Thank you Allen. Excellent videos. I'm learning a lot. My boss just gave me a book called essential gas safety, and that was it. It helps having somebody who knows what they're doing explain things in layman's terms. Also are you teamed up with anybody that provides the CCN1 (I've not done it before). However I have plenty of experience in water plumbing, and have been working with a gas safe engineer for about 3 months now, 5 days a week. I'm based in Bradford.

Am I right in saying that there should never be and snots in the pre cast chimney as the brickies work would be checked before hand ? Great and informative video like all of then. Thanks 👍

out of curiosity what would you class a flue with only 2 starter blocks instead of 3, and what would you class the snots in the chimney also thanks. and what could you do about either.

Hi Allen, quick question, I think a couple of others have asked it below. When you find incorrect starter blocks or snots in a precast flue, how would this be classed, AR, ID or nothing? IGEM isn't specific. Is it fine if it passes a flue flow test or do a number of these faults together add up to make it an AR as per IGEM 5.9 or something else? Thanks.
@AllenHart9992 жыл бұрын
That would down to you to decide. Personally i may put it as AR but it might be best to speak with GAS Safe. Thanks

Hi. Does a flu to a.gas fire need brushing out. If it hasn't been done for two years. As some of the smoke was coming back in the room from the smoke test
@AllenHart999 Жыл бұрын
I would advise you to have it checked asap. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the video. Can I ask, why are the pre-cast blocks offset with each other?
@AllenHart9993 жыл бұрын
That's a very good question. I am guessing it’s so they can be tried into the brickwork. Thanks.

Hi, there are 2.5 starter blockes, snotts, but flue flow test(smoke match and smoke pallet ) passed. Is this chimney passed or not? If visual inspection have got some problems is that chimney can be pass..

So when you have to warm the flue up to stop it spilling for 10 minutes . Should I leave me blow lamp there so the customer can do the same . Or is it ok to spill for the 1st 10 minutes ?
@lestc85793 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean ( i think ) basically they , the manufacturers/gas safe are saying that its perfectly acceptable for the appliance to spill for 10 minutes while you sit next to it warming yourself up.. Not great is it 🤔
@normanboyes49833 жыл бұрын
I think it is a recognition of the physics that the chimney will not draw properly until there is warmth in the chimney structure. Most lads of my age learned that by the age of about 10 - with coal fires when you learned all the tricks including ‘ forcing the draught ’ using a poker and a sheet of newspaper.😉
@markrainford12192 жыл бұрын
@@lestc8579 You don't worry about standing over your gas hob for an hour with no flue whatsoever though, do you?
