There is far more responsibility to a bad move than co-stars. This might even start with something simple like a decent script and chemistry in casting. Here's how to launch a movie: Julia Roberts and George Clooney; Deadpool and Wolverine; Florence Pugh and Harry Styles..

I believe he was often cast not because he was right for the role but because the studios wanted a big name in there. He had a lot of hit films in the early to mid 80s but by 1990 the hits were few and far between but he still thought he was a major A lister. I gather he's well aware now of what people thought of him and makes fun of himself about it but obviously his ego ran riot for a long time.

Interesting that 'diva behaviour' is responsible for a lot of this. Substance abuse as well seems to play its part (as we now know about Nick Nolte). Some of these actors have had reputations for not being team players anyway (Mickey Rourke for one) and whilst Val Kilmer also is on that list, Tom Cruise showed loyalty to the man by insisting the now very ill Kilmer be cast in Top Gun: Maverick. Admittedly some of it came from their younger hellraising days and most of them grow out of it, but not always. Marlon Brando had been known as a problem actor since the 1960s. Interestingly Mickey Rourke was dropped from The Expendables franchise after the first film, apparently for thinking he was a bigger star than he was. At least i respect stars like Snipes for admitting, even if it was years later, that they were not easy to work with (and Stallone was quick to cast him in the Expendables franchise after his prison term, ironically after dropping Rourke who annoyed Stallone with his behaviour and demands).

I was waiting for Val Kilmer to be mentioned. It took two directors to finish The Island of Dr. Moreau, and the first director despised Vall Kilmer so much that after he was fired, instead of flying home, he actually hung around the area it was filming in until the wrap party, where he went up to Val Kilmer to tell him what a huge asshole he was. I'm serous. He lived in the hellhole it was filming in just so he could tell Val Kilmer off. The second director had security walk Val Kilmer off the set after his last line was spoken. That's how hated Val Kilmer was by these directors. It's no wonder that he disappeared after a time.

Maybe you should think about the blame being put on the writing and/or the story. You can't make money at the box office if the movie going public doesn't find the story interesting. Also, if actors are acting like spoiled brats, it's because the studios let them get away with it. Fire their spoiled ass and then black-ball them for a few years. You can't act that way in real life, on a real job. If they can't get along with the rest of the cast and crew; can't show up prepared and on time to work, show them the door.

And imagine if he already had to put back on the suit to refilm something. It's not unreasonable for someone in that situation to want it to get it right on day one. No one wants to spend 4 to 12 hours in a make up just to shoot a scene that they already shot. The chocolate part, not even concerning. Sounds like she was an actual problem on set. Because they would have told her all that, if she had asked. So maybe she thought they were just covering for the star's diva behavior, because she was already convinced of it. @@myswanktrendz I had to resort to the subject that could best fulfill one of my favorite pastimes: ragging on one David S. Goyer. Clearly, I am not a huge fan of the guy’s work, and have talked about my disdain for his writing quite liberally. It’s not that he’s the worst writer in the world - he isn’t. But he isn’t particularly good either, which makes it irritating to see him given the keys to the kingdom to so many big properties. Batman AND Superman AND Green Lantern AND Blade AND Terminator AND Ghost Rider AND Sandman AND Jumper. Jumper, of all properties! Clearly Hollywood loves the guy, and even after the one-two punch of Man of Steel/Batman v Superman, is more than eager to give him work. But, at the very least, at least most of that work was in the realm of screenwriting, where another co-writer and/or skilled director can take his rough scripts and make them better (see: Batman Begins and Blade II.) But Goyer, the mega-successful screenwriter he is, has dabbled in directing before. His time in that field was far less successful, however, with works like Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, and Unborn proving to be critical and commercial flops. Collectively, the trio has an average Rotten Tomatoes score of 18%, which goes to show how shoddy his directorial efforts have been. Matthew Legarreta.. Popped Culture... By the way without concrete evidence it's not cool to point the finger of blame at the person suffering from mental illness just because some people believe they are the most obvious choice so it has to be their fault, further stigmatizing people that are mentally ill and deterring them from asking for help... Everybody talk about Kevin Spacey 👍 but hé has not found guilty by a judge only by other people. Its easy to say something but it does not not say that its true and that's up on a judge but Kevin Spacey is now in people eyes a bad guy. Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors and its easy to blaim him because of the me too movement is everybody that other people say hé rape me are the victim but when they have done nothing like that its hard to come back in the Good of people. Let the law and the judge say it and not use that know if something is true or not. Greetings from the Netherlands

I really miss his movies. It’s a shame that he lost his career. He made a poor choice, and has paid for it. So sad😣😢

- I actually thought the script was ok but they definitely had zero chemistry. I'm sure that Nick Nolte couldn't believe that they had cast Julia Roberts for the lead - she wasn't that well known as an actress at the time.

All of the movies now suck. Ridiculous Special Effects, Stupid scripts, BAD BACKGROUND MUSIC that is so loud you cannot hear the dialogue etc. Then Stupid political messages in the films. They don't make them to entertain. I really cannot discern what they are trying to do. I get sick of them and usually Bail Out before the thing is over.
