Hey y’all. Just completed spark plug change on my 2016 MDX. Hardest part was the clips. Easier to push up the rubber boot on the clip to gain access to the tab. Makes it so much easier. Also, no need to remove radiator cover. Best of luck!

Thank you for this. Just did the replacement on my 2014 MDX at 103k miles. The only problem I had were those darn clips. By the time, I got to the 4th one, my thumb was hurting bad pushing on them. Figured out I could use my 3/8" adapter as a wider spacer for my thumb to push down on top of the clip. And you need to hear the audible click. It was easier for me to unplug the socket before removing the 10mm screws. Butt dyno noticed no difference in performance. Absolutely no reason to do this before 100k miles. Original spark plugs looked fine in my now 10 year vehicle.

Did you have to remove cooling fan?
@john627410 ай бұрын
@@bugattiss4314 Yes, Just as the video showed, there wasn't enough access without removing it.
@rontan8954Ай бұрын
@@bugattiss4314 I did not have to remove the bracket for the fan, just have your son lightly pull the radiator outward and it just enough space to come out. You only need about 1/8 of an inch to remove the center coil.

you can push on the fan cover toward the front,that gives enough room to pull out coil. thanks for the video

Just figure this out today after trying to remove that 2 screws...top was not an issue, the bottom was a real pain and strip easily! Wish I would have read your message earlier...live and learn!

@@rontan8954 what does he mean push the fan cover toward the front? i tried moving the metal plate, but its screwed in. How do I move it out of the way to remove the cylinder 5 spark plug? Edit: oh I get it, it doesnt actually move the metal plate out of the way, it just moves like 1mm forward to get the coil out.

Thank you for making this great Video! I have a 2017 Acura MDX with ZF transmission with 74K miles. I'm thinking of replacing the spark plugs at around 100K miles. How many miles did the 2016 MDX had when you replaced them?
@isaacrepairseverything11 ай бұрын
This one had maybe 75k. I'm sure this job could have been done at 100k, but my friend wanted to do it early.

@@isaacrepairseverything Thanks for the video again! Finally got around to do it at 82K miles today, all 6 old plugs was in good condition, they were NGK, but I replaced it with Denso. Took about 1 hour and didn't have to remove the radiator bracket, had my son pull back a bit and was able to pull out. The rear was actually easier than the front, just use a short step ladder to hover over the engine. My advice to everyone that reading this, take a 3/8 ratchet (thumb didn't work too well) and push against where the word 'push' until you hear a click sound then pull out the connection to the ignition coil. Once your unplug all the cable, it's pretty easy from there.

Is that a Snap-On arm band?

@@AldrichCarrasco That's the back side of the torque wrench, the metric side. If you overtorque these, you will strip the cylinder head: buy the tool, it will pay for itself on the first use of you get something like Craftsman's basic one
