He definitely did the right thing, and is a hero. Like for real. Because if he hadn’t did what he did, it’s an absolute guarantee, a ton more would have perished. He literally sacrificed himself, so that others may live. He did what was right. I’m not just saying that, either. It’s the truth. His actions are what all peoples should be. To protect one another. & It’s amazing so many don’t understand that. Blessings to your family ❤️

I could...look this aint the movies...he doesn't even realize there's multiple shooters...maybe you think you're Neo in the Matrix and can't be shot but again these are armed suicidal psychos and ya dont even know where they are, how many attackers there is, what kind of weapons or body armor you're up against...in a situation like this it's perfectly reasonable to just GTFO...if you want to try to engage multiple shooters that you can't even identify w your pistol then you will more than likely just be added to the # of deaths...even the paid police are not goin in alone w no armor on and a pistol...this is incredibly brave but he also was instantly killed so I don't know how much help it was to the other customers (potential victims) but it certainly carried a very high price for him. Now in an elementary school or loved ones or obviously yourself ya have to accept your fate and do whatever ya can until you're successful or shot to death but it's not your obligation at all to run after a shooter.

Roger Powell sr. It’s quite pitiful and shameful of you to say that. It really shows how weak of a mind you have, and how selfish you are. I mean you’re talking about how rapidly the cops would get there? That’s a pretty foolish thing to say given that in a Walmart full of shoppers, just 30 people could be shot and killed in under a minute, before the cops would even show up. And you say it was a dumb move, but that’s completely false. It’s completely false because the only mistake he made was not assuming there was another person with a gun working with the person he was going to kill. And that doesn’t make his move a dumb move, I mean that could’ve happened to anybody. You really think most people would just assume that a lady very far away from a gunman not seeming to be causing any trouble at all is working together with that gunman? No, most people wouldn’t. This guy did something very brave, and very honorable, and unfortunately there are more cowards like you then warriors like him. I mean with your logic, you’re practically saying having a Military is a dumb move. It’s not just about Family and yourself. Human lives in general matter, not just the ones you know. Keep that in mind, and try not to say stupid things like what you said here anymore. Also, when someone is dead for trying to do something good, the least you could do is honor that, and not insult them for dying. It’s not like he was the bad guy here.

Mr Wilcox is a hero, I believe his actions did save the lives of my associates and customers that day. I knew the two officers personally as they were called regularly for shoplifting apprehensions. The video in it's entirety is very graphic especially the final shoot out with Las Vegas Metro in the automotive department. I will always be proud of my associates and supervisors who calmly helped customers escape through the emergency exits.

Its crazy reading these comments. I currently work in law enforcement, I am a CCW holder, I have a MA, and BA in Criminal Justice. There is so much training, understanding, and luck that takes place to properly control a situation. Some of you are talking about how you would die trying, seek out the shooter, take him out etc. With active shooters you dont know when its going to happen, you dont know who is going to be with you, you dont know where you will be located proximity too the shooter. I think Wilcox was very brave, but a little anxious and excited at the opportunity to stop the shooter. In any confrontation our heartbeat picks up, we get tunnel vision, and our adrenaline is going. That alone takes training, and experience to control. As you can see his killer was walking right in front of him calmly as her husband was shooting. But with so many responses in his body going on, his vision was tunneled and focused on one guy. I definitly understand why John preaches about 3rd party situations. Its so easy to type into a computer about what you would do, when most are not trained nor prepared. Sounding good on the internet is one thing, being in the thick of it is a entirely different story. John never says he made a bad choice but he has always stated be careful about 3rd party situations. This is just one of the reasons, but here are a few more. People may think you are the shooter, there maybe another CCW carrier in the building and get confused, Police will not know who you are, you are responsible for every bullet that leaves your firearm. I watch these videos myself as a training tool. THE 2 BIGGEST REMINDERS I GET FROM JOHN IS CONTINUOUSLY BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, AND THERE IS USUALLY A TRAILING ACCOMPLICE.

@@CamelSmokes23 Firing a warning shot at the ceiling while yelling "everyone get out!" is pretty clear to me. Also, an active shooter whose intention is mass casualties isn't going to walk to the back of the store. Wilcox was clearly a good Samaritan as stated here but he should have left the store like everyone else when he had the chance.

@@Makarov2918 this entire incident is well documented and the details are available. If someone enters a store yelling for everyone to "get out" and only fires a single warning shot at the ceiling it is pretty plainly obvious exactly what level of threat that is. The way the man casually walks to the back of the store and NOT rapidly firing at the fleeing shoppers shows that this was not an "active shooter" type incident. Mass shootings are always quick mag-dumps in rapid succession. A mass shooter wants many MANY victims. This dude walked past dozens of targets. Ozone but who is "they"? I mean do you think if US news organizations didn't associate Osama with 9/11 and various other illegal activities the taliban wouldn't exist? Or do you know of any organization or group that specifically sprung up only after Timothy McVeigh was named, the unabomber's identity was revealed, Charles mansion and his " family" were caught, etc.? Staking the possibility of some revolution on the inclusion or absence of a suspects name is a bit unrealistic when looking back on history. Sure, some people will sympathize and may even go on to proverbially carry the torch, but those people would exist regardless and their hate isn't a product of simply knowing someone's name, they're merely looking for justification to do what they'd more than likely still have done for some other reason. Honestly it'd probably be a better argument that naming a suspect leads to violence from people opposing their thoughts rather than getting people to follow in their footsteps. Even as someone with a criminal record myself I see a very real reason suspect information should be aired out and made public, and these dirtballs identities shouldn't be disassociated from their actions.

Trying to stop an active shooter is dangerous - really? Of course it's dangerous! And so is the guy popping off shots, murdering innocent people in the store - or trying to. He or she is dangerous too. Standing around and doing nothing is dangerous. Trying to flee out of an entrance without getting hit is dangerous. Trying to hide behind a flimsy coat rack or display case is dangerous. The whole friggin' scenario is dangerous at every level. So don't draw your firearm to confront the shooter - because it might be dangerous? Don't draw your firearm because you might be mistaken for the shooter which is - yep - dangerous? Meanwhile, people are dying or at severe risk of dying - which seems incredibly dangerous to me! Sorry, but your logic does not compute. Shooters are not typically ex-special forces. Not too many Green Berets, Navy Seals or SWAT members going around shooting up innocents in a store. Their just regular Joe's and Jane's with a gun and a few nuts loose. This isn't to say one shouldn't be aware of the circumstances - where's the shooter? - what's behind him? - how is he moving? What kind of target do you have? etc.. Gauge the situation for sure, but you''re already in a SHTF scenario. Danger has already come crashing upon you and everyone else there. I'll happily take the risk of a little more danger coming my way if there's an opportunity to take down the shooter. I can live with that - or even die with it. I'm not at all sure I could live with doing nothing when I could have done something.

I don't care if you were in the Army, Navy, or took CCW classes, no one is ever going to prepare you to handle a situation like this on your own. To all those people saying "How could he not notice, she wasn't panicking?" Do you know how fast this shit happens? You don't go anywhere in public expecting to encounter a mass shooter. This is not like the movies were the bad guys are easy to tell from the rest of the crowd. You are not The Transporter or Rambo.I doubt you have anyone ever point a gun at you or towards your direction, so zip it. I would rather help as many people get out instead of starting a shoot out in a crowded store because I might get some innocent person hurt or SWAT will come in and think I am one of the shooters.

Marcos Torres The only thing he missed was her being the only one still casually prancing around, though I challenge anyone to notice in a life and death situation. Very few can and I doubt any boasters in here belong in that demography. The vast majority of servicemen (although somewhat trained to) aren't accustomed to operating individually, and are likely to make the same mistake this man did, considering Servicemen are trained to filter out civilians from combatants and it was not initially evident she was armed. All the people in here blowing hot air best save it, so they can inflate their girlfriends once they're done talking out of their asses and living in lalaland.

Team Button ya.. I'm not sure what I would do in that situation, if I'm in the direct threat area then the choice is clear, going to intervene is a gray area I think as far as the law is concerned in some states, if you do something like that you need to be at the top of your game, awareness, accuracy, going the route he took can potentially get you killed or in prison if you do it correctly.
