**BOLD TAKE INCOMING** Men and women should build solid platonic friendships regardless of sexual orientation or attraction. This not being a norm is 120% of the problem where it comes to communication and understanding
@lhays1172 ай бұрын
The majority of my friends are women and most of them are straight or at least bi. In fact, only one of them is a lesbian. Despite that I myself am a straight man, I’m still able to be genuine friends with them without it being weird. It baffles me how there can be people out there who are only friends with their own gender exclusively.

My partner and I aren't married, but we've been together for going on 20 years. He's my best friend. We don't spend every waking moment together, but he's the one I want to talk to when something exciting is happening, and he's the one I go to for comfort when I need it. He feels the same about me. Does this guy even like his wife?

I've been single my entire life, so maybe I can't speak on this sort of thing, but - I don't know, don't you want to LIKE someone you're in love with? Why in the world is it viewed as okay to be so emotionally detached from someone you're married to? Religion is so depressing, man.

I think I figured it out. When, you are privileged such as to be a straight white male, you see politics as a thing that doesn’t affect you. Then you extrapolate that perspective to everyone. It’s such a foreign concept to imagine political structures being against you. So when you see people complain about them, you probably think they should get over it, or worse, fall in line. Because being different is hurting you & that’s your choice to be hurt. Because every decision in their life isn’t colored by political systems that disadvantage you. It’s simple to tell an LGBTQ person to be straight, when they cannot. It’s simple to tell brown folks that we live in a meritocracy, when it isn’t. It’s easy to tell women to stay home and have babies as their biology commands them, when it doesn’t have to be. It’s easy to tell people to just feel secure. Even when their environment is insecure.

Jake's take on role models made me realize the reason why these ultra conservative creep types bring role models up so often, despite being the party of personal responsibility and bootstrap pulling is that its a cop-out to plant the idea that one needs to act a certain way because of how it affects others. Growing up I realized after watching game grumps and finding out that arin hanson hated ocarina of time made me finally realize that its ok to have unpopular opinions and hot takes and not watching reviews or reading comments to figure out how im supposed to feel about something. But that's all i respect him for. The more I learned about him the more I decided to not idolize him because I don't agree with everything he does/says. You can like some things about people and use that as a "role model" and disapprove of other things about people. Its not a black or white situation.

30:06 “Thats not what women want in a relationship” 41:13 “Women dont want to help their husbands, women dont want to be there to pick them up when theyre down and kiss their booboos” Any man that says women inherently dont want their bf/husband to ever open up or else she’ll “think he’s a pussy who cant protect her from armed robbers and wolves at night” tend to be the same guys who trauma dump relentlessly expecting her to have a step by step guide ready with all the steps to fix said problem overnight (sometimes even on the first date)

I mean, there is something to be said about how much more emotional baggage that straight men unfairly hoist on the women in their lives, but that is an entirely-separate conversation.

"This is probably the least manly trait that I can think of: that your emotional state is so fragile that it's dependent upon what other people are doing." Fantastic. Great to know he's totally okay with atheists, homosexuality, and trans people, and just wants them to be free to live their lives as they see fit.

This is insane wacky nonsense that a lot of Churches will do. It is totally wacky, I have been with the same guy for eighteen years. I have been with two more for ten years. So I have a poly relationship of four people total that is longer than the average marriage. My partner I live with is my freind who I never wanted to leave my house, this thought to me is wacky. I do not know if my parents are friends though, they are like this and I do not want it. They are strange emotional support and he is incompetent.

Thats positive masculinity, we need more of that, but he takes it so far its becoming negative again, curting his partner out of his.... emotional life ig? Like they could build way more intimacy if ge didnt do this. Balamce it out dont rely on 1 or the other exclusively
