I currently have both the Adam T5V and the Eris E5 standing on my desk while listening to this. Might be interesting to share that when listening to this video on the Eris 5, the Eris 5 sounded better. Listening to it on the Adam T5V, the T5V sound better. Also interesting that on the Eris, the T5V recording sounds way too bright, but when listening to it on T5V thats not the case at all and Eris sounds a bit muffled and less open. All in all the difference in real life is much less pronounced than in this video. The Adam T5V sound a bit better and more natural to me with most material, but the difference is not huge. T5V has more extension and detail in the highs (that tweeter!) and goes slightly deeper in the bass. Also the imaging/soundstage is better on the T5Vs. Midrange might be a little more detailed or atleast more pronounced on the Eris. Both are really nice speakers, but I'm keeping the Adams and returning the Eris. The Adam's are able to sound 'magical' (sorry for describing it lazily) with the right music. Eris sounds good and solid but never magical. Adams are able to sound pretty bright on material that is mixed very brightly, but that's the flipside of having tweeters like that. Both are great speakers for their prices and you will not go wrong with either of them. After this experiment its pretty safe to conclude that this kind of comparison recording is pretty useless. Listening to this on random speakers or headphones will NOT tell you which of these speakers sounds better or more accurate.

ya people need to hit up a music shop and hear the difference, i got the presonus e5 when they first came out and still looks like they are tough to beat for the money, i love the way they sound. dac is gonna play a big factor in how these souund as well.

Those two sounds great! Adam t5v sounds clearer and brighter to my ears. I enjoyed your video through my "Aurora 1" speakers made by "A1 Audio", a newly emerged speaker manufacturer. This speakers are custom-made with natural bamboo wood. If you would have a chance I would appreciate it to be compared with existind brands.

Up until a certain frequency , the 2 behave the same. Then I hear a tiny resonance frequency in the E5s in the mid mid spectrum , and I hear it with the same intensity in the T5Vs , just slightly shifted into a higher frequency. I'm impressed by how similar and loyal to the original source both speakers are. If I consider the price too, I must say that presonus wins.

the adam i hear really bad on bass precise. in deep song the bass sound much longer as it is.to hear it more clear how wrong the adam are, bost with a EQ 50 hz +5 db and hear the deep song. first song in video with headphone. if morphit VST plugin support your headphone then you can correct your headphone to sound even more linear

I like these comparison videos a lot and it seems quite fair to compare models of the same range. But if you have to decide for your first pair and you are not sure, if spending less for a pair of budget speakers would fit against spending - not tremendously, but maybe one or two hundred bugs - more... would this make the vital difference? Probably it will. And of course individually room settings matter. But it will be the same in the shop against your bedroom. Said so: looking forward to a comparison of Eris 3.5 against Adam T5V and Yamaha HS7 (for example ;-)). Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing.

Thank you, my point exactly. The more neutral sound of the Presonus is what I want to be MIXING on! With the Tembor8 it's matched even nicer! Additionally, the Ribbon Tweeter in my opinion is a bit harsh and imho that would throw off my final mix. The overall sound of the Adam is open, airy, not as quick as the Presonus to my ear and a little too much rolloff on the lowend makes it less pristine and tight. And I'm sorry as much buzz as there is about Ribbon Tweeters, that is NOT the BEST ONE and I can tell you my ear says HARSH and UNBEARABLE to be mixing on for HOURS at a time! @@jmanzemail You base your sound comparison on having heard them both irl or on how you perceive the Adams by playing back a recording of them on your own speakers (which is a mostly meaningless exercise as your own speakers and the microphone influence the sound much more than the recorded speakers). I wonder how you concluded the Adam as less quick, since ribbons are MUCH faster than rubber dome tweeters like the Eris has. I just bought the Eris but honestly considering to send them back and get the Adams.

@@jmanzemail Ive compared them both irl (not by listening to recordings of them). I don't know how you can say the Adams are not as quick as the Eris. The ribbon tweeter is much faster than the rubber dome. Also presonus bass rolls off earlier than the Adams. Eris are fine speakers but I hope you didn't pick them over the Adam's based on this recording because that would be a mistake. There's a reason theres buzz about the Adams: they are great.

What I hear when I play this on Eris E5 speakers: The Adams have much more energy in the high frequencies than the Eris and a bit more detail. Both recordings have much more energy in the highs than the original tracks. Original tracks sound dark compared to both recorded speakers. Since Adam is brighter than Eris, Eris sounds closer to the original track and more balanced. That said, a big problem with comparing this way is that you cant just record a speaker, you record the room and its effect on sound, you record the microphone's sound signature, etc. The Adams sound overly bright here but Im not sure I would say the same when listening to the speakers. And ofcourse I'm playing it back on my speakers that are again a big part of the sound. But yes, on my Eris 5, the Eris 5 sounds more neutral but both make the original tracks sound very dark in comparison. The female vocals sounded awesome on the Adams recording.

These videos are very interesting and useful, but remember: You are not listening "Adam T5V" or "Presonus Eris E5", you are just listening music recorded in a room (that has its own sound), from your monitor speakers or headphones. So i'm listening adam or presonus monitors or just the sound diffused by the room? It's impossible to appreciate the clarity of the Adam ART tweeter from my Krk Rokit on my desk. Need a real listening for more accurate evaluations

@@DSAUDIOreview Thanks for this! Hearing speakers recorded and played back on a different set of speakers is interesting but mostly tells you about their frequency response. Interpretation of a first-person listener like this is an indispensible addition! You should consider doing it more often. I just bought the Eris last week and even though they do sound neutral and well controlled I have some doubts about returning them in favor of the Adams because they sound fine but not awesome (my main speakers are quite good so ears are a bit spoiled). I use them a bit for making music but most of the time for listening music and youtube etc. After reading this, Im thinking maybe I should just keep them? I do like the Eris' size and front port cause my desk is not deep and is close to a wall. Tough call even after reading all the reviews I could find. Adam a bit pricier but thats not a big concern. Can you give me a final advice so I can put this to rest? :)

I've heard HS8 and T8V in a shop and i went for T8V. Much less ear fatigue with the T8V and that tweeter is magic and plays way faster. HS8 doesn't get the low end i needed/wanted but has better high medium. HS8 and T8V are both the best monitors by far in that price range and the choice is simple : if you prefer perfect high medium and only good bass, go for HS8. If you prefer perfect bass and high with an average high middle, go for the Adam. I'm a EDM/House producer and i start djing and i find the T8V more adapted to simple listening too. I believe the best combo possible for monitoring (70%) + just listening (30%) would be T5V + 8" or 10"subwoofer coz with the perfect medium of a 5" cone and that amazing tweeter you just can't beat the Adam in that price range. Anyway, you can't go wrong with these 2 monitors it's very tight..

@@ChrisBessy the most amazing results. i would’ve never expected this insanely good sound out of the presonus’s. it gives u exactly what u need to hear with no extra boosts or ear fatigue. these monitors are truly no B.S. they give u the most beautiful stereo field. you can hear depth. (front and back!) highly highly highly recommend them. if you buy them make sure to at least get an audio interface or they will make noise. i’m straight up in love with these speakers lol. i suggest the scarlett solo.

I haven't heard the E5's in person but I have compared the ADAMs to the Rokit 5's, which supposedly are very similar to the E5's (see the DS video comparison between the 2) and the ADAMs are *WAY* clearer. I mean the Rokits just sounded muddy!

I hear a tie or draw because the Adams are giving you a big scoop of hi's with minimal mid frequencies giving the impression they sound more vibrant, and with the ribbon art tweeter they do as the E5's gives a warmer overall sound, and I think PreSonus could win if it bumps up the hi-frequency would give edge over Adams and so I consider this a draw'

o.k here my opinion. i see this video again and what i here is the good old thing with adam.. deep bass, high resolution air´s and good stereo wide and tight sound but, the presonus sounds more neutral and closer to the original. why? the first track demonstrated this thing good, the sound is fat and high compressed, the tone on the mids puncht out and here have adam a mid hole, the deeper bass says hey the sound is good and many people says that is better but, the energie is not on the correct position! for mix is presonus better, for music maybe adams.

adams are known for having no mids. i remember listening to a5x in real life - highs are different from what you used to hear - with those tweeters you may be stunned about mixing because they sound very sweet so you cant decide to add highs or to cut them. for listening they are good and sweet with good clarity but for mixing .... no way

Also if you think Adams are not to be mixed on in general, you should really think again. Adams are used by many world class mixing engineers. That you can't use them properly is another story altogether.

No i does not have bright coloration, but it have very flat requence response and very clear highs so you can hear them right as they are. So if you are doing the mix on the adam you will get more clear mix.
