i knew after this performance adam would go on to do big things regardless of how he placed on the show. when they announced this was his song choice, i cringed thinking "there's just some michael jackson songs NO ONE should do and black and white is one of them!" i was so pleasantly shocked and impressed. then of course he did ring of fire and tracks of my tears and it soooo sealed the deal!

Hasn't anybody actually studied how Michael Jackson sings? It's not just about who can reach the highest and lowest notes when you're comparing with MJ. It's about how you sing, varying, giving an 'oomph'. Adam's good, definitely a rare jewel, but he's just gold and MJ's a diamond. MJ's B&W has him singing with a 'not in my vocabulary' between the words while Adam just lets his voice drift from word to word making it sound simply a 'good' kind of normal song. MJ's singing is simply unique.

Yes this was done before Michael passed on...and it's the only episode of American Idol to be re-aired, done as a tribute after his death. I don't even watch American Idol...but becoming a huge fan of Adam after seeing him on the AMA awards...I was like wow who is this dude!!! :)

Have you listened to his performances when he was younger? Extraordinary, but definitely different then what he did on Idol and his CD!!
