I am curious if one could digitally simulate a stereo room environment. Mix and master a recording into that environment and compare the results to a poorly treated room mix.

slate has VSX headphones that model pretty much any room type and speaker. Would be a cool experiment though

Thanks as always Dennis, more great food for thought. Intersting comment about micing drums. Reminded me about a comment you made about the sound of a Leslie in a recording you were listening to. In my experience the Leslie is difficult to mic and to reproduce.

Yes it is. It is difficult to get the direct energy from the Leslie and the room sound balanced. I think the real Leslie sound needs more of the room to give it that wonderful tone since it is really a radiating horn.
