9mmkahr: You obviously haven't used one. Their 18v nailers are well regarded by most and are probably the best value around. I saw a video of a Ryobi 18 ga. nailer side by side with a Milwaukee one and they were pretty much the same in terms of performance except that the Ryobi was less than half the price.

Bought one last year for a big metal roof job I had to install batten strips before the panels which the battens had to be fastened to the roof studs on top of the ply wood. This gun saved me tons of time and money also safety issues not having a bunch of air hoses laying around to trip on because we already have safety ropes laying around on the roof. Thanks for the review and yes this framer definitely gets the job done and done right too!!! One more thing while you are buying this it is worth it to buy a extra battery so you always have one charged and ready to blast! Enjoy fellas!!!

I love this nailer. Cant say anything bad if you know it’s limitations. We use a battery circular saw and this gun and it’s nice and tidy with no cords or hoses dragging through the mud. I bought a second battery with it and I’d say that it’s a must. Fantastic review! I agree will all the positive and negative points.

I’ve had the gas cordless hitachi framer for years and it’s a work horse. Needs regular maintenance, which I do in minutes, but performs like a champ. And I’m hard on my tools. Hitachi has been the industry leader in framing guns and my gas cordless kept that lead going. I’m not needing the new gun yet but when I do, I’ll go for the hitachi.

Great review i just bought 2 of these guns brand new from lowes they did a non stock cause of the name change i only paid 50.00 each i e owned a the paslode and switch to the dewalt and the dewalt sucks quit working on only shooting 1/2 box of nails so i was so impressed with the hitachi it shoots fast a d i got 2 of them for 50.00 ea wow cant believe it

We just bought three of these, they will be used in place of Hitachi pneumatics, building 8 hours a day, we ordered two extra new 3 AH batteries and two of the 36 volt batteries, which will give this tool 8 AH. I can report back after a few weeks and let you know how they work. We would love for Hitachi to make a coil roof nailer like this. The only reason for the compressor and hoses is the roof nailer. We are also going to invest in the 36 volt miter saw, trying to go completely cordless, no generator or compressor.

@@alfredomartinez4093 Yes, we used them for 5 days straight just last week. Not a single jam, they are a tiny bit slower than a pneumatic, but you find a rhythm. Overall, we finished a little quicker than when using pneumatic guns. We did not use any air, no compressor or hoses to roll up everyday. No tangled hoses or hoses tangled with electrical cords. The 400 nail count per 3 AH battery is pretty accurate. We start again tomorrow. The plastic on the top of them appear to be a fiberglass ball reinforced plastic instead of a fiberglass strand, the ball type is more impact resistant, probably for the habit of using the pneumatic for a bumping hammer. We caught ourselves several times bumping studs around with the top of the gun.

@@alfredomartinez4093 Almost a year of using them full time framing. No oil needed. Only issue we had was the drivers wearing and bending some nails, this just started happening. We were able to grind the driver flat and they are perfect again. The batteries only last about 4 months, but they are recharged much more often than when using normal cordless stuff. Batteries are only $38.00 for 3 AH. Not bad, definitely better than a compressor and hose all the time.

I loved mine. It worked so well! Although here in Canada it did not like to work in the cold. It was nearly flawless for 5 years but now I think I may need to replace it. I did get a pneumatic Metabo gun and I love the double clip but the cord is a real pain, as is the compressor. I think I will go ahead and replace it. I am curious how other nailers fare in -10C and below temperatures. I rather be inside and finishing then but you know how schedules can go. Sometimes you get caught out in the cold

I am no carpenter, but I love my Hitachi cordless framing nailer. I moved into a house and needed to build a shed, so I used it to frame the 8x14 wood shed. It saved me so much work. Yeah, it was expensive, but worth it. Absolutely loved the power. Maybe had one jam. However, there is a guy on youtube who said he used his in construction for 2 years and showed that now it barely puts a nail into the wood. So maybe with heavy use they die out after a while? I need some new projects to use mine on now.

Have had this for gun ( NR1890 DBCL in the uk) for about 10 months and has jammed twice, both times were user error ( I fired through a knot), don't like the rafter hook , it always swivels round on itself from my hammer hoop and the nose jabs me in the back of the leg ( I think they have a revised and smaller one now) , also didn't realise how powerful it was until I borrowed my mates paslode and it struggled to sink full shank 75mm nails, mine on other hand will sink full shank 90mm all day long, absolute beast of a machine!

I don't need a framing really all that often, but when I'm knocking out small trim jobs, I use my cordless nailer unless I'm setting up for awhile in which case I set up the compressor. the extra weight of the cordless is annoying after awhile. Oh I found hitachi 3 ah batteries on amazon for only 40 dollars.

Nailer looks awesome. If I was doing trades work like framing or remodeling I would definitely use one! When my dad was self employed and doing that type of work I remember getting stuck helping roll up all the hoses! Yuck!

super impressed with mine. Doing an addition, I grew up in the trade but own a farm now. Needed a second nail gun, got tired of passing the only one I had back and forth with my help and about to start roof rafters this week, so... really didn't wanna be sharing a nail gun then. Was a little hesitant from the price, but, I despise paslode, owned several and the maintenance needed on them was a real pain in the butt, plus having to have batteries AND gas cartridges was a bummer, seems like one or the other was always empty, needing a charge or trip to the store to spend $$$ and time. Agree on the needing two batteries, with just framing, it would be hard to outwork one battery before lunch and a chance to recharge it, however when I was sheathing the walls I framed, you fire a lot more nails, so, I did run the battery out. I wish Makita made one, I have all makita cordless tools, but, oh well, I'm happy and I have a nice framer that I don't have to worry about dragging out the compressor and hoses or worse, putting them away at the end of the day! Sheathing, stick with the pneumatic, but for framing, it's hard to beat this thing.

Amen, the thing is so strong you've got to be careful with sheathing. If you do use it for sheathing, you had better have a piece of ply/osb laying around to tune it in. I noticed with sheathing, you have to hold the gun super loose and let it recoil or it will go clear through the sheathing if you push to hard. I effin love this gun though!

I have a handyman service so I don't shoot a ton of nails generally. I just thought the Hitachi was too big and didn't feel as good in my hand. I opted to get the Paslode framer last week for $268.00 at Menards. I have loved my Paslode trim nailer over the years except for when its cold first out of the truck. This gun and the Paslode was a real tough choice for me but 9000 supposed nails on a fuel cell really isn't an issue my for lower nail count.

I have a cordless finish nailer..... worth every penny hitachi is on point they are expensive but so much faster.... 2 batteries the way to go...finish hitachi nailer nails up to 1000 two and a half inch nails per battery, never had a jam

I've had the 30 degree one for two years now. Had to send it in for warranty repair job once, but ive been using it a lot since. Probably about 300 thousand nails through it in total, about 200k after the repair. No way im going back to pneumatics or gas. Im using 2x5Ah batteries on it, and even when sheeting a roof, I never run out of battery completely, usually I change battery every 2 hours when im going to take a break anyway.

I sure hope makita hops on this bandwagon... I have been using their 36V 7 1/4" circ saw daily since December 2018 after watching your (awesome) cordless circular saw vid. I am a residential rough carpenter and this thing gets very heavy use. It just needs a hoseless buddy. I am convinced that Makita eats dewalt and milwaukee for breakfast. As far as the saws, a coworker bought the milwaukee m18 circ saw after seeing my makita in action. The milwaukee is noisy, less powerful and feels a bit awkward in the hand. Cheers

I love the engineering behind this gun and the power but it far to heavy for getting around roofs and the hook needs to be changed to a 50mm like a paslode. It’s a pain to work with compared to a paslode

it uses 3 1/2" nails, so it depends on style of fencing you do. Using deck screws are better but will take a bit longer to finish the job.

Hey Rob. Big fan of the videos. I’m looking to finally get into a line of cordless nailers. These hitachis intrigue me but they feel so heavy. I love the feel and the standard of the Paslode but the gas is a turnoff. What is your opinion(I am a Makita 18v cordless guy and they have yet to make a nailer that impresses me).

I am looking at these as Bosch don't make one now - big omission from Bosch as once I get a second set of batteries and chargers I will no longer stick with them for other machines. Anyway - having watched yours and other reviews I wanted to add one thing - the rafter hook. You can fit a smaller one from other models - but the reason it is bulky is that it can fit on both sides on the gun - and when on same side as the nail dispenser it needs to be wider. Love the reviews though!

I see your review of nails gun but how about run a 1 yr-2 year review and compare what repairs maintenance or fix needs to be done on some of the cordless nailers like loosing air pressure and or that special gas manufacturer puts on how was that experience after have purchased all these brands . @@trueemail9687 Why was it delayed? Well better question is, Why so freaking long? I was shocked that I could not buy the Milwaukee battery powered framing nailer. Its the Milwaukee demos and videos that got me excited. The ability to have a framing nailer that runs solely off battery power, that was music to my ears. Cause I had several home projects that needed a framing nailer but I wasnt thrilled about investing in or even using a pneumatic, not for the projects and their locations. Being that I was fully vested in the Milwaukee M## platform, watching the demo videos with all the hype, I was floored. But when I went looking for one to buy, I got strange looks and into arguments at stores when they kept trying to give me finish nailers and even staplers. I showed them a couple videos of Milwaukee rep using the framing nailer I wanted to buy but at the store they told me it doesn't exist. But I had the videos and the date of them, this product was supposed to exist. I never got a good answer from anyone as to what the heck was the deal. All I know is that Milwaukee didn't have one out and the videos were of something that didn't exist The irony is that it was Milwaukee that got me interested in buying a battery framing nailer. And after I could not get their product, i bought this Hitachi. I didn't own anything of the hitachi platform and now I am looking into buying their cordless circular, sawzall, and triple hammer impact. Cause honestly, this Hitachi framing nailer is really amazingly good. Down right awesome 👍

@@ocre78 The answer I received from their tech support guy was they had difficulty getting it manufactured. Though the prototypes were tested the nailers themselves were not yet in production (in manufacturing) and they had incurred some delays in that process. Not my answer, but theirs.

Everything I have seen says Hitachi is the way to go with cordless brad, pin and framing nailers.. Their prices are competitive as well plus lifetime warranty.. One question, if I were to buy just one framing nailer what angle is best?

Ray B. It depends on what you are doing. Framing nailers and finish nailers are dictated by angle of nail and gauge. Framers you’d want a 30 degree paper strip nailer, 18 gauge and 16 gauge (thicker nail). Are for crown molding, window casing etc, 15 gauge is a thick and usually long nail more used for thick baseboard, and finally your pin nailer is your skinniest smallest fastener. It’s for intricate areas in molding, to picture frames and things like that

Hi Rob, It's the same system that the Senco Fusion nailers use. ' I had one it lasted a year then died. Wasn't serviceable hear in Oz. So I tossed it. This Hitachi 18v framer may be a better product??

Got one and i much prefer it to the paslode. The head is smaller and bit more spiked to dig in at angles . Its also more quiet. Working inside with a paslode my ears would ring. This thing sound like star wars. I like to let nails guns hang on my front pouch then lift and fire. You do notice the weight doing that after a while compared to the paslode. And some overhead stuff i find i use two hands instead of one. Its also easier to fire than a paslode. You really have to push hard with a paslode . This seems shorter and lighter push to fire. I have used bump mode fair bit for batons which is a great feature

I'm currently in m18 and m12 platforms. Thinking about getting framing and finishing nailers. I definitely want cordless. Obviously my framing choices are dewalt or Hitachi. But for finish nailers I have Milwaukee options. I'm not sure which to go with because I don't want to buy a tool that I only use the battery for that tool only. If I'm going to enter into another platform I want options!....... suggestions? Also what do you think of the Hitachi finish nailers?

Matt Baldwin I use the 16 gauge finish nailer and it’s awesome. A little heavier than other brands but well balanced. My friend uses the 18ga brad nailer and loves it as well. I’m 95% Milwaukee but went with Hitachi just for nailers.

If you are just building a shed, go buy a 15 dollar hammer and a box of nails at ace hardware. Tools are like cars, they devaluate extremely quickly, so unless you are a remodeler or apprentice contractor I cannot recommend buying a $400+ tool that you won't need that much

No way u went through that many using it properly cause ive had the same one for about a year of pretty heavy use and havent had any issues . Even in -20 weather . Far from the worst tool ever thats for sure. You need to run minimum 4 amp battery with it, if u ran less that could be an issue too. If the tool was that bad every time they wouldnt of let it even hit the market lol

Have this and the Dewalt framing nailer. The Hitachi nailer makes the Dewalt feel like a toy gun. It's actually sort of intimidating, it just sits totally silently, no mechanical whirring noise or flywheel inertia, and it just effortlessly blasts nails through everything. The Dewalt gun is good by virtue of being gasless/cordless but honestly it just doesn't compare in performance.

the bad thing about this gun is that now it has a nail stuck in the tip and I have to forcefully take it with a technician to repair it because it is impossible to remove the nail without disarming it almost completely. that limits my work. Hitachi have to modify that as soon as possible.

I know it’s kind of heavy but there may be a time where your standing somewhere and need to free up your hands for a minute. 2- How does it toe nail.? 3- I know it’s not going to frame an entire house if you’re a hardcore framer but can you see it framing a small deck or finished basement comfortably.?? 4- Do you have to completely run it to the end before putting in another strip of nails.?? One strip at a time is a bummer. Thanks for your really great tool review.

I have the hitachi cordless gun and the battery is only good for 300 nails. THE 3AP BATTERY IS NO GOOD FOR 400 NAILS. IM 100% SURE. I been using this gun for 2 months

I have worked for thirty four years framing houses in America .Pneumatic nailers are king when it comes to framing houses because electric guns are way too heavy to work all day with.This guy in this video is not a real house framer because he is American as no house framers are American anymore (thanks to your elected officials who prefer Mexicans for their vote and cheap labor costs which is not actually that cheap but that is another topic).These nail guns are good for high cost union outfits who are not really organized with power distribution on construction sites . .
