As an Airman, I find this astonishing. We in the Air Force usually have to volunteer to deploy (depending on your occupation.) Its pretty much just a vacation to rack in all that deployment pay in our 5-star hotels.

Yet they get payed the same, if not more because they promote faster, and get payed while not working, and get afforded BAH for making a bad decision, that actually makes them less workable and more prone to leaving work for personal problems, have lower physical standards, but they get payed the same and recruiters are encouraged to get females, it's such nonsense you can't justify bullshit, if a female gets pregnant in her first 4 years or before a known deployment and doesn't abort she should get admin discharged with no benefits.

Suddenly a lot of "old high school football injuries" and "technically I have asthma" started spreading like a Coronavirus in an elevator. Some of them got put on Rear-D and...weren't there when we got back 12 months later.

Weaver I do think it depends on how you view your duty, everyone has different morals and beliefs. You shouldn’t have to join the military to get basic needs met, you come first... no one, not the gov, not people, not the repubs, the dems, your house cat, no one or nothing is going to look out for you, more than yourself. Is that wrong and selfish? Maybe, but it keeps you alive, it keeps you well and healthy, so if you can get out if something. I say go for it. On another hand, if I am being deployed somewhere, I would rather have someone that didn’t try weaseling out, because typically it means they wont try to weasel out of other things that can affect someone else. The Militaries standards are a bit absurd, there are plenty of people willing to join for the more honorable reasons, and feel that patriotism, but get denied because of one reason or another, that if a draft came down would get them shipped out in a heartbeat and would be overlooked. XD People in the military are no different than me and you, though I do respect people that do want to join, and do join, especially those that do serve in a tour.

No, in some army units, it isn't a joke if we can't deploy. Some commander or chain of commands is very strict and if you have undeployable status, make sure your career will be put to end miserably. You will be useless in the eyes of commander or you may be kicked out with bad conduct discharge and your veteran benefits will be forfeited (if you are caught you lied for excuse). Some units works like this. Make sure you have to struggle for making yourself get deployable status all the time for securing your career.

Gibson that was here from 06 till 17 and passed of lung cancer...he was marine 67 68 50 cal on top of tank...weve got a Navy Vet 1968 M. Imagine having a Company Commander for a Deployment Dodger. I signed up (2009) to deploy in the Army (MP) but my CO had just gotten a Mail Order Asian Bride and did not want to deploy, we were supposed to go to Afghanistan but he got out of that and then almost a year later, we were told Gitmo and he dodged that one too. Then about 6 month's later we got told Afghan again but he dodged that too. The whole unit hated him except for a handful who also didn't want to deploy or had deployed and did not want to get another deployment. He also never took the time to get to know us either. He would constantly say "The best Officer's are ones who were previous enlisted" since he was enlisted before but if your a great Officer.. why say that? Then you get out and feel like less of a Soldier because you didn't deploy. Shit leadership drives a lot of Soldier's to get the fuck out.

I had just got to my unit and they were deploying the next day. Like they were getting on the plane the next day. My first formation, I had to go over to the shitbag platoon of the nondeployables. I remember standing there looking around and seeing soldiers with arm braces and leg braces. Looking sick n all. I remember asking a soldier what's up with this platoon? He said we ain't deploying. I laughed and starting poking fun at em all. A few weeks later I ended up in afghan after that IRT course. After we got back, I don't remember seeing half the broke bodies there anymore.
