It is a good habit as it helps with visualisation, with putting your mind into the climbing, holding on rest jug and chalking hands as you will do while climbing.

There is a condition called "Aphantasia" and it relates to the ability or rather inability to see something in the minds eye. I believe there is a spectrum of this and Adam likely has great ability. I unfortunately have trouble and it hurts my climbing in some ways- however I am great at winging it.

Do you recognize all the hold shapes from previous routes? I'm curious if they ever use brand new or custom holds.
@Ludix147
@Ludix147 5 жыл бұрын
There are a couple brands that are widely used, but there are also a lot of new holds. For example in China, they use a lot of local suppliers which the European climbers don't know that well.

Do climbers really share their observation notes in the isolation zone? :-o It really surprises me. Thought the isolation zone is just a mostly silent pack of nervous people rehersing moves in their heads. Do all climbers in the isolation zone draw their own sketches like Adam? Next time I'm watching World Cup, I'll know Adam is somewhere in the isolation zone, sketching :)). SO cool!

I'm curious. IFSC rules state that competitors must clip Protection Points in sequence. Is breaking this rule something that get people actually disqualified? I'm pretty sure I've seen climbers skip a clip in IFSC competitions. Plus does the sequence has to start with the first Protection Point?
