As a long time FD owner, i know how easy it is to miss the shift to 3rd.

Push it straight forward. Any side motion, you get 5th. That's why so many have crunched 5th gear synchros. Push it straight forward.....let the gate pull you to 3rd. Open palm shift, 2-3 works best. Hard to train but that's how you keep out of trouble. Been my experience. Well, also I put a short shifter on it, and increased the gate bias. And bent the new shifter towards me.... Still have to palm it forward.... I agree though.

@@CL-rm6sb I can't agree. I thought I read somewhere the 94 and later had synchro improvements. Unsure if true. My 93 5th went out. I had buzzed it a few times with a 2-5 shift - who knows how many it had besides me (80k on it when I bought it...). I replaced the synchro, and been ok since (even with my 'training' have still buzzed it a few times....).

@@fd797 my cars a 2000 Rhd model, with upgraded engine mounts and diff brace, still occasionally botches 2nd to 3rd , i can certainly drive for many hours whilst getting perfect shifts, it just occasionally happens when you don't want it to.

@@arturoolivarez8042 My miata is a baby FD lol. NB mx-5, 1.8, 6spd torsen diff. Lowered, sway bars, strut bar, better brakes, planed head and port/polish. Doesn't beat an FD in straight line, but it destroys them around a lap of Hampton Downs racetrack.

@@breaker6501 I don't think I'd really agree with that. The NSX was a full aluminum body. That was a pretty pricey and novel way to save weight at the time in a production car. The FD is almost entirely steel (only hood is aluminum). The NSX also had an aluminum engine, while the FD had iron housings that are pretty heavy. The FD did end up slightly lighter overall, and is my preferred car of the two (I've got two of them) but the NSX was made with a pretty similar philosophy. Gordon Murray used it to benchmark the McLaren F1, and no one care more about weight savings than he does.

Omni GLH, Mitsu/Dodge/Chrysler 4G powered cars, Dodge K Cars BMW M3, Mazda 323 GTX, RX-7 Turbo 2, Toyota MR2, Nissan NX2000, VW Corrado, etc just to name a few. We specialize in Honda J-Series engines, with our 06' Accord making 560whp 6spd mt on a Custom 6968 Turbo setup. The NSX engine is very similar but not the same by any means (SOHC vs DOHC, titanium rods in NSX etc)...some other small changes, the NSX engine is superior but the Jseries at least with our parts can do wonders and lots of people are swapping their NSX with the J due to availability and the aftermarket growing 🤙

Honda 6 cylinders, my time to shine. Aight the NSX came with the C series which is a 60° V6 that came in 3.0 and 3.2 liter flavors. It had dual cams with vtec on both side and the cylinder walls were lined with magic I'm guessing. The accords of the same time came with the new J series, which also came in at 3 liters but was single cam, vtec on intake only, and was a 90° layout
