Great info Krista, I have a set of acrylic paint pens by Craft Smart & I'll do the same thing, paint an underpainting with acrylic paint & then use the acrylic pens for detailing. I've recently got a 72 set of Paul Rubens Haiya oil pastels & I'm really impressed. It's kinda hard for me because I'm balancing my art with my music & have been gigging quite a lot for the last 7yrs. down here in SW Florida, but your videos are very inspiring & helps me to get through it all, thanks so much. Keep On Creating, Rock On & God Bless.

Really interesting video, thank you. I use acrylic markers on top of alcohol ink when I want to add a layer of detail as the acrylic paint will not reactivate the alcohol ink underneath. I also have Ohuhu markers - I bought them after much research on the topic, and decided that they seemed the best value for money quality-wise. 🥰

I think both markers work really well together!! Thank you! ❤️❤️
@Richiedei502 ай бұрын
@ Just markers together fine but if you’ve created something in alcohol ink and don’t want to reactivate it, acrylic is the best option - unless of course that is the effect desired.

@@Richiedei50can you explain a bit what you meant by reactivate the ink ? I am just finding out about acrylic paint pens when i have been just learn to draw and paint and find this introduction into to paint pens when i ve only considered painting with brushes and digital..there seems to be much more options and layers that i think to do from graphic design in a software that you artist are doing analog. I am wondering in my head if alchol chemicals and acrylic would be enemies ...but only bc of think of nail please polish like alcohol ink would upset paints but im sure thats bc I'm ignorant of chemistry Thank you both for educating us further.
@Richiedei50Ай бұрын
@@itowilltubeNo problem. If an alcohol ink creation has dried it can be reactivated (brought to life again) if you add more alcohol or alcohol ink. The effect may be limited if you draw on top with alcohol markers but you could risk a blooming effect caused by the alcohol from the pen creeping into the dry part and forever changing its appearance - a bit like blotting paper. I would try this out on an experimental page first - this is what I do and then cut out shapes of the decent parts to use as gift tags. Drawing on top of alcohol ink with acrylic markers does not activate the alcohol ink as one is water based and the other alcohol and they don’t mix (to dilute). Another way of adding various layers - even alcohol on top of alcohol is by spraying with a sealant (always do this in the open air if possible - always protect your lungs) and making sure it’s dry before adding more. One tip: You can easily clean alcohol ink off hands and surfaces with hand sanitizer rather than iso especially because iso is toxic and you should avoid it coming into contact with your skin if at all possible. Hope this helps.💖

Thanks for the explanation. I do wonder if the alcohol markers bleed through paper. My journals are Canson mixed media and watercolor. So those are the papers I use.
@KristaIreneArt2 ай бұрын
Thick paper will soak up the ink. If you use alcohol markers I would use marker paper. They do go through the paper but I also have marker paper from Ohuhu that lets you draw on both sides and the ink doesn’t go through.

@@KristaIreneArt Thanks, I'll stick with acrylic and watercolor.

Thank you for the interesting info. I am usually using watercolor and lightfastness is a big issue with this medium. Do you know where to get information about the lightfastness of the markers?
@KristaIreneArt2 ай бұрын
Thank you! Each brand probably has information on their website about the lightfast. I use markers mainly in my art journal.

Hello! 💖your work. I've purchased a box of arrtx but feel my strathmore mixed media paper is sucking the markers dry. What paper do you prefer & do you store your acrylic markers horizontally? Thank you
@KristaIreneArtКүн бұрын
I usually use my markers on regular sketch paper simply because it is all practice. I find regular sketch paper does not soak up all the ink or paint. I store my markers upright with the tops facing down. I hope that helps!!

Do you know how watercolour paper takes alcohol markers?
@KristaIreneArt2 ай бұрын
I recommend using marker paper for markers because it won’t soak up all the ink.
@juditszepessy89362 ай бұрын
My watercolour paper does not take Posca markers well.
@KristaIreneArt2 ай бұрын
Watercolor paper is made to hold a lot of water so it will soak up any liquid you use including acrylic or ink. I use mixed media paper or marker paper for any ink or acrylic markers.

@KristaIreneArt2 ай бұрын
Yes they are also alcohol markers. The ones I use are but there are a variety of sharpie markers out now some are even oil based and water based. But traditional sharpie markers are alcohol based. ✨
