I got into action man in the 90's huge nostalgia for that line, i do own some 40th anniversary figures and they are really nice, iam currently looking for the older vehicles and playsets, you have such an amazing collection, i remember as a wee kid my big cusin owning a few frogmen, and the raft

I'm glad there was a happy ending to this saga. When I watched your other videos, where you talked about how the rubber deteriorate so badly, you seemed a little down and defeated on this one particular problem (rightly so, watching your money disintegrate). I think the neoprene suits look excellent...and it's a more authentic material. Another great video, Tony.

Why not send it to Dave at Toy Polloi. If he can't fix it, then it's really toast. Do the rubber suits on the Space Rangers have the same problem?

Simple Green and other similar cleaners need anywhere from 12-48 hours to work but I agree with others, as the rubber's turned into an adhesive you'd have better luck with Goo Gone, lighter fluid or similar- just give a thorough wash after as any of that stuff is flammable- I suspect Goo Gone has similar chemicals to plain lighter fluid, I mentioned this to Toy Polloi before as he can't readily find Goo Gone where he lives but he's having enough luck with lighter fluid. Goo Gone also has a very strong citrus smell which can seep into anything soaking in it.

Use rubbing alcohol in the future it will work and not harm the figure also and salt it helps with removing tough marks

Plastic outgassing is a terrible problem. I've always hated the effect on some packaging and clothing. Cots. is a great site. I don't know if they have Action Man or not but check out Patches of Pride. Some incredible 1:6 customizing accesories.

I was about to start Saving for an anniversary edition outfit out of box and in good condition not deteriorated... now to save up and go to Cotswold for a complete outfit a but pricy but not as expensive as replacing the suit every time

Hey Tony, we had the same problem with the GI Joe 30th anniversary Action Sailor. No matter how you store them the scuba suit starts to flake and break apart. A trick my parents use to remove adhesive and sticker residue is WD40. A quick spray loosens tacky rubber and should salvage the figure. Give it a try.

I'm certainly interested in these so thanks for bringing them to our attention. I recently purchased the 50th anniversary frogman to replace the wet suit on my Underwater Assault set, after selling the figure and accessories it only came to £10 so i'll stick with it for now and just keep an eye on it, i have very low humidity and temperature where my toys are kept so it should last for a while although if its a chemical reaction between the plastic & rubber it will happen what ever. P.S. thanks for the tip on not boiling Action Man hands ;-)

Another great video Tony! It's amazing isn't it? Along with Smith Lord creations, whether purists like it or not, the fans / unofficial companies are making the very best stuff out there for the toy lines of our youths. As current toy companies focus on mere updates of old lines or new versions of old figures, these off the beaten track creators are making our toy lines quite literally breathe again. Long may this continue, as I buy more 'bootlegs', repros and customs than I do 'real' toys from the toy store. How do you feel Tony?

Nothing wrong with replacing a suit if you need to. Neoprene should last considerably. I don't believe Palitoy ever considered how long these brilliant toys were going to last for.

For anyone coming across this now removing rubber from plastic, my first thought was wd40 as someone else mentioned in the comments earlier my next thought was to stick it in the freezer but remove the rubber bits (hands ) first.

Try submerging the figure in lubricant or Armor All. Try Vaseline or better yet that lubricant auto mechanics use to get grease off their hands.

I like the look of those Cotswold suits, may try one of the yellow and black ones on an Underwater Assault. Did you try the GI Joe 40th wetsuits Tony? I have a couple and the rubber is much thicker than the AM 40TH, no signs of them perishing, (yet!). The thickness of the suit restricts the poses but they look decent on display. Good to know the Z whip turned up safe by the way

Great look at the Frogmen! But shouldn't they have been flagged as part of the Special Boat Squadron instead of 22 SAS? The SBS was founded by Gen. Sir Roger Courtney for mounting water borne raids on Nazi coastal bases in WWII. Love the Black SAS figure - really looks the image of the Frogman.

Probably should have tried lighter fluid. But those neoprene suits look nice. They should try finding a way to make the zipper unhook from the bottom though, but nice still. Nice video about them overall.

Just a suggestion you should have asked Toypolii first. Where I work we use surgical tape remover. Your bound to find online. As I type this you could have tried lighter fluid too Daves goto choice.

Try 3 in 1 silicone lubricant. I use it on my first and second edition frogmen and they are in very good condition. It doesn't work if the suits are already cracked however.

out of interest has anyone ever tried spraying these outfits regularly with Silicon spray lube. the kind that u spray car door seals and plastic window rubber seals with that make the rubber pliable again? its not going to raise the dead but it "might" prolong the life and is plastic safe AFAIK
