My favorite character in this is the magician/witch. I have to wonder her motivations. Is she a well-intentioned extremist who thinks she's helping/protecting people by storing them away or just absolutely evil? I imagine her backstory being where maybe her mom was terminally ill and she wasn't able to cope with that so she went into such denial that she learned black magic to keep her alive forever in suspended animation. Then did the same to her dad. Now she thinks she's collecting/helping people. A great twist if you did her backstory would be to make her turn out to be a not-so-well-intentioned extremist, where the setup makes it seem like she had a noble aim, or maybe she did at first, but she turned to the dark side. I was impressed how the actress managed to have the right kind of slightly unsettling smile for this, not an outright Jack Nicholson from The Shining kind of smile, but it's not warm or friendly either. It's a little bit like what I used to call the Wednesday Addams smile many years ago. It's perfect because if I was talking to a girl and she was smiling at me the whole time like that, I'd be uncomfortable but also very confused. I'd wonder if she's trying to flirt but doing a terrible job or if she's trying to scare me. That's why it's perfect. I love subtle little details like that. On that note, in a sequel, maybe add a funny moment where she drools on her desk from smiling like that for so long, but she's oblivious/doesn't care.
