How can you like Midsommar. It's one of the most boring horror movie ever. Yes, it has some very gory scenes. But it wasn't scary at all. I did try to watch it twice. Just to see if the reason i didn't like it, was my mood the first time i saw it. But nope. Still boring 😴
@Call-me-Al2 жыл бұрын
@@metern different people have different experiences and expectations and so on. Like me for instance, I haven't seen the movie yet but I'd probably giggle too much at random places just because of how hilariously wrong it is in pieces including the props (yes, it is about some weird cult but a chunk of it was filmed in Hungary and it shows [edit: i have seen multiple clips from the movie] - I have repeatedly visited Hungary and I'm Swedish) and constantly be taken out of suspension of disbelief because of my familiarity with it all. Maybe like what a Japanese person would feel watching the movie Island of Dogs. Which was really fun and beautiful but such a weird experience as someone with above average experience with Japanese culture and history, and I'm not even Japanese. So yes, different people view things very differently. I am certain I would not find Midsommar boring, but I also would constantly get too distracted to be immersed in the story in a normal way.
@metern2 жыл бұрын
A HA I do understand that. But still, i don't like the movie 😉 I loved Island of Dogs. Midsommar felt like a B movie for me. Even if it had some really good actors in it. But the story was for me terrible. Yes, some might like it and think it's scary. But i think that is people who can't stand really scary movies and hate jump scares. I'm from Norway by the way 😁

I found this channel when I was initially laid off from my job when covid first hit back in March of 2020. This channel was one of few things that I found that gave me joy during dark times. (Slight side note: I also found I had the time to go back and binge watch all the mythbusters episodes on Hulu during layoff) After watching so many videos on making, it inspired my wife and I to start our own making side hustle creating gifts with a laser cutter! Thank you to Adam for being the “face” of the channel, and to the entire team, without them there would be no channel to be a face of!

Growing up, Discovery Channel was my favorite channel by far, and Mythbusters had a huge hand in that. I'm at middle age now, and unfortunately still around minimum wage level, otherwise I'd be happily sharing something through Patrreon or whatever. I just want to say, I REALLY appreciate your openness, and the way you share your passions with the world, in a way that leaves nothing to the imagination. You put your heart out there for everyone to see, continuously, and it is a beautiful thing. I love what you're doing, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for being you.

Your jewler's loupe made me smile. I use a watchmaker's loupe. Like you, I wear glasses, but my partner loves trolling junk stores, and she found a watchmaker's loupe. The main difference is the watchmaker's loupes don't have sides, they're made to swivel up out of the way. This also let's you have multiple loupes of different power and mix'n'match them as needed. The great thing about what my partner found was it clips on to existing glasses (many of them need to be screwed in). It makes it look very steampunky, except it's a light steel, not copper but tin with steel rivets. I'd send a photo, but I don't think I can as a comment.

There was an old man who lived on the other side of the alley behind my house when I was a kid. I would look to see if his garage was open, and if it was, I would walk over and spend time with him, marvelling in the magical stuff he had and the projects he was working on. I'd ask questions and he'd do his best to not be annoyed by this young boy who refused to let him be. I hope that Adam is that same "old man" for some kid in his neighborhood who discovers the magic that comes from continual exploration and creative learning. We need more Adams in this world!

I found this channel with adam's everyday carry 9 years ago and was so enthralled that there was a way to see more of my favourite myth buster. The one day builds taught me that I could make things and be a maker in my little corner of my own world. I built my shed when I bought my first home and everything within it is a testament to all these videos and stories. So many of the tools/knowledge have come from recommendations from everyone on tested. I cannot thankyou enough for all the content, the tips, the stories and the process of building. For 2022, Tested was one of my favourite things as well. Thankyou everyone and keep on making :)

My youtube thanks for this year goes to this channel, since I started spending more time in it in 2022. Adam's passion is absolutely captivating, even to someone like me who rarely even picks up a screwdriver! Also hat tip for the Carlo Rovelli recommendation. I discovered him through 7 lessons on physics then went on to read 2-3 of his other books. He is a SPECTACULAR science communicator, you truly get Carl Sagan vibes. I was lucky enough to catch him on a live talk in the Royal Institute in London, after I had discovered his books. The guy showed up in the amphitheatre with *no slides whatsoever* and explained the nature of time employing only his interstellar story telling skill. It is absolutely extraordinary how he captivated the audience with no information on the screen at all.

Happy Christmas Adam, I am so glad you mention Midsommar. That film is the best horror movie I’ve seen in the last 10 years (a close second is the Vvitch). It presents a terror in a way that I’ve never experienced before. It makes you almost distrust and fearful of sunlight, nature and in a way the process of time itself. I can’t put into words how artfully this film fulfils it’s ambition.

Adam, one of my favorite things over the last several years has been Tested. You've been doing really fun stuff. One of my favorite videos is the fricken Apple Box build. It's cool that you went into the background behind them, C-Stands, and the C-47. I went and built my own, and to be honest I cheated and put a hinge on the lid with some latches so I could put stuff inside while still having it highly reinforced enough that I could still stand on it. Another build I did was your articulating bench lamp. Built one to put on my desk at home because Desk LED lamps are offensively expensive. And the number of tools I've picked up... okay it's not a lot but it's several, 123 blocks, USB-C soldering iron, 3 in 1 oil, wifi endoscope, I'm sure there's more. I made use of the endoscope recently to look in a wall to make sure I wasn't going to shred some water lines by putting a drywall anchor in it.
