Perfect case for a 3D printed part replacement. Just need someone to model one and make the model available on any of the usual sites.

Bingo, bango!!! That's the real usage of 3D printers, making parts for things that are otherwise out of production or aren't produced at all as replacement parts.
@billywild54405 ай бұрын
@@williamjennings768 Also, molding and casting with plastic resin is within the budget and capability of most people. But do a search for 'custom made gears' and that might reveal a source for ready made parts. Obviously, Honda is using this gear in other applications, so maybe it isn't so unique ;)
@Patrick94GSR5 ай бұрын
@@williamjennings768 sometimes that works. But sometimes not. At least with PETG or PLA filaments, they don't always stand up to automotive use if it's a hot environment. I printed a phone mount once, and the heat just sitting in the hot car made the mount warp, even with PETG filament. ABS might work, but not all printers can do that type.
@hadesmcc3 ай бұрын
@@Patrick94GSR Indeed, different applications, require different materials.
@ch195929 күн бұрын
@@Patrick94GSR Not sure what caused your issue, but I have printed many successful parts out of PETG that have withstood the heat of the inside of a car for years without any deforming. I would love to try and design and print this part, but I don't have an Integra to model it from.

From somebody who's blind loves Hondas I always enjoyed the videos. It really helps me when I'm working on my own things. And heck what's what's a zip tie I mean if you don't know it's because you don't own a Honda lol. I keep them in the car all the time just in case. Most Hondas you'll a zip tie probably shouldn't be but it works lol. Very nice temporary fix

05-17 Honda Odysseys have an actuator that is like exactly the same as this one on the inside, used for unlatching the sliding doors from the open and closed positions. They don't usually develop this problem, but they do tend to a develop an issue where a pin inside that clutch assembly starts sticking. This causes an issue where the sliding doors attempt to open, the motor groans, and then it returns to the position it was in. It's easily fixed by spraying that clutch pin with some lubricant, freeing it up so it works easily again.

I was sad when the cable went away too. I believe the reason they switched was because in a side impact the hatch would fly open.

Hi Eric, what would the best way to grease, maintain and repair rust on the trunk hinges on a DC2 type R ? Mine has had the tailgate window replaced once, so maybe there is even a bigger rubber than oem, but those hinges are a pain to access: the trunk half open is the best acces i get. I can just see the left one has paint cracks with rust appearing. Many thanks and greetings from Europe, you’re the best !

Eric do u suggest changing the transmission filter (inline) on 03 accord (automatic) the honda dealer doesn't suggest it even though i have 250,000 miles and have never changed. My concern is it's starting to grind alittle while shifting and shifting is not always smooth. I have flushed the trans twice and changed fluid 3xs. I'm also concerned with the old saying if it isn't broken don't fix it, I'm alittle afraid if I replace it I might create more problems being the cars use to the wear

Zip-tie is a good idea but after superglue it and/or put some thin enough heated wires making the junction tight, and then you reinforce with superglue and adding the zip-tie superglued, let it dry for 2 days, and probably will never fail again. That part should be better designed

I think it might be discontinued, if not, I"m sure it's more expensive than a zip tie 😉. Since it's a common issue, I don't think a salvage part would be a good option.
