The biggest problem with the electric is that it Doesnt matter how hard you press the strings... so that the notes sound so dead

Nice to see you back! You probably don’t want to hear this, but I greatly prefer the standard sound from a microphone placed a bit away from your instrument. The sound of the pickup by itself isn’t very pleasant; the reverb improves it somewhat but still makes it sound artificial, as if you're playing in a small room that sounds like a Gothic cathedral. Maybe using different reverb settings might help, but using a regular microphone means you're getting a lot more complexity to the sound due to the body's resonances, along whit the natural acoustic "reverb" that comes from the mic picking up both direct and reflected sound, and that complexity is what makes it sound "real" in a way that the pickup, even when post-processed, doesn’t.

Oh, I thought electronic violins were just as good as acoustic ones! Now I'll know I was wrong)) Exactly a live violin sounds much better. So buying the pickup is very useful and justified. 👍

Your violin is indeed ''warm'' sounding and I absolutely LOVE It! Electric Violins are good for practicing if you need to be quiet but nothing compares to an acoustic one. Each one has a slightly different sound and then the sound changes again through the passion of the person playing it. That pickup is nice but you're violin sounds beautiful with and without the pickup as well. I do I love the effects you can add to the pickup.

hello. I have kind of the same pick-up and my friend liuthier helped putting the sensitive part between the "anima" and the "piano armonico" . The pick up is now all time on this violin. Then I use to have the connection on the right side playing because it is more practical. Nice! I have a similar pick-up (a Fishman). Haven't used it yet in performances though (partly due to corona 😅). I thought they were supposed to go on the side of the G string by the way. But I guess it depends on the violin.

I felt the same. I would rather invest in a fine accoustic violin. However wolfe notes on the G-String in Violins under 12k can be problematic. Electric violins are consistently smooth

Well, if I were to use a pick up like you have, I would say if I couldn’t get it in Bluetooth or you wouldn’t have to fool with that corde but it might experience I like And Acoustic sound rather than electric sound but that is my opinion you play however, you want to send a pretty good so far

In an indie folk since beginning of 2019 and having both played electric and accoustic violin. All of my bandmates said the accoustic one sounds much nicer but I'll use the electric for more hard rock style songs that emerge within our setlist over time. Currently my accoustic violin uses The Band 2 wraparound pickup and it unfortunately causes the accoustic violin to have a very ugly distortion! It wasnt cheap either and said it's designed for classical violin sounds. Obviously I was feeling so gutted until one gig night in Leeds, a bloke who plays folk violin showed his pickup which is like yours but made by L R Baggs. I told him about the distortion issue and he said that these wraparound pickups are notorious for causing such bad quality of sound and there is little you can do about it. So now I'm going to switch to this design of the pickup shown in this video - a proper design without any rattling, scratching and distortion

Amazing! How long have you been playing ? There are Smart Phone Apps that are audio spectrum analyzers. Might be interesting to re-visit this comparison and SEE the sound diff. Would also LOVE to hear thus comparison with you playing Tchaikovsky's Concerto in D Major Opus 35 !

When I perform with my electric, I mic an Orange Combo Bass Amp with the gain up and the tones set heavy on the bass and mid to give it more guts so it doesn't sound so tinny. I also use a Boss multi effect pedal to get a little reverb and delay. There's something about the transducer sound that's off putting so getting a deeper, fuller sound helps.
