Do blackberry bushes inhibit the growth of mushrooms? We haven't found any chanterelles yet but have found lung oysters a number of times. Thanks.

Habitats that support a lot of blackberry growth typically get too much sunlight for mushrooms to grow well. We definitely have areas that are covered in Himalayan and native blackberry but neither of them are good mushroom picking habitats. Glad you're here in mushroom wonderland! 🤙🤙🍄

There definitely is, there is someone who walks these trails often and is always making the leaf faces. There are so many of them that honestly I don't even really notice them anymore, and they start to resemble litter to me. Kind of like when someone upturns all the mushrooms they see next to the trail. It starts to look trashy and I prefer to have nature look a little more..umm..well..natural. Haha.

does someone make a field ruler that has a color calibration strip printed onto it? I used to print one on an index card to carry around for photography. I could use the full backside of the card as a fill-light reflector, and use the side with the color calibration to set my white point, alter the color balance to simulate gel filter effects, or show scale. also I could put it someplace in the scene intended to be cropped out to give myself something to adjust color by during editing. the problem with using an index card is that it's not pure white, which meant (using inkjet) that the color patches weren't accurate either, but it was pretty close. for scientific purposes though you'd want it as close as possible

It has been tried in countless experiments around the world and over the past several decades and with very little success. The relationship is still quite a mystery. Even if you successfully inoculated the tree roots with a fungi and waited long enough for the tree and mycelium to become mature, there is still no guarantee you'll get fruiting bodies!

It is not typically grown in my area however I am in a very unique area that mimics the northwest rainforest. I am located in Rabun County Georgia and then our specific place it is said to be the second highest rainfall area in the United States second only to the area that you are in in the northwest. Is it possible this could be a wavy caps?
