah it wasn't a fair fight.. When you pitch an elite human hunter vs a newbie predator.. The newbie predator just went invisible... So yeah fair fight..

I wish people would actually have knowledge on things before they just babble 😂 Wendigo, they deal mostly with cannibalism and cold weather. Yautja hunt for sport, doesn’t do it for cannibalism. If anything, Yautja are more similar to that of a Skin Walker. Each tribe has their own names for them, but the most popular and well known is that of the Navajo, Skin Walkers. Look it up and you’ll see more similarities between them and the Yautja.
