Hi Barry, great to hear from you. The ready reckoner you want in the Viper is on page f20 to f22 (in my version) The one I use in the video is from RD Treloar Gas Installation Technology, it’s a great book. Cheers and good luck with your relicence!

@@pro-powerflushing It’s a good book. I used it a lot. Bit old-fashioned but I think it will explain things better for you.

So when working out the ventilation for an appliance, is it the heat max rated input or output you use as the kw of the appliance to do your calculations with
@passyourgas Жыл бұрын
It’s heat input. You only use output figures for coal or wood burning appliances. Cheers.

For example say you have 2 flueless appliances in a room, you’ve worked out the ventilation for both, tumbler dryer & a flueless water heater, the room volume is 9.6m3 & it’s a utility room, they each require 100cm2 squared of ventilation for combustion, so you’ve worked out 100cm2 for the tumble dryer, 100cm2 for the water heater, what I’m confused about is do u add the 2 calculations together so 100 X 2 = 200cm2 or because they both require 100cm2 each do you just go with the 100cm2, some info would be much appreciated, thanks

Hi Shredder .. the case above is a simple one .. neither of those appliances is a space heater so they both go into the “other” category. You add up the total CATEGORY requirement so in this case it’s 200cm2 and that’s what you provide as ventilation. I hope that helps..remember, it’s categories that count not individual appliances. Thanks for your question.

Hi sir, Regarding to IGM G11 ,if flued space heater installed in a siting room with no ventilation,is it ID or AR ? Thanks for your help.

Hi, thanks for the question. If the fire is Open Flued and larger than 7kw then it is ID if there is no ventilation. I hope that answers your query. Thanks

Aswell as with pipe sizing do you use the max rated heat input or output to size the gas pipe

Hi Cazza…yes, always! Imagine it like this…if you had a Ferrari that goes 200mph you wouldn’t fit it with brakes that only work up to 70mph because that’s the speed Limit. You’d fit it with brakes capable of working at full speed. Same with ventilation and gas appliances. Most tests on appliances are carried out at full rate then you put the appliance back to its “as found” state. I hope that helps. Cheers

Is a 5 year old viper book still current?

No. You need the latest version as many new regs have come into place.
