Let me give a hot take there i think this is the male version of the Sea Emperror Leviathan. We know that Sea Emperror is telepathic. And the Sea Emperror we met was the female, so there somewhere must have been a male. (I know in the game it said the Sea Emperror Leviathan we met is the last Adult of its kind but what if that wasnt actualy true or maybe there was some other Egg out there that hatched a while ago)

the idea of actually having a real antagonist and having it be a very dark and somewhat twisted form of what the sea Emperor was supposed to be. (meaning the emperors presence causes hostile creatures to become docile, and had the ability to cure the planet. this form is a leviathan class Mesmer that may be just as if not more sentient than the sea emperor. and has a telepathic ability to manipulate machinery. while still upholding the dark eldritch style concept. amazing!

There's a video where someone shows the full 3d model of the creature in the trailer. It appears to be a leviathan sized version of a sort of blood sucking leech which implies that this mesmer is actually just a parasite for something much larger, IE it just sucks the blood of something so large it's mind boggling.

@@gettotheGatemy problem with below zero was that it was too linear, I liked the first game because the character was pretty much nameless and faceless unless you do some real digging, it wasn’t really supposed to matter, it made it much easier for me to put myself in my characters shoes with no voice or identity of his own. Not to mention the fact that I don’t just get the builder tool is pretty annoying and I quit playing because it just wasn’t anywhere even when I checked locations suggested online multiple times. Plus with the recent addition of below zero buildings being added to regular Subnautica I just don’t have a reason to play it.

​@@mclovin2408well the below zero is a different take than the original. While BZ is relatively smaller map, its more story driven. Maybe it feels linear because the motive (find out what happen to your sister) is established in the early game? In the original however, it feels more open ended because we're not sure what we were supposed to do. The missions revealed themselves in multiple stages as you explore further and go deeper. That, combines with larger map and more biom means bigger ship and longer playtime. Judging from the Trailer, I think we are back to the nameless character again. I wish it's an add on pack to the original rather than a completely new gameplay.

My prediction for this project is that those pinkish crystals will be the main source of conflict, probably like a plague. I think this because of the peeper seemingly infused with it and the large amount of it by the precursor base. The tentacle/plant things will most likely be an environmental enemy, like the adult ghost leviathans in the base game, but stationary. The giant worm-like leviathan I believe will be a secondary antagonist after the crystal things, and will periodically attack your new sub. We as the player will have to search for a cure for this crystal disease and will search for a precursor facility that hopefully found a cure before being wiped out. Do take this with a shaker full of salt as this is simply me theorizing and having fun, and thank you for reading this ENTIRE thing

Seems kinda uncreative if the objective of the first game is “cure this disease” and the second one is also “cure this disease” The worm-like leviathan is not going to be the main antagonist. It’s a giant leech. That means it primarily gets food from something even larger…

My guess, is it could be something related to altera. For instance, the auroras main mission was to establish a phase gate on the farthest reachable plane of space. But, what if…. That actually wasn’t the case. The thing about military-esque operations like that is, a lot of the times there’s usually some ultra top secret shenanigans going on behind the scenes. Since the aurora crashed so close to the craters edge combined with the dark matter drives exploding, the focus of that top secret mission was blown into the void. So they then send in an expert on planet 4546B… Riley, to explore the void in order to recover what was lost, but finds out there is something wrong with the alien tech down there, like a leviathan crashed into a facility that if left alone would destroy the solar system. (and before you say anything, there was a scannable item in the enforcement platform the size of a football (American) that said if it detonated it could wipe out the solar system)

I've got 500+ hours in Subnautica, and I would have 2000+ if it was co-op. My wife and I play together every single night and some days (both retired), and Subnautica is one of the best games ever created. This is exactly what I was hoping Subnautica 3 would be like! Set in the extreme depths of the void with more luminous creatures like in real life low depths and possibly even bigger leviathan class life forms to survive down there where it would actually make more sense for something like the gargantuan leviathan to be because of how much more open space there would be for it. I’d imagine in a game like that though oxygen would need to be something solved for the player though because it would take too long to surface every time at these extreme depths and maybe light sources would be more of a concern to figure out. Amazing concept though and I can’t wait for when it comes out!

I hope this has 'Whalefall' biomes where an entire ecosystem is built around the fallen corpse of one of the new leviathans. Or preferably many of them, like a reflection of the Lost River but with actual decay instead of fossils. The abyssal zone is real scary stuff.

The idea of searching the void for answers to why the creatures that are found there tend to be hyper aggressive and exhibit different evelutionary paths form their main water varients sounds like an amazing concept

i love this concept bc there’s absolutely no way there isn’t anything more in the void than ghost leviathans. like yes ik that’s all the devs can give us for now to keep us confined, but building off of the little they’ve shown us opens up so many opportunities like this
