When I was serving a mission… I was assigned on an island that we need to cross weekly for an hour and a half or 2 sailing to attend our District Meeting. Sometimes the seas were not friendly. We once traversed with tall waves that almost everyone got seasick! I almost threw up. What’s worse was the ferry needs to move slowly so it doesn’t go strongly against the tide. There’s nowhere to go. What fascinates me is when I read Paul’s experience when he was in a deep on a night and day with storms and strong winds… I realized that my experience was just a fraction of what Paul had… I can empathize.

Thank you, Bretheren. Thank you for the wonderful context and for explaining the Jewish mindsets in relation to their culture and customs during this time. It's given me a lot more insight, and I can see why they were so against Paul's teachings. Not that I agree with the opposition, of course. I see now they were holding onto what they knew and were familiar with. In a way, it wasn't a mindset that enabled them to be open to more teachings of the Lord or his servants. It was quite rigid and closed off. I think Paul's teaching were a big shift for them. I am so impressed with Paul, I just love learning about him. He is a shining example to me of how I would like to be. Thank you for the insight on Roman citizenship. It makes sense that it was a trump card, considering they were a superpower at the time. He was a very multi skilled, multi-faceted individual. You know, it's just amazing that the talents Paul had when he was Saul were the same talents x's 1000 that were used when he became Paul. I just love how he put his trust in the Lord up and above everything, and his foundation was truly built on the Lord. There were so many insights in this presentation I could go on. Thank you, SC, for the most amazing lesson. I have been spiritually fed today ❤️.

Around 20:00 Taylor and Tyler share an interesting commentary on how Paul pits the Saducees and Pharisees against one another by bringing up the Pharisaical view on resurrection. I'm reminded of a funny segment in Fiddler on the Roof where Tevye explains an immoral transaction of an old horse between two members of his community to the viewer. In the moment he is explaining what haf happened, all is calm until Tevye leans in and reminds the buyer that the horse he bought was older than the seller proclaimed and then all heck breaks loose as they rekindle their angst with one another. I wonder if it was Steins intention to showcase the easily provoked angst between the Pharisees and Saducees? What a great story!

11:45 there was indeed conversion, grafting and adoption in the ancient times. There were those who were born into it and those who were bought into it. Purchased with a price. This is mentioned for circumcision (Genesis17) and for passover observance (exodus 12)

The Lord knows the apostasy is going to result in the loss of His apostles and priesthood power and authority, and many plain and precious truths, but sends them to their deaths to seal their testimonies with their blood anyway. We will also die, and if their work was necessary how much more so is ours, for triumph and a fullness is promised to follow our labors, not apostasy. Never thought of that before.

I have a question about the trip Paul took to Rome when he was shipwrecked. Acts 27:4 says they left Sidon and sailed UNDER Cyprus then in Verse 7 it says they sailed UNDER Crete, but you drew on the board that they sailed OVER Cyprus and Under Crete. The map in the bible shows they went over Cyprus and under Crete. What is correct the verse 4 of Acts 27 or your map. Maybe I don't know what over and under mean in nautical terms. Please explain this to me.

@scripturecentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Winds are also described with the direction they blow. Easterly winds blow from the east, while westerly winds blow from the west.
