Here are parts of Adam's workshop that most people don't know exist! Adam takes you on a tour of the cave's loft spaces, where he is reorganizing his workshop storage and many projects in progress. It's full of gear, materials, and interesting artifacts from Adam's shows and builds, all hidden away above the parts of the cave you've seen in Tested videos. Let's climb up the steep ladder staircase and explore this space--watch out for the low ceiling!

As a former professional organizer (assistant, but that counts!), it does my heart good to be able to see that loft's floor! I've been in messier and worse-organized spaces, and lemme tell ya, with the basic 'all the things in this box are similar' model, you can GO FAR. It's very tempting to make piles up to the ceiling, but never - NEVER - underestimate how clear floor space will make you feel! That level of inspiring and energizing?? Second to none!

What would a creative get rid of? Tools...no. Created things...no. Materials...no. Collected things without duplication...no. There isn't that much left in this space. Collecting and creating, even if dense, isn't hoarding.

I was afraid for a second this was going to be a forty minute video that started with you climbing into the loft, turning around too fast, knocking yourself out on a pipe, and 35 minutes of us staring at the ceiling till you woke up haha

Don't know if it's a personal question or not, but are you planning on buying a larger shop once you've gone through and sorted what you have? It probably seems redundant, but making an inventory of everything I own, throwing out everything I don't need before moving somewhere new is something I often do. It helps clear my mind that I'm not hoarding anything

I know this doesn't seem like a big deal, and maybe it isn't... As a former electrician I must request you replace the missing covers on the junction boxes in the loft and if any junctions are not in a box have them put in one. "Open junctions" as they are called may and often do go decades without incident. But the risk is still real. The risk is fire. The design of a junction box is to contain the heat of an internal melt down enough that the insulation on the wires inside melts and causes a complete short which kicks the breaker and stops the sparking. It then cools off and a fire is avoided. If an open junction has an issue the heat is not contained enough to fail the insulation and cause the breaker to trip before it catches things around it on fire too. This is OFTEN how structures burn down. So I'm struck with irony that these open junctions are in a former fire house. PLEASE ADAM HAVE THIS FIXED. We must do what we reasonably can to protect this 'Maker Capitol of the World' you have created. This is an EASY one day build.

I feel that watching Adam working in his shop is the closest I can get to my passion. I studied architecture and the part I loved the most about archi school is the process of physically making stuff, spending time sourcing for materials, planning the build and of course time in the machine lab. Having worked in a corporate setting for a while now I really missed all of that - ironically, everything seems so arbitrary and empty in the world of big buildings and projects. Unfortunately, DIY and making stuff in general isnt really popular in my country, there are only handful of maker space which makes them rather expensive and exclusive. My goal is to have my own practice some day and a small workspace where I start rediscovering those joys, but for now I'll just continue to indulge in all the one day builds on here!

That was so cool! Love seeing the shop as I do not have the capabilities for such things. So I watch Adam and Tested and enjoy them! I have to say though in Loft 2 I noticed two things. 1. The case with Tippett on it. 2. I think Adam is keeping some plutonium in that yellow case in there. Looks right out of Back To The Future! To any agencies looking at this I Am Kidding!!

The coolest thing is that each one of these items, bins, or boxes has a story behind it and the value isn't necessarily in the object itself, but the experience or narrative that goes along with each of these builds. Such a neat place. Thanks for sharing.

Most people who have an obsessive hobby don't have the money to really indulge in it and most people with money don't have an obsessive hobby other than making money. Adam has both--and his hobby makes him a living! Successful guitarists just buy more guitars and effects boxes. LOL. EDIT: I just remembered Brian May of Queen has been obsessed with 3D photography his whole life and has published several books on it, so maybe guitarists was a bad example. LOL.
