I've watched this music video five or six times since the initial reaction and I am really falling in love with this song. The visuals, too, are really quite well done, and the explanation video revealed an amazing depth that I hadn't grasped. Next, I'll be diving into behind-the-scenes, as requested, and mixing in dance rehearsals and live performances as I go. I don't want to see any live performances of any songs I don't know yet, though, so please reply to this with live performances that only feature songs I've reacted to ("Dynamite," "Fake Love," "On," "Blood, Sweat and Tears," "Save Me," and "Spring Day"). To those that encouraged me to start a Patreon - thank you. I think I've got it set up. Open to feedback, of course. I'm figuring that out as I go, much like this KZbin thing! Please and blessings! Thank you for watching and sharing the music you love with me!

Ahhhh they've got so many good live performances for these songs but I'll try to leave it at one or two per song. Here you go (LONG COMMENT AHEAD, I hope it's not a bother): *>>* for "Dynamite": the performance @ Grammy Museum (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3fIpmZjbLd3sKM) and the one @ America's Got Talent (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2mUkpdrgtWZh5I) *>>* for "Fake Love": the one @ MAMA 2018 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKeboWZ8g6pshck). Some side notes about this... don't get scared when you see the length of the video lol there's an intro and one more song (because that's how live performances work in music awards shows there), Fake Love takes the first 10 minutes. This performance has a dance practice video in their channel (bangtantv) and also a "BTS focus cam" version if you want to get a closer look at the choreography on stage. The version of the song they used for this is "FAKE LOVE (Rocking Vibe Mix)". Another great live stage for this was at the MMA 2018 *>>* for "On": you CAN'T miss the performance @ Grand Central Terminal for The Tonight Show!! (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4vLXqpoo96mq6s). They've got a BTS episode for this day on their channel as well. And here's another one from a music tv show from South Korea: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXexe4d3lqaMpLc, their voices are clearer here *>>* for "Blood, Sweat and Tears": live @ the MMA 2016 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWi8kqVpa9Odq5o). Again, there's a second song here so stop watching after BS&T is done *>>* for "Save Me": Comeback Special @ Inkigayo 20160515 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4qkZJ6JhtOgopY) *>>* for "Spring Day*": @ MMA 2017 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKK3e6uJo5qfqtU) and @ iHeart Radio (kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2qcfGpon6uWnZI). You must've noticed J-Hope doesn't have a rap verse in this song, he actually sings the background vocals in the chorus, so for the live performances they rearranged it in order for him to take the opening verse and the chorus. Yes, he can dance, rap AND sing [sobs] Sorry for such a long comment. I'm definitely looking forward to your video for tomorrow! I like how insightful your reactions are, you even catch on things I haven't, despite all the years I've been a fan lol. And you always make interesting comments! Thanks for taking your time to learn about them and everything. I wish you the best on your projects as well. But now I'll shut up before this gets even longer, hope you enjoy the live stages!

Looking forward to it! This is my another favorite song of BTS. I was living in south korea between 2013 and 2015, for the national service of 21 months, and I still remember the day when it happened. I was having breakfast with my colleagues at the mess hall and first I thought they've put a movie channel on tv(kinda weird early in the morning) so i wasn't really paying attention. Soon I sensed somehow a different atmosphere and looking at the tv again I realized it was live broadcasting(on every channel). I also remember the particular moment when I saw the famous fake news "every students rescued" during the live, and we were all confused. It was so unreal, happened without any warning. For me, the explanation video you saw didn't covered enough some points... First, the MV has way more specific details to the incident(like the clock's time in the laundry scene, color of oxidized carrousel and all context of 'you never walk alone' campaign etc...) rather than a rather generic 'young generation standing up for justice against grown ups' discours. Another explanation video(from italan army I believe) covers very well these details if anyone's interested. And the reason why I'm convinced that the MV specifically refers to this tragedy, is that it wasn't just an isolate event. It is an iconic incident which was literally the trigger to massive movements against the government up to the impeachment and imprisonment of the president 3 years later. The ex-president wasn't unanimously trusted from the very beginning of her presidency anyway(being the daughter of the former dictator of the country in the past). One thing discovered during the investigation which frustrated me the most is the existence of the blacklist of creators&artists who expressed or illustrated any opinion which didn't suit to their political discours. Director Bong and Snowpiercer's main actors were in the list as well and these had to suffer from being practically excluded from the media industry during the whole period. So there was a very severe form of political censorship in media and I still can't believe it happened in a democratic country of 21st century. This emphasizes the subtleness of this MV about references about the Sewol incident. Crazy thing is, even now at the end of 2020, there are still people in the former president's political party claiming the whole movement as a purely political agenda, still downplaying victim's family's pain. The "grown ups" telling to survivors to forget and cheer up in the interview is not some random adults but very precisely these people. Of course, it wasn't for cheering up but to cover everything wrong behind it. "let's forget it and move forward" was slogan broadly used in that party. I wanted to explain how this tragedy has a big meaning for south koreans. The movement and massive protests kickstarted by this has marked a page in the history of the country. And the announcement of the impeachment was such a dramatic moment, just like a movie ending. If you're curious, here is a video of people how they reacted at the moment they heard "We announce the decision as the unanimous opinion of all judges. We dismiss the defendant president Park": kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJDcan94ZZqje80

MV and lyrics definitely can have a lot of ways of interpretation. RM noted that this song is for ones who need comfort but i think director of MV had that idea in mind to commemorate this tragedy, and it's quite a hidden message to those who is not familiar with what happened, because talking openly about the tragedy and all mistakes made by government was a rick to get blacklisted by people in power. The government did not allow anybody to reveal anything about the case because of the corruption. It was hard for people even to send charity to the victims' family or even speak about it, because they will get punished by the government. So the message of MV is structured on symbols and references to films and literature. Though BTS & Bighit secretly made a donation (it was discovered lately): 100 million won to support families. At some point money were needed to start the searches for child remain bodies because the government rejected to lift up the ship. Only two years later the government finally lifted up the ship after the president get impeachment cause of her corruption. Helping people was always the most important thing to the boys and they keep it true to themselves

A lot of people will insist that the Sewol incident was the inspiration for this song. RM has repeatedly said (as recently as last week) that he and Suga wrote the lyrics about personal friendships they lost when they moved to Seoul. He has also acknowledged that it struck a chord with the nation in regard to the tragedy, and he is glad the song has been interpreted this way, and brought people comfort. The music video is a separate piece of art, and I think it definitely addresses the tragedy. BTW Theory 2 is all about suicide. And fun fact! V wrote and submitted lyrics for this song too, but PDogg chose the ones RM wrote.

As an ARMY of only 3 years myself, I often have to seek out other resources (such as xCeleste's or DKDKTV's theory/explanation videos) to fully grasp the depth of BTS' lyrics and cinematography. As you know, art is subjective and we each take away what we need from it. Along with this message of remembrance, "Spring Day" has become a precious connection point between BTS and ARMYs expressing how much we love and miss each other, especially in these unprecedented times. BTS has performed it many times in the past year as a specific message to ARMYs. We hold each other in our hearts and memories until we can be together again 💜

To me it looked like the rescuers hopelessly looking at the victims through the unbreakable window and couldn't get to them. Following are some of the things I had interpreted that were not mentioned in the video - just my interpretation... * Tumbling clothes in washers : the drowning passengers in the sinking ship being tossed around * Light shun on Suga: rescue light finding Suga amongst the victims * The constant tilting of camera : the sinking ship

This was such a good reaction. As are your others. I notice you take time & notice a lot of details that you even add on in your comments during editing - that shows so much effort & care. Both Namjoon (RM) & Yoongi (SUGA) have mentioned that the song is also about their past experiences but the Sewol ferry tragedy reference has always been apparent & the main theory among ARMY (since many artists were being blacklisted for talking about it BTS were brave to use it. They also made personal donations to the families). They had never officially acknowledged the reference before though. But finally yesterday during their Esquire interview (A MUST READ by the way) they did. I think you may want to watch the Italian ARMY explanation video in your own time to get a much more detailed explanation- but fair warning, be prepared- I have never watched it without crying. I live in Korea, and I saw and heard the accident about the Sewol ferry. An incompetent and corrupt government that did not save young children was eventually impeached by the people. Those involved with Ferry Sewol are still on trial in a South Korean court. BTS's Spring Day is an album released when the incompetent and corrupt government was in power(Ferry Sewol It was released on the same date in the third year of the incident). I was glad to hear that you had a good inspiration from this song. I'm sure you'll making a good movie. I often watch your BTS's MV reactions, and I thought your senses were very good. I didn't know the shoes had a different meaning, I live in Toronto and in Canada shoes hung on wire poles or trees always symbolized a spot where someone died. The clips are hard to watch of the tragedy. You can see from areal shots the ship sinking was surrounded by boats to help but they didn't do anything while the students were screaming for help. It breaks my heart how some parents were on those boats but the coast guards wouldn't save them. BTS almost got blacklisted by their own government. If any celebrity was caught helping the victim's families or speaking out against them the government took action against them. BTS had no choice but to use symbolism in their MV to get their message across and they've done it beautifully believing ARMY would receive their message. Spring Day is the queen of south korea music, she never left the charts since 2017 and she will remain there years later since the song comforted many people in the nation.

The song was written by RM who wrote most of the chorus and came up with the idea and suga. They both were writing about friendships that they missed. I think that Suga's song on his mixtape about his good friend who got into drugs and went away to prison and even now out of prison is still a drug addict. In it you realize how much he loved this friend and how the two of them did music together and planned on conquering the world of music together but then this friend got wrapped up in addiction. This stole his friend from him and he missed him but it was also very angry at him. RM speaks more about his friends from school and a different life that he lived that were so precious at the time but now five choices have separated them and make it so difficult for them to reconnect.

They actually confirmed that the mv was about the accident in a recent interview. (While the song itself is about missing loved ones) There's a lot of political sides to it (the best informing anyone can do is not only those videos but also articles and surviver/docu videos) , it came up in 2017 again bc information was published that connected the corrupt parts of the government to it in a way that it could have possibly been prevented. This video is the shortest and most watched but it misses the side of what was actually happening with the accident and in politics, which is why i would love it if you watched this one (link in replies) it's in italian but has english subtitles. I find this to be the better one, the one you watched only scratches the surface in comparison in my opinion. Also on a side note tons of artist anf public figures got blacklisted for speaking about this by the corrupt president that got impeached later, so doing something like this was a good way, but also very risky. So for everyone effected by the Sewol tragedy its a very powerful song, and for everyone else it can be song about loss and hope. It’s about loss in general. They felt the country was in need of healing and made that song. Just like they did Dynamite to lift our mood during these times and then the album BE with Life Goes On to help us all heal. It’s what they do. They see something happening and get together to think what can they do to help? Wether it’s social injustice, or growing up, or loss, or mental health. I started to cry at the end of the MV and you talking about mental health, and then comes the commentary with stormtroopers and I laughed out loud. Thank you for that. I love the humour in the commentary.

There is another GREAT explanation video by an Italian Army fan - she did an exceptional job at diving even deeper. I was very impressed. Yes, you are correct that the washing machine (or dryer) windows are reminiscent of portholes. In addition, when Jin looks at the empty dryer, he sees that there are no clothes in there, meaning, no survivors (I'm thinking). And the coins being put in the machine represent the greed that precipitated the continued ignoring of saving the passengers. There is SO MUCH symbolism and SO beautifully done. It breaks my heart in a million pieces every. single. time. I can't imagine what those kids and their families went through when it was so avoidable. GAWD.

You are the first person to reference "Carousel." And to reference "You'll Never Walk Alone," from that movie. Which I believe was the influence for their song. Now you said it was your grandmother's favorite song. That tells me you are at least 20 years younger than me. You see it's my mothers favorite song. And God's knows I can't hear it without bursting into tears. You see many years ago, a actor/comedian named Jerry Lewis (I very sure u know who that is.) He did a telethon every year on Labor Day for Muscular Dystrophy. The point is at the end of the telethon he would sing that song for, who they called "Jerry's Kids". And when I see that, that is what I hear in my head. What you should do is watch the explanation of the video to see how close you got....you are very good.

I'd love to hear your perspective on Life Goes On since the director is one of themembers (Jungkook). He did not study the career butloves to film and edit 3-5 min. videos, kinda like vlogs but with music. He made a few called G.C.F (Golden Closet Film, since he did them in his room which was actually a closet). I would like to see if you think that lack of director career makes Life Goes On have a different and unique touch!
@sakshinarvekar66974 жыл бұрын
I actually loved your interpretation and insight on this !! Especially how you noticed the carousel with You Never Walk Alone written on it is juxtaposed with Jungkook and Jimin standing alone in their location. And with the clothes pile scene where you theorized that they are sort of camouflaged in there and the clothes are like their past relationships. That was a quite unique take and I agree with it. This song is generally about loss of a loved one and looking forward to when better days come and we can lose a loved one in many ways - growing apart because of some fight, or distance or just losing contact with each other. This is why I love to see reaction and reviews. To see different interpretations of a song I love. I believe such unique takes enrich the song in question even more. And when someone in the creative field uses their technical knowledge to explain how certain colors / camera angles / directing / cinematography is used to tell the story, evoke certain emotions and convey the message - I fall in love with the song even more.

I liked your interpretation so much! I think the mv definitely has a lot of direct, specific references to the tragedy, but that doesn't mean you're wrong at all! The song itself, whether you know about the tragedy or not, still evokes the same feelings of, at least in my opinion, grief and sadness and loss and hope. Thank you for continuing to post these reactions, I look forward to them every time!

Your passionate and serious review is touching. This reminds me of the situation in Korea back then. I was shocked to the point where I lost my appetite and people were collectively depressed. Because the slow sinking of the ship was being broadcast live, and we couldn't do anything. We watched people die in front of us for days. We held the government accountable for the deaths of these children. It's because unfortunate accidents always happen, but the process of settling them was very disappointing. Through this song, "Spring Day," Bts gave the impression that they were serious young people who expressed their opinions about social phenomena.

Of course, we all know that this song seems to have specific significance, but BTS songs are so amazing because of how they can speak to everyone personally. Thank you for sharing yours. I love your comments on the angles. The Dutch angles especially reminded me of a ship that is listing from side to side as it's sinking. The color scheme info is awesome. They have a song on their new album called Blue and Grey written predominantly by V so when you pointed out the blue and grey color scheme with V I was reminded of that. Also, loved the Psych shout out.

just yesterday jin basically confirmed that this is partly about the Sewol tragedy (i think it's more the music video) and also about longing. this theory is supported by the fact that BTS quietly donated money to the families and also the choreography heavily implies boats and wave imagery (HIGHLY RECOMMEND you to watch the choreography maybe the dance practice! many people miss that this song has choreography and it's really beautiful choreo too and goes with the sewol ferry theory.

It was interesting to see how much you got from the video, you had more insights than most reactors I've seen. And thanks for the info about the "you never walk alone" song from Carousel. Thank you Cedric for another thoughtful and respectful reaction.I hope your recent endeavours are working out well.Although you're not planning on listening to BE yet,the album is mostly an anthem to Covid. The first track,Life Goes On is sad but comforting at the same time.Track three,Blue and Grey,is about depression.

Another great reaction. Love your explanations of the cinematic effects and that you immediately watched the explanation video as well. When reactors are good, it doesn't matter if the video is long - in fact, it's a bonus. Why not throw a dance practice in for good measure? :D (sorry, I know you must also have a life ;) ) Don't deprive yourself of the pleasure of discovering BE and joining ARMY in that wonderful ride. Our BangTanSeven made this album because of Covid , so I guess you could say it has a storyline of it's own. Of course there are details you might not recognize (like RM watering the tiny tree he took with him In The Soop), but I have no doubt you'll be able to connect the dots. You're good at spotting those! ;)

"Omelas" is actually the first six letters of "Salem, Oregon" read backwards. LeGuin was driving through Salem, stopped for gas, and saw the partial reflection of a sign reflected in her rearview mirror. She liked the sound of it, and later used it in the short story referred to in the MV. It is oddly reminiscent of the name of Yoongi's "second self", Agust D. That is "DT Suga" backwards, DT being his birthplace, Daegu Town. A coincidence? Probably. But with BTS you never really know ... ###

actually in the US shoes are also hung on power lines to commemorate the dead too. oftentimes friends of youth who are killed due to gang violence would commemorate the dead this way, so unfortunately some people started taking it as a warning of gang activity (which is where many ppl start thinking of it meaning there's drug dealers) but really it's to commemorate the dead here too.

I loved your theory.. I think you reallygot the feeling of the song.. and thank you for all the messages about mental health 🥰 You know this song represents why they are so unique and good at what they do. They offered a shoulder to those who went to that tragedy, they somehow criticized the government and the society, they talked about losing people, what does that mean and they did it in a way so people can easily relate to and feel/know they are not alone... And even if you haven't been through this particular tragedy.. you can relate to it! A lot of people around the world didn't even know about this! I learned it because of them... It's really sad.. but beautiful at the same time.. this song it like "the Queen" of their songs.. if you are getting into their world, this song is a must go... I loved your reaction.. THANK YOU!
