DUDE. I am OBSESSED with this commercial too and I legit started writing a Behind the Music on Indie Night (that's the actual band name, it's on the marquis of that second venue they play). I even went into how 'Jenny' had a rare speech impediment that caused her to only sing "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" .

What kills me is the security guard(s) protecting the musicians on-stage. What the director forgot to show was the mosh pit forming out of frustration of the possible no-show loaf pinching lead singer. Love how these directors have all the band member’s races represented. One of the lamest spots on TV.

Now its their biggest hit. Kind of an "inside joke" with the band..and a subtle f-u to chrohns. Now the band is laughing all the way to the bank. And taking the music world by storm.

Humira is a treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease), not Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS). UC and Crohn’s Disease are not laughing matters. Neither are they simply severe cases of diarrhea. Crohn’s Disease can be fatal because it can cause bowel blockages. UC can also be very serious because as the name implies it can cause internal bleeding leading to infection. Joking about disease that causes severe debilitations or death is the ultimate in poor taste. It makes the comedian look and sound like a jerk. Also, Humira is not something you can “go out and buy” over the counter at CVS or Walgreens. It is prescription only and is usually administered intravenously in a doctor’s office or clinic. And as the commercials state clearly, it is not a cure for UC or Crohn’s. It can help some patients go into remission or make remission periods longer, but the conditions will likely flare up again at some point. To laugh at others’ suffering is pathetic and cruel.

I have UC, which can also be fatal. I once lost about 13 kgs (33 pounds) in about 4 weeks, including a period where I lost 1kg a day for 4 days, due to high levels of internal bleeding. Prednisone brought it back under control, and let me break free from the reapers grip. However, I see the humour in this comedy routine insofar that the commercial is a really premise to promote this medication. Basically, someone with a moderate to severe case of Crohn's or UC won't be a member of a touring band - unless part of that band's routine involves them shitting themselves on stage. Sometimes making fun of things is the easiest way to talk about them.

It's not for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, he could at least get the disease right, it's right up front in the commercial. It's also not quite as funny when you have that disease (Crohns). But hate being the PC police, but correcting his mistake so his joke is at the very least correct. I wonder how funny it would be if he made fun of whatever disease you or someone close to you has...cancer? ...make fun of someone having to run off stage to throw up after chemo, that would be hysterical right?
