Good video. I grew up in the 1960s, my family went to Yosemite every summer, starting when I was 5 years old up until my senior year in high school. We always camped at Lower Pines and at that time, all you had to do was go up to the little Ranger booth in the campground and request which campsite you wanted, we got the same one every year. Never had to reserve in advance, it was that easy. I remember going to see the Firefall every evening and on our way back to camp would hear people yelling Elmer. We went down the Merced River in rafts and took the Shuttle bus back up and went down the river again. Great memories. Love Yosemite.

This video was super helpful for our 4th July'2022 trip to Yosemite Valley. We used this video as a guide to plan all our activities and did exactly as you guys did. No kids so no scooters and Biking related stuff. Your kids are awesome. Unfortunately Glacier Point was closed so had to skip that part. Being a holiday weekend the park was packed there were lot of people. It was joyous watching people enjoying BBQ and family time. There is a free bus with two loop routes - one takes about 1:30 mins to complete the loop and the other about 50 mins. They both stop at major attractions. Really appreciate you taking the time to create an awesome video packed with information.

I was a little overwhelmed and had a lot of questions, and you answered them and then some. @@allanbanezify We just went in July, we brought our own vests and rafts. The rafting season was already over so there was no rental and river water level was really low. We had to get out of raft to walk and pull the raft when we were in shallow area but some of us with inner tube didn't have to get up.

We recently got back from Yosemite ourselves. We were also bummed that BridalVeil Falls was closed and under construction. BUT the visitor center is open and it was incredibly kid friendly. It has multiple things for the kids to interact with and find interesting. If you ever go back I highly recommend it!

FYI: The history on “Elmer” dates back to the 1950’s when YNP did not have garbage dumpsters and there was a large area for the park “dump.” The dump drew bears to forage for food and people would walk to see them. One really large bear got named “Elmer” so calling “Elmer” into the campsite at dusk started a tradition that has lasted decades. Our family has camped there since the 1950’s.

Hi Chris! When the shuttle is running, logistics should be easier. But what we did is, when we got done, wife and kids took a snack break, started working on deflating all the rafts and packed everything up. Dad took a brisk walk back to the car parked near sentinel beach (there is a path next to the road and it was a beautiful hike back). It didn’t take too long to walk back because the river is windy. But the road is pretty straight. By the time dad drove back with the car, everything was cleaned up and the family was ready to go. It worked out great for us.

Hi. When we went there was no shuttle service. Now a days the shuttle is open and you can catch a ride that way. In our case, Rusty walked back to get our car while Carianne stayed to deflate tubes and the kids just played on the beach. It was not a super far walk back for Rusty.
