Thank you for this session. Always learn a lot. On the issue of setting boundaries....I appreciate your candor on this subject. I have had to make some tough decisions on the matter, and said no to a few projects. While I did not relish saying no to opportunities, I couldn't shake the negative feeling about going forward with the roles. In the end, I could sleep better once I said no and got rid of the anxiety associated with the language/content of the role.

It’s never easy to say no, but a clear conscience is so worth it.

Hey Y'all. I am getting back in front of the camera. Recently had new headshots and not sure they represent my range. Based on my agents advice and guidance they selected the shots the liked the most.

Headshots are a broad topic. It's extremely common to wonder if the ones you took really do represent you. The photographer did their best, tried to loosen you up, or inspire you, but it feels weird, honestly. Until you do some work on your own humanity/authenticity/archetype, you won't be able to truly be objective when you look at your shots. This is just one of the reasons we endlessly share the good news of the Sam Christensen Image Process. After a rigorous 4-day deep dive into how you're seen by the industry (and learning how to actually be EXCITED about that), you'll approach headshots with a newfound confidence. In fact, you won't find yourself needing your agent's advice nearly as much in deciding which shots represent your range the best.

As a Christian believer, I have many times changed words in scripts, knowing that it will likely torpedo my chances with the project, BUT knowing that it is something I must do if I am to be in it. I don’t make notes any more. I figure they can see way I said “cotton-pickin’” (or some such) verses F-in’. The interesting part is realizing what I AM willing to say, i.e., thinking it is okay to say most four-letter words, but not some other words. For instance, just yesterday, willing to say one word describing a woman’s breasts but not another; it’s kinds weird to realize that of myself and what I understand of my boundaries. Then, knowing whether the entire project is suitable for me is a whole other judgement. What or Who guides one’s decisions? Great topic! Thanks for touching on it.

Yeah, it’s such a minefield for actors of faith. We want to be considered for parts, but at what cost? Sometimes I put on the hat of “would I care if my mother saw me in this role? What about my grandmother? What about my pastor?” Sometimes thinking from their perspectives helps me to not compromise my boundaries. Thanks for the comment!

Neal McDonough is the actor doesn't do the scenes you were talking about with other women... He said if he kills someone in a movie it is make believe, you get up dust off the dirt, shake hands and go on but if you kiss someone in a movie that is real because you really kissed her and you cant take that back and.... he wont do that to his wife....
