SPRITZ CHRISTMAS TREES (Candy Cane Cookies pg. 64)
1\2 c. butter
1\2 c. shortening
1 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. almond extract
1\2 tsp. vanilla
2 1\2 c. flour
scant 1\2 tsp. salt
1\2 tsp. green food coloring
Cream fats and powdered sugar. Blend in eggs, almond extract, and vanilla. Sift together flour and salt. Add to creamed mixture, stirring well. Stir in food coloring (use tip from video). Place dough in cookie press and turn handle to release tree shaped dough onto cookie sheets. Bake 5 minutes at 375 degrees. Before baking top with sprinkles if desired.

This was so sweet, thank you for letting us share your Christmas a little. I'm working hard to get a quilt made for my daughter's birthday next week so all my Christmas decorations are still up including the tree, haha. I never use anything but name brand of cream cheese. I use Philadelphia Cream Cheese, chopped green onion and milk until it is disable. Great chip dip.

Yes!! The old school cookie press! You are right the first couple come out not so great...those are the ones we pick up and put into a bowl...we usually make 3-4 different colors of dough...when switching out the dough in the cylinder the remains go in the bowl too...at the end we mix all the dough and have tye dye dough. Anyways I got excited to see the press! I inherited two from family members, one being my Grandma who I made Spritz with all the time when I was little. I absolutely loved pressing them out and putting sprinkles on😍 I have to say there is so many similarities you do and have that I can relate to...thank you for the nostalgia Sending love❤

I make a chip dip using garlic powder and onion salt and milk mix it in with the cream cheese. And you just do the onion and garlic powder to taste.

We made bacon wrapped lil smokies and sprinkle brown sugar over (about 1/2 a cup) before baking. They are so good, and we only make them on Christmas Eve and/or New Year's Eve. We also do "heavy appetizers" for Christmas Eve after we get home from Christmas Eve service. Joe looked so nice in his church clothes!

I'm glad you use the whole stalk of celery. I knew a woman who was teaching how she made soups, when she cut off and discarded the whole top and white parts, I asked her why. Her reason was the whites are bitter and leaves poisonous. I just sat there blinking in disbelief, then asked where she got that nonsense from. Apparently her grandmother told her. I asked if she, herself, ever tasted the white part, of course she hadn't. I told her to taste some, she was pleasantly surprised she was wrong and I pulled up on my phone a site proving that leaves aren't poisonous, then had her taste them, again she was surprised by the flavor
