My 10 yo son has never lived in a home with a microwave. We got rid of ours sometime when my 15 yo was still a toddler. I don’t miss it. You learn how to warm up leftovers in other ways. An air fryer, a toaster oven, and a skillet or pot on the stove meet my needs just fine.

Yes. One time I used a really thin setting on my mandolin to make quick work of slicing up a bunch of onions. They basically melted in the saute pan which is definitely not what I was going for. I prefer chunkier pieces of cooked onion.

Another cookbook....yay! The whiskey burgers looked delicious. I'll be using my air fryer tonight to 'grill' some burgers and a small amount of fries. Maybe it would be a good idea to get some caramelized onions out of the deep freeze for the burgers, wish I had some whiskey to add to the toppings. I'm watching & listening to you as I'm starting my morning 🌅. Those cookies look very pretty. Tomorrow I turn 66. Where do the years go? I'm enjoying listening to you with your children and household. Brings me back. I just read an article about Aldi's best & worst items. Didn't realize the store has good prices on Maple syrup. I love, love, cranberries. Taste like Cherries to me.You like to slice Onion lengthwise. Julia Child would hand her potential chefs and onion and if they didn't cut the onion as you do lengthwise they were instantly fired she just she had a thing about cutting an onion a certain way so you would have made it on Julia child's list of people who excell.

Hello from Winnipeg, Manitoba! I just love watching your channel. It is very comforting and helps me relax after busy days! I feel like you are my kitchen kindred spirit as I cook just like you do. Some of your tips and tricks are old favourites of mine too. So much house work. It was nice that my kids learned to do their own laundry by ten. They had the weekend to git it done and put up,not always done as I would have but one last job for this momma. I used math to teach my son to cook and he is now 42 and is always trying to out cook me and out bbq his Dad. My daughter doesn't really like to cook but since she's on her own she does well on the things she knows how to cook. If your children do cook it would be nice to see them do so. I know some kids my watch with their parents and get the cooking bug. As you work on your second cookbook kids can know they are helping by doing inside chores.

I made meatloaf in the crockpot yesterday. It was great and stayed together in one piece. Also, wrapped some russet potatoes and nestled them around the loaf. Six hours later, voila! And it freed me up to do other chores and errands. Tonight, I'm thinking hot meatloaf sandwiches and instead of gravy, that onion-whiskey sauce might be delicious. Take care and glad everyone is well again. Marcy

Wait. You are Catholic and from Wisconsin. We are Catholic and from Wisconsin (just moved to Pa. for a new job). How did we not know about you? And you are an author! Niiiiice. Orange + cranberry = SO awesome. Burnt tater tots? 😭😭😭😭 You are so like me with turning lights off like crazy! Whiskey burgers....oooooh! Yeah, not feeling the Jalapenos, but just me. Fried onions FTW! We always order our cheesesteaks here in Philly "wit" - with onions. And can you create smell-o-vision with the whiskey & onions? Cheddar. BONUS. We tried a home schooling life. Simply couldn't do it with what was on our plate. But we've found a fantastic set of Catholic schools that have done the job. Bless you for finding the right balance. We are on board!

Jennifer, what do you do when Maria eat so little bit of food? Does she have something else later. I have a very picky eater at home and I get frustrated when she doesn't eat. Any tip on that?
@acountrylife2 жыл бұрын
If she puts real effort into eating supper then I'll let her have a snack from the earth (fruit or veggie). Really she doesn't ask for snacks much, though, because she eats so little. I know it'll change as soon as she hits 10. Seems like both my girls started eating more around that age.
@MNTNSTARZ80.2 жыл бұрын
My daughter tended to be a picky eater when she was young, I let her eat whatever or how much she wanted. It wasn't worth getting frustrated, all that would have done is upset both of us. Heck, she went through a phase of not wanting breakfast, I made oatmeal cookies with less sugar and tons of raisins, meh had same ingredients as a bowl of oatmeal.
