Idk if you have adams contact info but please if you can let him know that the panda suit is not from just some commercial its from The Amazing Panda Adventure that came out in 1995 starring Stephen Lang, if he could let peter know that would be dope. It was one of my favorite childhood movies kinda sad shes just sitting in his collection lost and not actually loved by someone who truly loved the film. I hope you see this message, it would really be a shame to have The Amazing Panda continue to go Unknown and forgotten.

Hell you could do a day-long video on Peter Jackson's Dalek alone.

Yeah, for as cool as it is, the Hal prop is relatively small and simplistic; I don't think they should of spent so much time lingering over it. Wish we could of looked over some of the other props.
@RobertAnthonyPitera8 жыл бұрын
The thing is that actual props, let alone hero props, from 2001 are so freaking rare that it's amazing to see them at all. Most of the props, sets, costumes and models for this landmark 1968 film were purposely destroyed by director Stanley Kubrick to keep them from being used in other movies. Recently the Aries 1B lunar lander came up for auction and was purchased by AMPAS for $344,000. But I totally agree this has to be multiple parts - and I'd actually pay for a Tested sub just for that. I mean when have you ever seen Thunderbirds hero props?!?

A 2001 guy here- Hal's "eye" was steady state and did not blink or vary in intensity. Also, the silver tool was to gain entry to the "brain room" but not to do the disabling - that was another tool. It's documented in one of my 2001 books that the tool was an off the shelf tool adapted for use on the film.

I have never been so jealous of another person then i am of Adam right now, first he calls Peter Jackson his friend! Second he has meet Peter Jackson and got a tour of his private collectiom! When i was nine years old me and my older brothers watched a pirated-vhs-version of Bad Taste with like Bulgarian subtitles so we duct-taped over them on our Tv because we couldnt help too look down on them because we where used to reading subtitles because we are from Sweden. After the film it hade the "Good Taste made Bad Taste" documentary where you follow Peter as he shows early films, marquetts and stuff from the making of Bad Taste and how he and his mates made the film. Watching that made a huge impact on my love of movies and sparked me too wanting too do it myself, sadly i have not gone on to make movies but i write scripts as a hobby and it brings me much joy in my other pretty bleak life. Love Adams collection, love Peter Jackson, his films and his "behind the scenes" features on his dvd´s and blu-ray´s.

She was from the movie called 'Life'. The scene is where a guy on the internet is watching a video and then sees someone he thinks he should recognise from a film...'should recognise' being the key element of the film. That lens actually looks quite stock. The bit on the back protrudes into the body of the camera and one had to lock the mirror up to shoot. This was the only way they could do such a lens without aspherical lenses inside. This might also be why the flashlight seems focused as one puts it right up to the back of the lens because the film plane i.e. focus point is right up to the lens, only allowing for the shutter to come inbetween. If I remember correctly, Mr. Kubrick, was quite the photo gekk, and this lens was quite rare, so he might have had a say into this choice. But that's just speculation on my part.
