Can't believe you use Mr Sheen as well lol Its the best cleaner I have found , does not leave any residue and never had any problems with laptop screens. The glass cleaners can be dodgy even the ones without ammonia and I would definitely make sure the laptop is off and spray whatever cleaner onto a rag instead of straight onto the screen just incase some product runs down the edge of the screen and into the screen layers or ffc connectors. I have had some laptops and televisions with damage due to this. Thanks for the video mate.

Hello Adamant IT! My HP Pavilion Dv6 laptop has almost the same issue but does have a removable battery and a separate power button. When the charger is plugged in with no battery installed there is a white light and normally the laptop should turn on with no issues under AC power only. But just today when I tried to turn it on, it would turn on for a brief millisecond and then IMMEDIATELY cut out, no power at all as if something is shorting. With the battery inserted and no charger plugged in, the power LED flashes white 3 times when trying to turn on. With the battery inserted after the charger is already in, the laptop turns on successfully but the battery does NOT charge and will eventually switch off! Bear in mind the laptop and components are nearly 10 years old. If you know what the issue could be please help if you can :)

Try replacing the CMOS RTC battery. It's almost always a CR2032 so they are cheap and easy to find at local electronic stores, Amazon, and even most grocery stores. It's fairly uncommon for a dead/defective RTC battery to cause power issues (usually will just get a warning after POST and your BIOS/UEFI settings will be reset) but I do see it from time to time, and more common among laptops.

It will work normalny, it can go to sleep but if I'll shut it down, I'll have go through that process again... Any ideas? Thanks. K

If the keyboard weren't rivoted in place like that, I would even try to go as far as tearing the layers apart on the keyboard and redraw the power button trace if all other traces are good. Or, perhaps you can try a frankenstein method of soldering a physical power button off the side of the laptop or something so the user can switch it on there.

Hello, my laptop have a problem with the GPU. It's a sony vaio sve14113egw with 14113egb mainboard inside (sony mbx-270). I've replaced the motherboard before because the original is completely dead. The original one turn on sometime if i bent the mainboard, but as i don't have proper tools to fix board, i just replaced it. Now the secondary installed mainboard is damaged too, it shows garbled output "Orgratkng Q{veo Not Found" (shows exactly this) and windows bluescreen with garbled output too.. I think i overheated my GPU to death?. But before this happened, I've never have thermal issue with the new mainboard running Ubuntu on my other harddisk, i ran ubuntu from November 2019 and it died when i switched back to Windows hdd. I noticed that even when before i replace the mainboard, the laptop's fan used to spin really fast like if i play game in it.. it runs so hot even if i just leave it idle... And when I replace the mainboard, I'm using my other hdd that I installed Ubuntu on it and the laptop never runs too hot. Only when i switch back to windows hdd, and then it overheat i think... Can I use the old mainboard's GPU with the new working mainboard that have dead GPU? They charged me 500.000 IDR in my local repair shop for mainboard repairs.. do you think it's best to just buy another mainboard again or move the GPU fron the old mainboard?

RTC batt (CR2032) typically lasts the life time of the computer. They do fail now and then, but I don't bother checking them unless I have a reason to think there's a problem with it. Vast vast majority of computers will boot or at least power on with no RTC batt.

long shot here but the original keyboard may have only had a little fleck of dust preventing the the key from operating correctly, I've had a few of these with that prob and as you say the keyboards are a Bi...PAIN to remove (gammy soldering iron and hot glue I find works) then podge the corner of the keyboard open, blow and viola...rebuild time.... on one of them I have also fitted an alternative power button to one of these by soldering flyleads with a small button to the 2 pins you identified and mounted it next to the USB on the rhs. But like you say, it's a time thing and that was a 1 hour job.. wish I had pics of it for you.

@Adamant_IT4 жыл бұрын
Generally I don't keep them, because I don't see trackpad failures very often. Apple trackpads (as good as they are) do fail often, so I keep them - but random windows laptop trackpads, the chances of me needing this one are slim so I'll bin it. Could also list it on eBay and leave it in the back room until it sells. It's up to you how many random spares you want to hoard.

Have you seen something similar? i can't find a "hard" procedure in which i could reset the battery internal circuit (i'm pretty sure some protection has fused, most li-ion have these, you can reset it by forcing a charge direct into cables, but i'm afraid to do it in this case). Any hint would be appreciated. Sorry for long comment and Greetings from Argentina!

The battery feeds part of the super io chip (bios data) that starts the computer, sometimes the io chip locks up and needs the power removing, same can be true with the main battery. This happens too often, handy to remember if you have a dead laptop.
@gxc904 жыл бұрын
@@zx8401ztv In short, that would be considered standby or startup voltage, then the PC needs to initiate the POST sequence? interesting, since I never heard of that explained before. :)
@zx8401ztv4 жыл бұрын
@@gxc90 Yes it is a required startup supply. This is only my rough understanding. The super io chip/micro controller is the very start of everything, if it crashes or locks up due to a slow discharge of the battery, the system is dead of power/reset/bios rom/keyboard and all other startup functions. Often a bios update file has p.c bios rom data and the o.s rom for the super io chip/micro to know how to use its inputs/outputs. One type of io chip can be used in many types of machines, but the pin usage is different for each machine. Sorry about the waffle :-(
