I want to paint black silhouettes on top of my poures, to ad a bit of a story to them. or just write text on some. but some of them got a bit of a problem with bubble holes, could one add some medium on top that still can be painted on and still will keep the looks on the background, that can make the new surface more flat. I think I need some finish in the end abow the silhouettes too. And maybe you got any advices on what type of colors could be painted directly on top of pouring paintings, if they don't have that issues with bubbles. or do you recommend to use a sealer of some kind in any case, between these two sections? and do you have any video about adding extra content on top of the pourings? it would be very helpful.

I do have one video about embellishing pours - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2LWhKKXZ5Wjgas You can definitely varnish before embellishing and then varnish again to protect the embellishments. Any good varnish like Liquitex will work great. Even resin if you want to go to the expense and trouble would work. If you varnish between layers you can literaly use almost anything. Acrylic paint (most common), spray paint, termpera etc. I wouldn't recommend using oild based paints unless you are very careful about the varnishes you put on.
@linneahulten4052 жыл бұрын
@@LeftBrainedArtist thank you! Will watch it. And save your ideas in here. I don't believe I will try to learn resins ATM. That seems scary. Maybe in future.

I find it is too light and doesn't go where I want it too. I might have to place it on the table and then put paint on the end to give it some weight. I haven't used a lot of ready to pour but it might still need some water. I have heard they are too thick out of the bottle.

If you are trying to make skins and it’s coming out to thin to peel off what should you do, I tried putting more paint in to thicken my paint but it didn’t really get thicker?
@LeftBrainedArtist5 ай бұрын
Depends on the pouring medium. Glue and floetrol are really thin. Add a little bit of liquitex or another professional pouring medium to give it some body and they will peel off way better. 10% or so of the total mix is plenty.

So the color you swipe with should be a little thicker than the rest of the colors?
@LeftBrainedArtist2 жыл бұрын
Opposite, slightly thinner. And a few of my later vidoes show that using a "denser" paint as the swipe color makes a mig difference too.
@joeycasey23232 жыл бұрын
Hi, I thought putting the silicone in the colours directly on the canvas could cause the silicone to reach the canvas in some places? Is that not true? I have been putting a base coat down then the colours and it just seems like way too much paint.
@LeftBrainedArtist2 жыл бұрын
You are more likely to get spots if you have silicone in the colors on the canvas for sure. That's the #1 reason for bare spots especially on the edges. How much paint have you been using and how big of a canvas?
@joeycasey23232 жыл бұрын
@@LeftBrainedArtist Well my paint was quite thin and I was using a 12 by 16 canvas so about 6 oz. of base paint, but then when I added the colours for the swipe I think I did too much, I even poured some off. But obviously not enough because as it dried I told my husband that it looks like a unicorn threw up on my canvas. Very bright colours but all smudged together! lol

the problem im having with my swipe is the paint is either not making it to the bottom end or.. not enough on the top portion or leaving too much of my swipe color at the top. any ideas? also making sure the ends ofmy canvas not having enough
@LeftBrainedArtist2 жыл бұрын
So I have both those things happen and I fix it by tilting/spinning the middle pattern out to the sides. That being said, paint that is too thick or that you pull too much on the swipe is a common reason for too much at the beginning. Not pulling enough with the swipe at the end or the bottom layers of paint being too thick is a common one for not having paint at the end. Without being able to see an example though I am just guessing but I hope that helps a little.

How many pours did you do before it felt like you were getting the hang of making pours with cells?

hi I tried swipe today but it was just a mess I didn't got any cells. Is there any way u can please write down the portions and also let me know what paint should be thinner and what should be thicker by consistency, also I tried it on 12 by 12 inch canvas can I reuse that canvas???
@LeftBrainedArtist2 жыл бұрын
You can reuse the canvas for sure. The portions are going to depend on the quality of paint you use and the medium that you use. I do have other videos that detail those out depending on the technique. This blog might help also -leftbrainedartist.com/acrylic-pour-swipe-technique/

@@LeftBrainedArtist how do I reuse the canvas plus the medium I use is a local brand but is quite good as I tried other pourings it was quite smooth.
@LeftBrainedArtist2 жыл бұрын
@@muneebachhipa4080 The pouring medium might be your problem. Some pouring mediums like liquitex don't work with silicone oil very well. Also, using a paint that is very heavy (cheap paints don't generally fit in to this category) as your swipe makes this work better.
@arqMyriamBM3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I've been trying the pouring technique since one month ago and your videos are really interesting. I like the way you explain the techniques. The alcohol worked better for me than the silicones. Though I haven't achieved those big cells so far. I've read from your blog that we shouldn't stir the acrylic, but even though there's no way I can get the cells so big. Any advice? Thank you.
@LeftBrainedArtist3 жыл бұрын
Stir in the silicone really good. Do your dirty pour/flip cup/etc. The tilt your canvas to half of your painting surface BEFORE you torch. Torch slightly where you want cells from pretty high up. Then tilt the rest of your canvas and torch again at the end. You can get a little closer in areas where you don't have cells where you want smaller cells. Then let it sit.

I went on your website and printed your info about swipe techniques. I am a little confused. I think you said only use silicone on the base not on the swipe color but if you don’t have silicone in your swipe color you will most likely get tons of tiny cells. The swipe color will also stay on top of the other colors in your places making it look more like a wash over the top of your painting. I will be doing my first swipe tomorrow and just need clarification on this. Thank you. Your base is the pillow color right first layer of paint before you lay the colors to swipe.
@LeftBrainedArtist3 жыл бұрын
You can put the silicone on the swipe paint but I find that if you use a heavy paint (like the titanium white in my black and white video) and you put the silicone in the base paints you get much better results. The swipe paint is thinner slightly so the surface tension should already be less than the base paints and it shouldn't need any more "help" from silicone. Using a little alcohol (tops per cup) or flow-aid could help also.
@electricjoshaloo3 жыл бұрын
if you use aussie floetrol for your swii\pe color you will get much better results than this. 3:1 or 4:1 Flo to paint
