The Wandering Aristotle We are fighting already, it's the result of our fight which actually made laws like 498a toothless. Previously men and their whole family including inlaws and parents and siblings, even small kids we're arrested, just based on a complaint by women. Now courts ordered police to do proper investigation before even arresting whole family of men. But we need to spread more awareness and Mens rights movement don't get any funds as compared to feminists who get a lot of funds through foreign aid. Men's right groups in India are self driven and all the funding need to be generated from within. Still even without any funding, men and with support of family women who support and understand men's problems in India Indian men's rights movement had good progress. Political parties started noticing the increasing number of families joining men's rights movement.

"...because, normally, you associate a sexual crime with shame." Absolutely there's shame, but how is it that so many people just automatically shoulder the victim with the burden of that shame rather than put it on the actual perpetrator? In many cultures, even if a man *is* found guilty of rape (a feat in and of itself in most parts of the world), he'll still be considered marriageable whereas the female will be considered sullied & less than. It's loooong past time that we all, across the globe, refuse to perpetuate such a warped thought process & force the rapist to be saddled with the shame that they, themselves, brought forth!

Yes, great point. Having someone with you should be an option, within industry standards that need to be created. Meetings should be in offices not hotel rooms etc. The industry needs to do more to regulate this, and anyone who is not willing to do this should be complained about and a means to complain should be created, outside the control of the perpetrator. Also more women need to be in positions of power - too many boys clubs are operating.

You often do not have a choice - you will be labelled "difficult" if you don't comply. Listen to all the actresses who met with Weinstein! Very often, the female assistants and casting agents will ensure you that it's all fine, all normal, all harmless. It's all these complicit people around the abuser who help make these clandestine meetings happen. If a group of professional women would tell me it's fine, I would totally trust them and meet with the man alone.
@madisonbear51656 жыл бұрын
As an actress, I can say that people in the industry find it unprofessional to have someone with you in the audition room. It’s really scary sometimes what us girls experience in the audition room. Once a producer was flirting with me and I was really scared that I didn’t want to tell anyone because I feared I would get fired. Luckily, nothing happened. But he still told me stuff like “you look hot!” And I didn’t feel comfortable with a GROWN man telling me that. Btw I’m 15 and I was 13 at the time. Even being raised outside Kerala, the sense of disapproval and objectification you feel as soon as you set foot in the state is palpable, and... Listen, I LOVE Kerala. I love learning about Ayurveda and I practice it in my every waking moment. I do yoga. My grandmother's father was an Ayurvedic doctor, and I share a room with her. She still tells me bout the shlokas she learnt as a child. It's Kerala who has no love for me, or any woman. Dileep's films are still being aired, and the misogyny in them is so obvious and disgusting. It really is as blatant as showing the uppity, foreign born NRI girl being beaten... for COMEDIC effect. I almost threw up, and my grandmother didn't even bat a lash. That an actor standing trial can still have such flat out sociopathic content out AND MAKE MONEY OFF IT WHILE IMPRISONED FOR ORCHESTRATING THE GAND RAPE OF AN ACTRESS... After derailing the 'job' portion of the interview to speak about my personal life he put his hands on my shoulder and thigh caressing me. I feel sick to my stomach even recalling it. After running out of there and calling my family crying they encouraged me to file for sexual harassment. I filed a police report and the detective told me they couldn't do anything because he didn't touch me on my 'private areas'. He then proceeded to tell me that I wasn't the first, or even second, woman to report. This bastard knew exactly what to do and what not to do to keep himself above the law. The burden is always on women to NOT become victims, as if men are just naturally born sexual predators that can't be expected to control their speech or behavior. These are fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, cousins, classmates, neighbors, employees, teammates, they're politicians and even heads of state...walking around having their self-entitled attitudes going unchecked by OTHER men, because they don't want to break "bro code" or some such nonsense.

Bollywood culture encourages sexual harassment. It might help if Bollywood made other than Love/Erotic Dance/Romance/Sexual Innuendo movies... The people in society are continuously provoked by all this flirtation and stimulating imagery in film and music but then restricted in their social/cultural/religious tradition... So the result is frustration of instincts along with seeing women only in sexual terms. If the culture paid more attention to more important matters then the results might be different...but clearly rape needs the most severe of punishments in order to deter it.

Ajay devgan & actors from the south are quite ugly & dark too. But they still earned plenty of crores because of their talents. Bollywood is not all about good looks or fair complexion. If it was all about good looks, Riya Sen, Diya Mirza, Yukta mookhey, Lara Dutta, Sushmita Sen, Sonali Bendri, Lisa Ray etc would all have been household names and "A" listers having had successful bollywood careers. Instead they had a flop bollywood career because they were not talented as actresses.

Her photographs were not taken by a professional photographer. She has very nice features she only needs to find a professional photographer to make her portfolio and to groom herself better. Change your look a bit to make yourself more accessible in terms of various types of roles.

the concept of rape is very different in india. Here, once a girl is raped, the society thinks the girl is slutty or bad etc. most villagers will blame the girl too. family face is very important too, families want to protect their face more than their daughters. Also, in india, Most women roles are supportive, most films revolves around the guys, so the actresses are more like objects of desire rather than having an important role. i really dont support these views, I havent watched a bollywood movie since 5th grade

SAFETY is a Very Legitimate concern for Women everywhere, and Unfortunately some places have a much more Higher risk regarding Womens Well-Being, and Safety, Therefore, Women should Not Be looked down upon or judged harshly, just because she may be concerned about potential safety risks. In this story these Women are just going home, these Women should Not Be Victimized while walking home to work or anywhere else. Women consistently have to be concerned about their Safety and Well-being. Women should be able to go anywhere else without being worried about potential attacks, harassment, or being Victimized by rape and other barbaric behaviors. Men who behave like this don't respect Women or Life. There are animals who behave better. Using abuse, and force for sexual gratification, intimidation, by harmful behavior for sexual intimacy with someone doesn’t make a man, strong, tough, cool, or, manly. The desire for Sex should Not control someone to the point of harming someone, violently, and, or causing unnecessary suffering through attacks, forced sexual situations, forced abuse, torture, kidnapping, sexual assault, coercion, causing mental harm, causing physical, or emotional harm. Sex should not cause someone’s death or harm. Rape is barbaric.. Beating up a Woman doesn't make a man tough... Beating up a Woman doesn't make a man strong... 90% of the movies, tv shows and 99% of tv ads are using women as sex objects and sadly these actresses don't mind working like that. No one can force you to work in a movie against your will in a democratic country. Problem lies on both side. Secondly in south east Asia and specially in India, men are considered superior for religious and Cultural belief since 1000s of years. This is predominant in their history books, legends and even myths. Girls are treated as a badluck and burden, not given education, no property rights and even is not asked before marriage if she is ok with that guy or not. There is a deep rooted problem in their mentality and surroundings that needs to be fixed. The laws and arrests are just a veil of delusion, education is the key.

Hahaha amazing to see sooooo many men who've probably never ever been groped squished or touched are talking about rape! Guys go to Delhi and Haryana, well break the world record on the particular crime. Consider all reported and unreported cases. Yes one gets arrested immediately for rape, and as immediately as that are out on bail within hours! The cases that were made global, thankfully, India government didn't have a choice as the whole world was seeing how this crime is addressed! Get a life guys (those commenting negatively), what do you know about being raped and the permaneny psycholigical effects that last for a lifetime!?! Really impressed by the small percentage of men here commenting and for stronger actions and urging the government to address this crime in more ethical and sensitive ways possible. Hats off to you guys, your parents have done a wonderful job with your respective upbringings. These are the kind of compassionate and empathetic men we need in our society.
