I like the Half Rounds, don't like when a bass has a too bright and 'ringing' sound that you get from round wound strings -- I like to pluck or strike the strings quite hard ( sometimes with a BIG hard, but half flexible, plec) to give it a full, resonant, deep bass tone.

Love the tone of that bass. Beautiful instrument. I thought all but the second set sounded good. The half rounds sounded best but I think I'm going with the tapewounds because I like that old timey sound best.

Very helpful. Either the Chromes or Halfrounds for me.

GREAT video!! I picked up some D`Addario half rounds for my Dean playmate, and what a difference!! Went from sounding really tinny to sounding fuller and a meaty sound!! Thank you!!

There's a wide Plethora of sounds you can get out of this Bass by using any set of Strings. Electric Bass Strings give clarity to already darker instruments.

I'd love to hear what you think of the new GHS Pressurewound Bronze on the Balor - they have the tone of the bronze but not the squeaks and finger noise. Great on fretless ABGs! I thought the Chromes sounded the best of this bunch - louder than I expected!

Nice review! Are those half wounds made specifically for acoustic bass?
@agitatorjr3 жыл бұрын
No, only the first set was made for accoustic.

The Half wounds sound great. Definitely what i would go for. I detest tape wounds, seem to lack presence but have too much high end at the same time.

Hi Chris...thanks for your comment 😊

It's a terrific comparison and a beautiful sounding instrument. However, I'm considering an instrument that costs 1/10 of that one which is not known for its acoustic sound quality. It would be incredibly useful to have heard this comparison using the piezo pickup. Do you have a string recommendation when used strictly through an amplifier? From what I understand, bronze strings often have higher tension than most bass guitar strings. Did you encounter any issues in that regard? Thank you.

Which give the electric Humbucker pickup sound best?
@emeraldguitars7 ай бұрын
For electric pickups it is best to use Electric bass strings such as the D'Addario chromes or half-flats. You can always get in touch with us at sales@emeraldguitars.com for help on orders and specifics.

Can you string an acoustic bass with electric bass strings? I dislike the way brass strings feel.
@TheSilence16 жыл бұрын
This acoustic bass supposedly has the same scale length as any standard sized electric bass, so yes electric strings will work and will have the proper amount of tension. If you have a different bass you'll have to look up the scale length for yourself. The standard scale length for electric bass is 34 inches.
@Atomicgherkin6 жыл бұрын
Right, cheers! What other strings would you recommend for an acoustic bass? No brass strings, please.
@troykeys-applyingprinciples3 жыл бұрын
@@Atomicgherkin Normally No. I don't know about this bass specifically, but generally acoustic bass guitars are at 30lbs of pressure, where an electric bass is 50 lbs of pressure. I warped one of my acoustic basses by playing with electric strings for years.

They're marketed as acoustic basses, Washburn's higher end ones are like this too. Sound hole at the top for some reason.
@Stabacs2 жыл бұрын
@@dylanj8676 the soundhole on top allows the bass player to hear the bass better. If it is on the front, the sound goes away from you, if that makes sense
