Acronym is held by many as the pinnacle brand for cutting edge design with technical fabrics and features. This brand carries a lot of weight with it's name; in this video I share my thoughts on the J44L-GT from SS16. ... I also style it

I think the system where you can "wear the bag inside your jacket" by using the flap on the right side of the jacket is the allow you to allow be wearing the bag, whether it be putting it on or taking it off, the bag is always worn by the user. But when you "wear the bag outside the jacket", you always have to remove the bag before putting on the jacket or taking it off.

well done! i like that you took the plunge and are trying out acrnm. I once tried on a J1 at the workshop where we designed jacket slings with erlsn and he suggested i might once try a size L and it could fit me better than the m ... still on the fencem but who knows stuff about acrnm but erlsn? btw, those hoods from the 16th century were one of the first hoods from which the current ones are derived from - there is actually a lot of stuff that was invented back then (and due to the move to fast fashion with standard sizes now fits worse than back then). I notice a little bit of movement that the jacket rides up when you lift your arms ... pretty hard to avoid that with cuts but i guess this is a sign that the jacket does not fit perfectly. or there is a potential for acrnm to make a different pattern to include more freedom of movement - i really like seeing these details in reviews of high end brands since these are the points where we can learn much from the design and still think "what would I do differently?". pocket design flashes me right now. the thought of using use one pocket as the storm flap for the zipper/handwarmer pocket is great - this is a really nice freature, and from your movements in the video well executed by acrnm. how do you feel about the jacket sling being on the outside? does that ever hinder you when getting from a rainy walk through the city into the subway and then having to use the sling to hang a wet jacket onto your body? do you think a jacket sling should be on the outside or teh inside? or are you indifferent to this? what is the benefit of having the sling on the outside in your opinion? i might have to clarify a tech fact: 3L is the standard fabrication mathod for long lasting expedition grade waterproof/breathable fabrics - and there are not 3 goretex layers, at least not 3 membrane layers. Its constructed with a membrane sandwiched between 2 face fabrics - the outer one is oftentimes an abrasion resistant layer like a cordura (sont know ehat fabric is used in the acrnm shell but i suspect its a kind of nylon weave) and the inner layer is mostly to protect the membrane from the oil ans sweat we humans tend to produce and which can clog up the mmebrane and reduce its waterproofness and breathability. as to the fits: i really like the fit with the acg cargo pants (1st fit) ... before seeing this i always thought the cargo pants were not o my taste since if you remove the pockets the zippers are exposed and free floating on the jacket without serving much function and therefore contrasting the zipperless other parts of a fit. but here you have a jacket which also has many zipper parts and one free floating zipper ... which balances that look really well. the other three fits are great as well, really simple and stylish. the jacket is very versatile i guess, you can wear it with heavy zippered cargo pants and also with very minimal merino baselayers and chinos. nice! you've broadened my perspective.

Thank you, Martin! I really appreciate it! I remember seeing that pic of you at the workshop with him! That must have been a cool experience for him to teach that workshop! very interesting fact about those early hoods! Mass producing clothes has too, well produce for the masses (and cheaply, with costs to cheap as well) In terms of the fit, I have to balance between length and width! I have relatively broad shoulders which can make some clothes difficult to fit precisely. I know you are tall and slim as well. But that's nice you got the professional sizing recommendation from errolson! The pocket design is unique but still remains to be subtle which is one of my favorite aspects of this jacket! Since the J44 doesn't have a waist cinch, the strap on the outside can aid in the fit of the jacket, as it pulls it closer to the body. Where I live it doesn't rain that much but objectively speaking, it is more functional to have the strap attached to the inside of the jacket (keeps it from getting wet, keeps a wet jacket from touching the dry underclothes when in use, provides a cleaner look) I had a brain glitch when I said layers of Gore-tex instead of membrane lol! You are the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to textile technology! You have a good point with the first fit! the zips can create a cohesive look! I have been looking for an acrnm piece for a while now, but wanted to pick up one that could be so versatile that I could wear a lot (also one that fit my slim frame better than a boxier cut)

IMO fit 3 was the best one. Idk why you were complaining about the pants, to me they were just the right amount of baggy to combo with the jacket. While fit 1 was a lil bottom heavy with the cargos emphasizing your hips and I often find wearing blazer-style jackets, such as my DS-J5 ,with skinny pants awkward since it's still a roomy jacket. These struck a good middle ground and the crop was great for hightop sneakers, although I guess maybe a little short for lowtops. Great video overall!
