Idk, I still love this movie very much and it's sort of become a Christmas tradition for me to watch it. Sure, some of the plotlines are problematic, but actually kind of adds to my enjoyment in a weird way. Cause it shows love or infatuation in the many different forms it can take on, and sometimes it can be absolutely fucked up. Just as Christmas can be absolutely horrible sometimes (at least with my family).

I'm binging their content rn because I just found them today, so that's why I'm commenting on a year old video 😅 But I feel like this movie might be presented as romantic and a "Christmas movie" only in the US? Because I feel like everyone watches it like a regular movie with a ton of separate stories with some of them being toxic, bad, some being cute, or just whatever.. and it HAPPENS to be Christmas while they're happening. It's not supposed to be a wholesome nice Chrismas movie. The only time I see it mentioned as Christmas-y is when I watch American reactors.

That^. It was sort of a "goodbye" kiss in which she acknowledged his feelings but gave him no hope for any kind of romance between them. Which, in turn, has helped him to finally move on, as we see in the epilogue. Some people just don't get the subtleties and it's simply sad.

I am German and if my husband would kiss my best friend on her lips while I am waiting for him upstairs, I would be majorly disappointed... Yes, I get that it was a good buy, thank you for living me, but No thanks kiss... But I wouldn't accept If my partner would do this... Do you think it's ok for a best friend to sneak to your partner, tell them to lie to you and then get kissed?! If I would ever fall in Love with a spouse of a close friend, I would keep my distance and would wish them luck as a happy couple instead of trying to stay near him...

I just watched this for the first time a few years ago, and was... underwhelmed. But I can see how it was well-liked in the early 2000s when people's toxicity meters were way lower. This is like older millennials'/gen x's Twilight I'm guessing. It's kind of gross and doesn't age well, but they're going to stick beside it. 😂
