When command says you’ll never make it in the real world... that’s the biggest disrespect they can give to a soldier. You sacrifice everything for your country, and the moment you want your reward which is to live a normal life upon leaving the service, they want to shit on all that by saying you’ll come crawling back? Phuck that. When you get out, live well. Move onto the next chapter in your bucket list of things to do in life. Don’t give command the satisfaction of you “crawling back”. That’s very rude. The last people you’d expect to disrespect your nation’s warriors are their own command. The greater the sacrifice the more respect is due. Like the old saying, “A bad king is feared or resented by his subjects. But a good king is loved and respected by his subjects.” Command aught to learn from that. Nah Phuck that “one more year” stuff the very first time. I want my reward aka a normal life whether you like it or not. Not signing a reenlistment. Tell President DT to forcibly shift our focus to renewable energy sources so that we’ll have no more need to stay in the Middle East anymore to protect oil assets.

I know this isn't nearly as bad as this story but when my buddy and I were processing out in San Diego, he was still in the process of getting out a few days before his ID expired and the gate guard took it. Couldn't eat at the chow hall, use the gym, legally get on base, all while being held at our prison of a barracks waiting on paperwork to go through. We joked that he could finally say he was a POW.

Unless his entire contract was up (including the years you do as a civilian, but still in IRR, that mp shouldn't have taken his ID. By UCMJ, you are suppose to keep everything, especially your ID until you are officially out. I still have mine, even though I eased in 2017, but still in the IRR unit June of next year. That mp was probably a boot lol.
@27incubus
@27incubus 4 жыл бұрын
Mixed-Rebel That’s a big negative. MP’s are required to take your ID and you have to go get a new one the next working day. It’s normal and happens all the time. Military Police and your CO can actually confiscate your ID. This talk that only CO’s can is absolutely wrong. Also, if he can go get his orders he will be able to enter and leave post, eat at the dfac etc.

My wife, a civilian contractor, has had to travel miles each way at Gov't expense to appear at the same Pentagon office some 14 times in 5 years -- that's right, almost once every THREE MONTHS -- to have re-issued the CAC card she needs to access a client's computer system. The CAC office was always packed, and they never had any of her previous records (had to bring them anew each time, which required a wet-ink signature by a senior Gov't supervisor). It was a self-licking ice cream cone (sinecure) for the staff there, who were none too efficient. She lost half a day of productivity, at $$$ per hour her company charged to the government, in the process. Computer security is important, but the military shoots itself in the foot with certain procedures.

Man, this is so spot on. I was marines infantry, and I remember my bonus they offered me the first time was $32,000 when I was in Iraq (which would have made it tax free),but I hadn't even been in for 2 years yet and kept thinking 6 more years?!? There were guys a rank higher than me getting up to $64,000 + gaining a rank to stay in, and I declined because I just didn't want to commit to another 4 years. In the time between the next time they approached me I had got promoted and had went to some very high level in demand schools. However, the next time around when the conversation came up I got offered just over $3,000 to stay in. Every single senior guy in my platoon (like 24 of us) all got out.

I've got a better one for you. Guy I know was indefinitely extended and it lasted two years. What makes matters worse is that when came back state side, some people in the unit he was in did some stupid shit, in uniform, in town, that effected civilians. His entire unit was restricted from leaving base, and we're assigned extra responsibilities. One of his responsibilities caused him to always show up last at chow, which means he got last pickings. Some of the people who prepped the food during those two years, were later on severely disciplined for beyond improper and inappropriate food prep. So he was getting the last of the worst, and was restricted from leaving and going to some dumpster in town to pick up better food.

You know it's bad when you were getting better food at a semi-remote base in Iraq. The reason it took so long to fix is because the investigation took a long time, because everyone thought it was a problem with the supplier or source, when in reality, the guys in the kitchen were lazy disgusting f***s. To throw salt on the wound, the officers' chow was run just fine by some hard working seasoned cooks, and was overseen by a guy who graduated from culinary school a year before he enlisted. The good news is that the brass did care about their enlisted troops, and when it came out that it was actually the ones in uniform who made the food, they went ape s**t. All of them went before a disciplinary committee, a few of which had everything in the UCMJ thrown at them, landing them in Court Marshall.

Worst thing I've seen happen to a veteran!!! 10 years after being med board out, his local police came to his job, arrested him, put him on a plane in handcuffs, flew him to a military base thousands on miles away, locked him in the barracks and after all that did they finally tell him that was because he was marked awol. He didn't even know why he was being arrested or flown to another state until they put him in barracks lock down. The Post General, BC, CSM, 1SG, and Company commander all agreed to keep him on lock down until he could be out processed. 1 month later they threw a uniform at him with a Spc rank because the only paper work they could find in records and the Pentagon is that he was promoted to a specialist. 2 months later he snuck off base where a limo with his states congresswoman was waiting for him. It took a literal act of Congress to get him back to his state. And all this was because his ets came before he could finish his med board process so the med board NCO was suppose to finish it but didn't.

It reminds me of my separation interview. I got called in to speak with the XO. Had no idea what the subject was, but I was short so no real surprise there. The LT gave me the speech (they must have to memorize it in OCS) while I sat there like a good soldier. After he finished, I told him - "Lt., I'll sign a contract for 20 years right now. Just want a couple of minor items. 1) Direct Commission as a Lt. Col. and 2) a 3 year MAC assignment to London". He just sat there for a few seconds, kind of stunned like before telling me to get out. Based on what I am reading here, I guess I was kind of lucky not to have gotten in trouble for letting my mouth write that check. But that was back in 1968. I'm sure things are a whole lot different now! P.S. I didn't get the commission or the assignment, but I did get to go home.

In the Army Reserve, after 8 years, they tried to get me to stay as they badly needed experienced NCO's, but this was in mid-2001. I handed them a stack of over 200 pages that I asked them to send up the chain of command showing evidence of how dangerous the Anthrax vaccine at that time was and how many soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors had their health ruined by it, along with evidence of systematic suppression of VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) forms, systemic lies about the vaccine, conflicts of interest (former Joint Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Crowe was the Chairman of Bioport, the company that made the vaccine at the time), and countless other issues such as the fact that the program was a violation of the the Nuremberg Codes that we signed after WWII that banned testing drugs on soldiers. To be honest I really wanted to stay as I loved being an NCO and I loved the Army even if it was just the Reserves. My unit was like my second family. But the military treats you like government property and I was not going to be some damn guinea pig to have vaccines and shit tested on me. Once you sign that dotted line, they own you. But I didn't and got out in June 2001. After 9-11 as the buildup for the war in Iraq was going on, they sent me a letter saying I was to report back to duty at my old unit otherwise face arrest. I promptly ignored the letter as I was long past my IRR (Inactive Ready Reserve). I was still amazed that the actually tried to trick me with bullshit like that to get me back in.

They try to pull this shit on you even if you aren't under investigation lol! I was in the Army active duty,spent 4 years in as a Cavalry Scout. Just got to my second duty staion (Ft. Knox) after leaving Germany and coming back from deployment. When I got there my chain of command started putting me in charge of field missions as an E-4 and promising to promote me to E-5. A year goes by with good counseling statements,I'm actually in a E-5 slot with my own soldiers I'm in charge of as Squad leader (still as senior E-4 of the platoon) and I'm sent to the Soldier of the Month board as "prep for the E-5 board". Took first place on the board up to Squadron lvl and fourth place in Regiment lvl. They kept saying we're going to promote you,we promise. 3 months away from my ETS date I'm sent to see the retention NCO(on my first re-enlistment),my offer was choice of 4 shitty duty stations one of which was being deployed where I was just deployed at before, one was my old duty station I just came from who were getting ready to deploy to Iraq,staying at Ft. Knox for another 18 months or going to Korea. No schools were offered,no re-enlisting bonus and you guessed it, I would have to wait until I got to my next duty station to get promoted because I was too short on time now. I said no thanks,I'll just ETS. I've heard the horror stories about people falling for that crap and I'm not falling for it,especially without a decent bonus. 3 months later while on terminal leave on my last day,they held my final platoon formation in the motor pool. I walked through the formation shaking the hands of soldiers I liked saying my goodbyes and flipped off the ones I didn't like telling them to go fuck yourself. Our Platoon Sgt. was a shitbag who I'm pretty sure stole a bunch of TA-50 after he told the EM's that they could stow their gear In the work closet after a field mission for the weekend which I advised was against our policy orders and they shouldn't do it because someone could steal it and they'd be responsible for it,and surprise surprise, it came up missing after the work closet was broken into that weekend. (Our platoon was the only ones who knew it was there) I saved the Platoon Sgt. for the last person to flip off as he tried to shake my hand (he thought it was funny I was doing that until it was his turn lol) and I told him he could go fuck himself for being a p.o.s and for lying to me about the promotion as well as stealing from EM's he was supposed to be taking care of. He went on saying that he was going to give me a article 15 and delay my ETS date and have me on 30 days of extra duty and bust me to E-1 and take my pay. I turned around and flipped him off again as I walked away and said good luck filing that paperwork and getting it pushed through before tomorrow asshole and laughed all the way out of the motor pool to my car and drove off as he kept shouting get back here and drop mother fucker. Never did see that article 15 and left state the very next day.

@@justanaverageguy7293 usually if someone is put under investigation it's for a reason that usually the chain of command is trying to keep quiet about because either they don't have proof,it's false accusations or they want to get proof. I've seen soldiers go under investigation for no reason and it was because the accusations were false. They'll also try to keep it quiet to build a case against the soldier and get all the facts beforehand. I've seen soldiers report stuff on other soldiers just to give them shit and harrass them and I've also been stuck in the middle of that before too having to watch soldiers get in trouble for doing stupid stuff like dealing drugs while I was on QRF duty,not fun stuff. Same guy I was hanging out with in our sister platoon when he got his dui went under investigation and we busted him on QRF with a pound of weed sitting in his barracks bathroom out in the open. His roommate wasn't doing anything but got put under investigation just in case. All depends on the soldiers and the chain of command to be honest as well as the situation as to what is going on and how it's handled. When i was in the National Guard and near the end of my contract. i was offered a promotion to SGT, A deployment, and a 4,000 re-enlistment bonus. Sounds like a good deal right? I finished ROTC with a "Guaranteed Reserve Contract" which had a clause that said something like, "I acknowledge that I may be required to go on active duty for training purposes." I asked, "What does that mean?" "Oh that means that after Officer Basic you might want to and get to go to Airborne or Ranger School." I went on active duty voluntarily and in my platoon in officer basic were three guys that had signed identical "Guaranteed Reserve Contracts" and were told around commissioning, "CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You have been selected for a three year active duty for training tour!" So after 4 months of officer basic they went on to complete their remainder of their three year tour in a troop unit. The Army where guaranteed doesn't mean guaranteed and contracts are flexible on one party!
