I have this guitar's twin, the Simon & Patrick Songsmith and I can attest that this is all the guitar that anyone could ever need. I absolutely adore it! Having said that, my Songsmith is an older model and is a traditional Martin-Style square-shouldered dreadnought as opposed to this Gibson-Style sloped-shouldered dreadnought. I much prefer the look and the sound of the traditional dreadnought as the sloped-shouldered design looks like a traditional dreadnought that has been slightly melted. As you also pointed out, the lows are more pronounced in a traditional dreadnought and I find that it gives a more wholesome dreadnought sound.

I love Seagull Guitars! I use to have a Seagull 12 string years ago until someone dropped an amp on it. Now I have a Seagull Entourage Black CW GT QI... awesome cedar tone.

My Pop took me too Guitar Center today, (I haven’t gotten a new guitar since 2009) so I was due for an upgrade the first guitar I picked up was this Seagull. I felt instant love for it, but I wanted to try other guitars. (Ofc I loved messing around with the Taylors but waaay out of my Price Range). I spent 4 hours in the store and tried atleaast 10 guitars. Out of all of them I kept coming back to this Seagull. It was meant to be so, as a Birthday Gift I finally have a really beautifully crafted guitar, I got back from work today at 10PM and now as I’m typing this I still have it strapped around me haha. I love this guitar and it’s sound I’m was very satisfied with this gift and I’ll forever cherish it for years to come.

Excellent review. I’m especially glad that you mentioned the scale length and resulting playability. I have old-man pains in my fretting hand and have gotten rid of two Taylors as a result. My 20+-year-old S6 fit me perfectly but my daughter just had to have it. And now, wouldn’t you know, Godin is making fewer short-scale Seagulls when it used to be their standard. I have no idea why, other than to punish my playing style.

I recently had the luck to buy one of those myself for a great value. Over here in Europe these are sold between 499 and 799, I got mine for 499 and I am very satisfied with it. I play acoustic guitars for years now and started with an Yamaha APX I and i feel like this instrument feels better than the yamaha. Cheerz from Germany

6:20 that is NOT a low action, you could drive a truck under those strings ! These guitars can be adjusted to have a super low action without buzzing or loss of sustain.

It’s hard to tell from the angle they’re recording that from. It certainly FEELS like a low action when you play it. Very easy on the fingers. Playing one improved my fluidity and quickness. I don’t think I ever played a guitar that made me sound so good.

@@wellesradio In general I play Godin on stage, but have an old Seagull too. I was able to lower the action on mine massively without buzzing or loss of tone etc. To have the action so high is bad for your playing and all the tiny muscles in your hands. Almost all professional players wont settle for high action on acoustics long term. I personally don't know any working musician who prefers playing / gigging with an uncomfortable high action. My comment was just to draw attention to the discrepancy between what you can do to lower the action and playability on Seagull guitars and the height of the strings shown here. Seagull guitars can be setup to play like $4000 + instruments. ( in my experience )

I own a 2011 Seagull Entourage Rustic with the wild cherry back and sides, and a solid cedar top. Great guitar, but the Autumn burst you are playing also sounds very nice with the spruce top. Good demo!!! Have you tried their cedar topped guitars?

Wow you've done this before, lol seriously though good job! The S6 line is what I am looking at in my price point $399. although an Epiphone Masterbuilt DR400 for the same price and it being all solid wood is a possibility , I too love that headstock. Anyways thanks David

First of all thanks for the video, as a completely novice I do have an open question for all who could help me. I heard good things about seagull s6 original but didn’t see any others listed on recommend list. Shoud i go with seagull s6 original Qit /or/ I should go with seagull entrouge autumn burst CW QIT?

The s6 is the most famous Seagull, the Entourage is less known. From what I hear is that the s6 is has a better sound for chords and the Entourage has a better sound for fingerstyle but that is personal opinion ofcourse! If you have the possibility it's best to hold and try them both. You will probably click with one of the two more. The big difference in playability is the neck for the Entourage's neck is much more narrow than the thick s6 neck. If you like the s6 more but prefer a more narrow neck you can always go with the s6 slim. But remember whatever choice you make, you can't go wrong with a Seagull.

Really great sounding instrument but this review has failed to comment on the real life problems with this specific model. For sure it sounds really good but ... I bought this guitar for my teenage daughter but we ran into serious quality control issues with it. The Silver leaf Maple neck is so soft that a Capo cannot be used without denting the neck. The wood is as soft as butter, the lacquer stared peeling off immediately. This instrument will not be able to survive playing conditions for more than a year before disintegrating.

I've had a Seagull S6 CW for 20 years, no capo problems at all. The neck stain is wearing off a bit but that's all. The cedar top is a bit soft (good tone) but easily dented

I've had mine since 2015 and no problems. Been playing for 35 years and have guitars costing 5 times more, Southern Jumbo for one.
