Two things I want to say: 1) Yes this channel does inspire me. Zealand got me through covid and now I’ll be off to Peru to help teach children how to cook and walk up Machu Picchu. 2) This story is inspiring! I only knew about it at the end of Cook’s journey but damn he’s an inspiration and I want to run the London Marathon next year. So damn right I’m gonna do it!

Well done mate! It's awesome to be inspired by Cook! Good luck with the marathon. And good idea picking London particularly if you're trying to recreate the part where Cook got kidnapped by guys with machetes 😅

I followed his journey since it was announced. It's unbelievable that he was able to complete it with everything that went wrong. Also Fuck the World Running Org. Trying to put Russ down right at the end to protect a founder and friend

I love the belief nearly every man has that they could have been a professional athlete if only X or Y had gone differently. I have had the fortune to work with a number of athletes at both college and professional level over the course of my career and was, without tooting my own horn, quite a competitive athlete in my younger days. In the gentlest possible terms, very nearly every single one of these men is wrong. You may have been quite an athlete. There are levels. You might have been quite good at sports in school. Everyone in the second division of whatever sport was the best athlete their high school ever produced.

I thought Eddie Izzard doing 27 marathons in 27 days, then 32 marathons in 31 days (during lockdown on a treadmill in a COVID safe room) was impressive and would be hard to better. But, Hardest Geezer has gone and topped her feat.

The biggest limitation is money. It's always money. Money is the thing that limits all human potential. This guy probably spent over $100,000 doing this. Probably $60,000 of that in food.

Yeah, but how else could he try to prove it. It's the most efficient and cost effective way of verifying that he did the run. As you can see in his 100 fifteen minute videos he has posted, he didn't have a giant financial backing. Also ALOT of people have ran with him during his journey and none of them have voiced any concerns of him faking the run.

I often think about Göran Kropp when stuff feels hard and I want to quit. The guy cycled from Sweden, with all his gear, to Nepal. Carried all his gear to everest basecamp, never used a sherpa. He was to summit solo, without extra oxygen. He tried to summit, but had to abort 100m from the top. Down at camp he witnessed 13 people die in the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. But that didnt stop him, and he tried again and was successful in reaching the summit. Then he climbed down and cycled back to Sweden. Hardcore dude.

I dont even have over confidence but i know that instead of having one year of proper gk training between 6-18 if i were to have had a proper youth academy and a better motivation i could have atleast gotten to the highest amateur level in my country. But i mostly fucked up in the motivation part tho. Sad stuff to look back at since now its a bit too late at 27 only having played futsal the last couple of years

@@IAmThatBit-- he did a lot of his running in the day, there was a period where he ran at night exclusively for around 20 days, and a lot of days where he ran into the night to complete the day's mileage. Probably did at least half of this while the sun was shining, and it was 30+ degrees, or 85+ in fahrenheit.
