@@johngonzales3681 Yes but not all mistakes he has made are demonstrated in that video (assuming we are referring to the same video being kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5rNepKhfKxkm8k). Also, Adam Ruins Everything, politically, has also shown to have a left-leaning bias, as shown in the following Reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/adamruinseverything/comments/7agcht/adam_ruins_everything_is_politically_biased_to/ Also, please don't reply with something like "Reality has a well known liberal bias ." That joke has been overdone.
@DrOctatonic4 жыл бұрын
Connor Bredall Well, no, the ‘’ political bias’’ accusations almost always seem to come up for these various pop-sci/skeptic/infodump type entertainment-no matter what form. Snopes has gotten this reputation as well, with certain readers leveraging these claims forgetting that *both sides are not created equal*. Not only that, you’re, possibly unintentionally, ignoring dissemination and critique of “left-leaning” social-political misconceptions that the show has covered. See: segments on charities, diet and lifestyle, etc. I looked over the Reddit post you mentioned (which, c’mon, is that really the source of your information?) and found several questionable critiques. In regard to a border wall being effective; it would be suspect to compare the West Wall Bank-that has been successful against curbing *attacks* (its primary purpose)-to the situation we have in America. Furthermore, the argument completely ignores the fact that a wall, no matter how effective, 1. Would still be costly (Regardless of whether or not a conservative figurehead comes up with a lower number) and 2. That immigration has been steadily declining for years. The climate change portion is particularly silly as the poster cements away the false idea that facts and truths are merely determined by political affiliation by suggesting that you watch a PragerU video, a conservative source. For starters, information is information. Facts are facts. It does not change because it is disseminated through liberal or conservative outlets. Second. PragerU is an *incredibly* dishonest and intentionally bad-faith source of information. Next, the poster seems to think that because Adam ignores the “true” source of greenhouse gasses, that is: water vapor (that is not directly effected by human means), that is to mean Adam is purposely obfuscating or being dishonest about the complexities of climate change. That is wrong. While a rise in water vapor may not be in direct effect of human causality, other greenhouse gasses certainly are. CO2 has done an incredibly job at trapping excess heat, in turn, causing a rise in ocean temperatures, which-you guessed, leads to a substantial rise in water vapor. I think the “left-leaning liberal” accusations largely come from people who live in political bubbles that believe that if you’re critiquing one side, you must be for the other. Or that both sides have similarly disagreeable POVs. I mean, liberals are nutty, but let’s not be dishonest here and suggest right-wing conservatives haven’t made their points by deliberately strawmannirg their opposition, moreso than any lefty.

In Germany, we have "good until X at minimum" and "consume by X". The first one is the more common and by the wording alone, you know that just because it's not super fresh anymore, doesn't mean it will taste bad or even be hazardous. The second one is for products like ground meat, i.e. for products which spoil easily and that you actually should be careful about.
@iordachenicolaev4 жыл бұрын
What maters the most is the time the food will go bad after the packaging was opened. Even pasteurized milk will go bad if it was opened because of mold. Once the gray mold spores grow it's bye bye food.

welp.. this doesnt count for germany... stuff is pretty acurate here. (if stored the right way) ofc not 100% most stuff you can still eat a few days later.
@mutajin77017 жыл бұрын
Well not really... in Germany we have by regulation an expiration date labeled on our food, but that date only says how long the food is guaranteed to be good to eat. And we too have expiration dates on products that virtually can be shelved for eternity, like salt (YES SALT! million year old minerals have an expiration date in Germany) or dried pasta (it will last forever) or canned food (it may taste strange in a dozen years but is still good to eat!) and many more! And usually most products last a lot longer than the labeled expiration date because the companies want to make sure they don't make a mistake and get bad press AND of course because they also want to make sure people buy more. Our system in Germany is still better than in the US, but not by far ;)

its the same with fermented foods. for example sriracha sauce, it still tastes good even if its (mandatory) expiration date has passed for months. and its flavor becomes stronger over time. since its fermented in a controlled environment its safer to eat than when you make your own, (due the risk of external bacteria coming into the process) ---------------------- the same is with spices i still use some spices that are expired over 6 months. (salt and pepper) since its stored dried its safe to eat. but the flavor can get less over time. the same is with oils. if it starts to flake, just get a few coffee filters and filter the flakes out. repeat this for a few times, and its good to use again.

Okay safe to eat, yes. And in Australia we have a ‘best before’ date which just indicates when the food changes slightly in taste and maybe it’s longer than your American sell by dates. But That being said I have an aunt who lives off cheap food she buys right before the best before dates, same types of snacks that I buy fresh, they never make you sick but all food in her pantry tastes noticeably worse. On multiple occasions I’ve pulled a familiar snack off a shelf in her house only to find it tasting stale and ‘not quite right’ and finding it’s several months expired. So like, if you don’t mind the weird taste, or in the event of a zombie apocalypse you could probably ignore the best before dates, but i wouldn’t serve up a plate of expired crackers at a party because they DO taste weird. Also in one of your earlier videos you showed that homeless shelters throw out all ‘expired’ donated food, and i assume international donations have the same guidelines am I the only one seeing an obvious flaw there? I mean, if ‘expired’ food is safe to eat, and richer people can afford to be pickier about their quality of food, and they’re gonna throw it out anyway because again it DOES affect the taste a little, why shouldn’t they be able to donate slightly stale but still safe food? (Probably because the shelter/charity might get sued or something if someone were to get sick)

There are some rigid laws about these stuffs here on Brazil, they're pretty acurate with food that is made to be eaten in a week or two. I worked in a bakery and dude, the products would last exactly to the day that they order us to put, like very precise. But with food that is made to last 3 months, 6 months, a year or even more, I just go by "How well sealed is this?" The package is perfect? Then I try :P Worst case scenario, I play the game of thrones XD

I used to work retail and essentially the dates are a guide, not a hard and fast rule, so chicken is dangerous to eat when it's even slightly off, so the date gives you a reminder to double check it, so on the day or the next day give it a sniff to see how it it. Fruit, just look at it and you can tell, tinned goods he's spot on, you can use those months after the date and you're fine, beers, ciders etc you're looking at a year, frozen stuff is pretty much immortal in my eyes

there is no Federal law that requires food dating - even though there are Federal regulations that govern labeling.. Common packaged food dates:- “Best Used By” or “Best Used Before”: These dates tell you the recommended shelf life for the best flavor, color, and quality of a product. The food can safely be used past this date. In the case of our salsa, it can be used up to 18 months past the date or possibly longer. “Sell By”: These dates tell the store how long they should display the product for sale. These products can be safely consumed for days or even weeks after the sell-by date when handled properly. “Freeze By”: This date is similar to a “Use By” date and indicates when a product should be used or frozen for peak quality. “Packed on”: This is the date the food was packaged. It is generally not intended for consumers but assists the retailer in rotating stock and locating items in case of recall. They are not “Use By” dates.
@adhruv407 жыл бұрын
FDA does not require food firms to place "expired by", "use by" or "best before" dates on food products. This information is entirely at the discretion of the manufacturer. A principle of U.S. food law is that foods in U.S. commerce must be wholesome and fit for consumption. A "best by", "use by" or expiration date does not relieve a firm from this obligation. A product that is dangerous to consumers would be subject to potential action by FDA to remove it from commerce regardless of any date printed on a label.
